No, looking at the donor asked about my previous procedure. Dr. told me that certainly not 2245 grafts were extracted. Extracted Grafts numbers are higher than it. Moreover, sharp punches weren't used by Dr. Bhatti. Scars were visible.

In my repair procedure, Eugenix Technician who was doing the extraction having discussion with me regarding cricket. At one time he said "kaha se kiya aap, donor pura kharab Kar diya" if I'm not wrong you're from India. So, I'm just writing what he said.

What did Eugenix charge per graft?ย

    Month 16 Update.

Now at month 9 for the crown. ย Over the last month, Iโ€™ve noticed the beard hairs are beginning to blend in with the scalp. I met Dr Pradeep in London last month for a consult and he expects around 15-20% more hairs to pop through still (which Iโ€™m amazed at). As a Norwood 7, I have always had to have realistic expectations for the crown i.e. Iโ€™ll never have a real dense look, but if being honest it is surpassing my expectations. Plus 99% of the time I use the slick back style which now allows me to pull off a fullish-looking head of hair.

I went back to see your earlier posting.ย  The problem with the blood flow and needing to go on thinners makes sense why the H&W surgery didn't turn out for you.ย  I assume you have it under control since then?

Your shaved head look with the ink works much better than SMP alone.ย  Getting more real hair in there would improve the illusion of coverage.

By body hair were you talking about from the chest and arms?ย  Or beard?ย  Your pics didn't show how much beard hairs you have growing, but if you have them, then it's a better idea to use that up first before going to chest.

The last time I went to Dr. Umar was in 2020.ย  He's been improving his automated punch over the years and it works well for safely extracting body hairs.ย  These ones grow out at a sharp angle so this punch was designed to work for this graft type in addition to regular head donor.

There should be good options these days compared to when you first started.

Dr Umar used head and beard hair.ย

  4. This is what my head looks like today. I shave my hair and I think it looks good. Iโ€™m fine with it. I wish I had a full head of hair but that wasnโ€™t in the cards.ย
I might go back to Dr Umar one more time to get body hair transplanted but not sure.ย
    ย

I lost most of my transplants from Dr Wong due to my previous health issues. Dr Umarโ€™s beard transplants and the hair tattoos make my bald head look better. ย I believe the beard hairs are more hardy.ย

  5. Drew, would you mind sharing some of the details about your SMP? Did you have this done in California by Dr. Pak? Are you happy with the color? Is this permanent of temporary SMP?

Do you have any plans for more SMP or another HT?

    ย

I'm also curious as to what the cost was, if you don't mind sharing. Cheers.

    ย

    ย

I had it done at "Good Look Ink" in Minnesota.

    ย

I am not happy with the color. I think it has a bluish color to it.

    ย

    It is permanent.

    ย

I don't have any plans for more SMP.

    ย

I plan on having Dr Umar use beard and body hair in the future when I am up to it.

  6. Thanks for the update Drew, there were a lot of people who wondered about you and we appreciate you taking the time to come back and tell us how you're doing. The problems you have been dealing with certainly does put hair loss in the proper perspective. I'm glad to hear they have finally diagnosed your illness and you have started taking medication for it, from the sound of things you are very lucky to be posting. I hope your health continues to improve and that, once you've got that sorted out, you keep us posted on any future developments with Dr. Umar.

    ย

    Best of luck to you.

    ย

    Thanks Wylie.

  7. It was always my intention to come back on here and update my story (Good or Bad), but life dealt me a bad hand. Between my health problems and my Dad's death in 2012 I have been through hell. The past 2 years I have spent the majority of the day in bed. My health problems originally started in 2002. I was an elite athlete training for my first Triathlon when I came down with a flu-like illness and was never the same. Over the years I have gone to many different M.D.s looking for an answer to my health problems. All they gave me were drugs while I continued to get worse. When I went to have my transplants with Dr Wong I was not well, but I was still functional and did my best to deal with the pain and fatigue that I have on a daily basis. I basically feel like I have the flu every morning I wake up.

    ย

After I had my transplant with Dr Umar my health continued to go down hill. In 2011 I finally found a specialist that helped find out what was making me sick. They tested me for Chronic Epstein Barr Virus and CPN Bacteria. My antibodies were elevated indicating ACTIVE INFECTIONS. For some reason my immune system was not keeping them under control. 98% of adults have EBV and CPN but their immune systems control it.

