Well guys, I did it.Β  I flew back to India and had a 2nd HT at Eugenix.Β  Dr Das led the surgery this time as well, and the mission was to add some density in the midscalp and crown, something that I had been planning since last summer as I sat in my hotel room with fresh wounds covering my head .Β  Dr Das' goal this time was to get 2,000 grafts.Β  I wanted 4,000, to hit the magical number 10,000 in total, and sort of join some arbitrary, mythic club, but she felt that 2,000 would give me the density I desired while preserving some arrows in the proverbial quiver to wage war on the future hairloss-monster, should it raise its ugly head since I dont take Finasteride.

Rishab again helped me coordinate everything...Β  super helpful, professional, quick to respond to my queries, and not pushy at all.Β  I arrived in New Delhi about 2am June 6th, slept a few short hours, then headed to the clinic bright and early to handle the scandal.Β  This, to me, is another way Eugenix shines, apart from delivering fantastic results:Β  the whole part of the team that was involved in my HT last year actually remembered me and were as warm and welcoming as my family.Β  They recalled details with amazing clarity, even down to what I had ordered for lunch.Β  One of the techs even ran up to me and gave me a big hug, and I instantly felt like we picked up right where we left off.Β  The clinic had actually expanded its footprint since last year, and the new building was clean, bright, well organized, and bustling with miracles-in-progress in each of the rooms.

After a brief meet with the patient coordinator photos were taken, then Dr Das came and did the planning, answered my questions, and we were under way.Β  This time was a little different than last however because for some reason my scalp was oozing alot, which slowed down the whole process, and what was supposed to be a quick afternoon procedure turned into 2 days.Β  Slits were made day 1, plus a bit of implantations.Β  Because of all the extra bleeding, the anesthesia was escaping my scalp and I could feel the the needles.Β  The techs were very attentive to my groaning and constantly asked if I was OK and if I needed more local anesthetic, and they would apply it.Β  Unfortunately for me though, I felt alot more pain this time around than last.Β  Β I returned back the next day and they finished up with a total of 2203 grafts, below is the breakdown:

    Scalp:

    Singles - 29

    Doubles - 1279

    Triples -300

    Quadruples - 140

    Beard:

    Singles - 455

    Β

I still have the remnants of my old hairline where a couple hairs still grow, along with a now defunct widow's peak.Β  I have to shave it down every few days or else it looks weird.Β  I asked Dr Das if she could remove those with the punch gun and she warned there could possibly be some scarring involved, as some of the hairs were very close together.Β  I told her to go for it anyway as its annoying to have to shave it, and she did, you can see the pictures below.Β  Currently, there are still some tiny little punch holes, but I must say it has healed up nicely for such a short time, and I feel like after a few months time it should be pretty undetectable.

I cant reiterate it enough, the whole entire team is so friendly and warm, I almost hated to have to leave.Β  They are the kind of people I would love to go hang out with on a Saturday evening, as a big group, I bet it would be a lot of fun. Dr Das did drop by from time to time after the slits were made to check in on everything.Β  Β The technicians were again stellar, they work in such harmony, and it really gave me the sense I was in good hands.Β Β

Any questions, please feel free to ask.

All back home in the USA. Trip went by in a flash. Back to life. I really hope to be able to do some actual tourist traveling to this part of the world in the future, but for now it's all work and no play for me :(

    ⭐2nd HT⭐
Areas to be addressed, in order of importance: 1) Lateral humps and lower crown, 2) hairline and temples (if enough donor supply)

Thursday June 8th ended up being entirely dedicated to planning and slit-creation and Friday June 9th was the transplant. Dr. Sethi personally invested time and input into the design and strategy alongside Dr. Das. He talked to me extensively about my situation, our plan, life, and all kinds of things. It was a fun time. We talked a lot about the situation of the progressive ring around the sides and back of my head and how to address it as best as possible. For those who understand, as hair loss continues to progress, the individual hairs continue to thin and decrease in diameter. If a hair has not yet decreased approximately 50% of its original diameter, it is still decently strong and can be maintained or recovered though proper medication and topical treatment, and donor hair cannot be transplanted too heavily into this area because it can damage the native hair too much. For hairs that have lost over 50% of their original diameter, they essentially cannot be rejuvenated, and these areas are the areas that can be transplanted into without hesitation. This is why, as we know, hair transplants cannot always go full-on straight up to the final/ultimate predicted edge of all future hair loss. They have to be done carefully and safely in respect to existing hair. The edge of the ring of hair loss, in advanced cases like mine, can also continue to lower over the years.

So, priority was filling all the areas where the hairs have lost enough diameter and density that they can never be recovered. Areas that still contain decent amounts of hairs and decent hair thickness were filled with less density of transplanted hair, creating a proper gradient. Lateral humps and lower crown were addressed in this manner.

Dr. Sethi also consulted with me that my preexisting hairline was acceptable at about 8-8.5 cm (above glabella) but that he really tries to get patients to around 7 cm and it's especially a big benefit to young guys to have strong framing of the face. He recommended a hairline and temple design alongside Dr. Das that we would try to tackle after the lateral humps and lower crown, if donor supply was good enough. Dr. Bansal also counseled me on the perspectives of the temple and hairline plan, all making clear that it was completely my decision to make if I wanted to do the hairline and temple work after the sides and back. I decided that I wanted to do it, if we had solid enough donor for it not to be unwise. Dr. Das did end up feeling confident enough in all my donor to continue and tackle the hairline and temples. The temples were of course addressed in a gradient as well, with lighter hair starting at the fronts and then progressively thicker hair toward the back sections.

    Β

    In summary

    • 2977 grafts total
      • 2,020 on lateral humps and lower crown
      • 305 on right temple
      • 310 on left temple
      • 192 on new hairline
      • 150 behind hairline
    • Donor:
      • 2650 from back/side scalp
      • 162 from right side locks
      • 165 from left side locks

Dr. Das and Dr. Somesh created the slits; Dr. Somesh also sat in during some of the implantation and talked to me a lot, and Dr. Sethi dropped in a few times.

    Β

As always, I am extremely thankful to and appreciative of the entire team, to every single member including those who greeted me, took my vitals, prepared my medication, took all the photos, counseled me on the design, administered the local anesthesia, extracted, separated, and implanted my grafts, cleaned me up, comforted me, conducted post-care, and all my chauffeurs and all the staff who made the visit and transportation possible.Β I feel excellent about the way this one is going to turn out. Another handful of long months ahead for growing :)Β

    Congrats buddy and happy growing!!

Take my donor! Take it away! I want that beautiful dark brown hair on the top and around the crown. If we can achieve a full visual redistribution with this procedure, I expect I’ll be pretty satisfied for life.

Anyone think I need any more frontal work? I understand that my donor is limited. So I will want to take care of the crown and side ridges first. And I can always grow my hair longer in the front to help hide the hairline area. The problem is the receding temple areas. How many grafts would be needed for temple reconstruction? What do you think?

Yes for the temple reconstruction will serve you well in the future.Β
    Β

i would say 200-225/ each side atleast. Mine were little over 250 on eachside from Dr Das.

  4. I am approaching 3 months post hair transplant- see my journey below.Β
    Β

I do see some growth in the transplanted area, however, due to my white hair… its not as visible. I have resisted dying the transplanted area since my surgery 3 mos ago.

Can I dye my transplanted area? Will it pose a risk to the growth in the area?Β
What hair colour/ dye brands are recommended?Β