    ย

The M.D. also tested me for Hypercoagualation(THICK BLOOD). My levels were the worst the M.D. had ever seen. The M.D. immediately called a blood specialist because she was concerned I could die from a Vein Thrombosis. They were actually shocked I hadn't died from a Vein Thrombosis(Blood Clot) already. The blood specialist also said it was a miracle I hadn't died from a blood clot. I guess people can be born with Hypercoagulation and they have to take blood thinners their whole life or people like me can develop Hypercoagulation during a serious infection. The M.D. put me on HEPARIN for over 6 months. Unfortunately Heparin can cause hair loss.

    ย

Since I had Hypercoagulation when I had my hair transplants I have lost a lot of the transplanted hair due to lack of a good blood supply to the follicles. I eventually had to get "hair tattoos" to try to camouflage the hair loss.

    ย

Dr Wong and Dr Umar are both awesome hair transplant surgeons and none of my hair loss problems are their fault. I have just been very unlucky.

    ย

When I regain my health I plan on going back back to Dr Umar to have beard and body hair transplanted. However I will make sure my Hypercoagulation is under control before I have another surgery.

    ย

I will post updated photos when I have time.

  8. Jim, I agree, I don't think this was a case of poor yield, nor was it a case of doctor/tech error. I do question whether or not, given the patient's donor characteristics and high NW number, he had reasonable expectations, and if the clinic promised him something they couldn't possibly deliver on. That being said, I'm going to stop posting on Drew's thread as he is moving on.... take care!

    ย

    ย

    hairthere,

    ย

My expectations were a very thin crown, but more density in the frontal region.

  9. Jim, Sorry, I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. Let me preface this by saying I think H&W do amazing work, and their results, yours included, are usually worthy of a "Wow". But Drew's results from 8,585 grafts are not acceptable, IMHO. Obviously Drew wants to just move on from this, so I'm not going to badger him for details on exactly what happened here. I do think this is a good cautionary tale for guys with high NW numbers. Restoring a NW 6-7 can be very difficult and costly. I do hope this last HT gets you to where you hope to be Drew...

    ย

    ย

    ย

Here is what Dr Wong did in my first surgery.

    ย

Dr Wong originally wanted my hairline to be about 1 cm higher. You can actually see where he rubbed the original line away.

  10. Drew,

Here's my 2 cents if you don't mind. This of course is a subjective thing, a matter of opinion. Considering where you came from, your results are excellent. Certainly, wearing your hair short will magnify any lack of density. It also appears to me that your hair is rather fine, which will also contributes to the appearance of thinness. My point in this isn't to cheerlead for Dr. Wong (Lord knows I've done enough of that through the years) but to hopefully give you a well deserved boost. I'm not sure if you need that, but those are my thoughts. I really do think your results are great. All the best.

    Jim

    ย

    ย

I am not holding anything against Dr Wong. I like Dr Wong as a person and think he is a great surgeon.

    ย

I have no idea what my yield was, but I can't cut my hair as short as I would like. Hopefully the beard grafts work in the scar.

    ย

Am I unhappy. No. Was I expecting a little bit better result. Yes. I was definitely hoping for more density in my frontal region.

    ย

    ย

And I do have fine hair. That is correct.

    ย

    ย

I am just praying I get a good yield from this last surgery.

    ย

Dr Umar does fantastic work also, so I am in good hands.

    ย

    ย

The only reason I continue to come back is to give other Norwood 6 patients an honest presentation and realistic expectation.

    ย

Be prepared for a marathon. :)

  11. Drew, I don't mean to dwell on the past, but considering your session sizes with Dr. Wong, I would have expected much better results from those strip surgeries (as I'm sure you did). Did the clinic feel your results were up to par? Also, was your donor area tapped out for another strip session?

    ย

    ย

You aren't the first to say this to me.

    ย

    ย

I didn't want to go through another strip surgery anyways.

    ย

And even if only 50% of the grafts grow, from Dr Umar's surgery, I still would end up with more grafts than what Dr Wong said he could get in a 3rd surgery.

    ย

    ย

So my only recourse was to ask for a refund and I didn't do that.

    ย

    I am moving on.
