Hi everyone, thank you for the answers. Gonna try to reply to everyone with one message.

First of all let me add that when I asked why FUT this time, Dr. Wong told me "is less stress on the grafts and is trying to rule out any reason why you didn't have 100 regrowth." Don't really get what he means with "trying to rule out any reason why you didn't have 100 regrowth."

Also, my dermatologist told me to get the 50% refund and don't have an other transplant at all, as my donor area is not "abundant." But H&W told me in their evaluation that I have less than average hair on the sides, and average hair in the back. So I guess I need to clarify this with my dermatologist first.

Before having a new surgery anyway, I agree that I need to understand if there's anything on my scalp. What kind of test should I ask for my dermatologist to do?

As someone has mention, yeah I am not definitively happy with this result. I hope I could solve this hair issue once and for all, since I have been fighting with hair loss since I was 16. Pretty much 16 years of minoxidil. It's kind of exhausting, above all when you don't see the result.

I see majority of you are saying to look for a new doctor instead of going again with Dr. Wong. Maybe that's what I should do as I am also located in Europe, so not easy financially and in terms of time to go to Vancouver. Also I am scared that I get a FUT, a scar but again no result.

Also if it was not clear from my previous message, just want to clarify that I will not be charged for the 1500 grafts

You have some excellent doctors in Europe that are listed right here on this site. I would get my refund, see my dermatologist, then consult with a few of the great doctors promoted here.

As for his comment about FUT (100 regrowth) I can only guess it’s due to FUT vs FUE success rate. Just a guess.

    Good luck, and don’t despair.

12 months post op. Dr. Wong said only 50% regrowth in his opinion and doesn't know the reason. He gave me 2 options:

Either he is gonna refund me 50% of the surgery or he will perform a new surgery, FUT this time, 1500 grafts.

I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?

You are obviously not happy with the results. I would take the refund and choose another doctor.

Both Konior and Ahmad gave great answers to my questions and gave near identical estimates for required grafts (between 2k and 2.4 k grafts), and I liked that because they both look to be very efficient with the grafts they use (which is important to me since I want to preserve as much donor as possible).  I also had a meeting with an H&W consultant, but was give a rough estimate of 3.5k-4k grafts (which would wipe my donor out entirely, and confirmed my decision to go with a doctor doing the surgery instead of a technician-heavy one where they usually go very high with the graft count).  I also reached out to Zarev, but his assistant said he's booked up for consultations for 2 years, plus another 2 years after that for surgery (which simply doesn't make sense for me).

Konior is a lot closer to me geographically (and wouldn't require a flight), so I was initially geared toward Konior so I started consulting with him first.  However, he does insist on an in-person consultation (which is fine) but I ended up doing a consultation (via video chat) in the meantime with Ahmad.  Ahmad also shared a lot of crown-specific photos and videos, which were very impressive (not many docs like to share their crown results).  Both were very responsive.

I guess I just jived with Ahmad well (we have similar personalities), and I decided to take geography out of the equation.  I didn't end up scheduling an in-person consult with Konior, but I'm sure he would have been good too.  Overall cost and graft count estimates were the same (and both had availability in 2024), but I've seen a lot more results from Ahmad (both on this site and what was shared by him with me).

Hi all, haven’t posted in years but I wanted to add something on Konior. I had my surgery with Dr. Konior in 2016 and I couldn’t be happier. I do need a second ht that I have to schedule. I read that Konior is about to retire and he’s not taking any appointments for 2024 but I haven’t contacted his office yet.

Anyway, Dr. Konior is top notch and an absolute magician with hairlines. My hairline was gone when I had my procedure. He did such an outstanding job that I still am in awe at how natural it looks. Bucky, I don’t know if you’ve scheduled anything with Ahmad yet, but I can say that you would be in outstanding and gifted hands with Dr. Konior.

    Good luck with your choice.

    Hi all!

Here are the 2 months post-op updates. I think it's all pretty average for 2 months. I was hoping for a bit more since I'm taking oral fin and oral minox, but that's just me being greedy.

You can see a small red area in the recipient zone where I recently popped a pimple. I've been getting small pimples on the recipient area for the last month or so. Apparently this is normal as hair starts to grow. Dr. Konior told me to lightly scratch them in the shower once they've formed a head so the puss can come out (gross, I know).

Other than that, no major updates. Scar is finally healing a bit and itchiness around recipient area is pretty common at night.

    Thoughts?

Patience, patience, patience. I too was a little worried after two months. The growth will come in after the shed  and I trust you will be very happy.

Patience, you went to one of the top docs in the industry .

Thanks fellas. T-minus 8 days... Definitely the strangest procedure I've ever done. When I say "strangest", I'm sure it's just me projecting my thoughts on this because I don't know anyone personally who's had this done... and the words "hair transplant" have always had such an embarrassing , negative connotation associated with it. Probably from movies and so on, growing up. Thanks for the support everyone. I think I'll need every bit of it.

I chose Konior four years ago and I'm glad I did. You are in excellent hands and you will love the result..

    Good luck and happy growing!

Hello All, I have been an avid reader of this forum for several years now and want to thank Melvin and the members whom have made me feel very informed on the process due to sharing their experiences.

I finally decided to get a FUE HT last year and I contacted Konior, Shapiro, Feriduni, Hasson and Bauman. I did not care for Shapiro and Baumans sales people. Feriduni never replied and Hassons sales person was very helpful and informative however Konior replied to me directly which I found important to me. As such I thought the best doctor for me would Konior in Chicago. Tbh I found his work to be the most natural looking. I also like that he does most of the work himself and uses techs minimally.

However, covid hit a week after my decision and everything fell on the back burner. I recently reached out to Konior and he said he is booked till March 2021. However Dr. Nadimi in his office and appears to have trained under Konior would be available in half the time.

Konior suggested 2500 grafts at $12 each and Nadimi 3000 grafts at $8 each.

Is it worth waiting the extra 6 months to have the HT with Dr. Konior or are Nadimi’s results on par with Konior? After all she trained under him. I mention the pice difference but I am not motivated by that. I want the best result.

    Hi,

I had a procedure with Dr. Konior four years ago and I cannot say enough good things about him. I'm pretty confident that anyone trained and endorsed by him would also do outstanding work. Dr. Nadimi's results are also outstanding.

It would absolutely be worth the wait for Konior. However, if you can't wait, you can't go wrong with Nadimi.

    Good luck!

  7. Today is 4 months exactly since my FUE procedure and the results are outstanding so far. People are commenting on how great it looks and other men with thinning hair are asking what I did. I still have a lot of growth to go so I am, finally, really excited and pleased. Money well spent.

I do monoxidil only once a day because it makes my scalp itchy and dry. Now that I have hair, I use argon oil after I wash it to soften it up. Finestricide, of course, once a day. I rotate shampoo and conditioners throughout the week including once or twice a week Nizoral shampoo. I think it's best to only shampoo your hair every other day of you can stand it (I usually can't).

I'll update again in another month or two, depending on changes. Good luck!

    Looking good, man.

    :)

  8. Looking to go back in during the next couple weeks and get another 600 grafts or so in order to do the temple points....he left two areas untouched from where he took the original FUE so they will be perfect areas to take the temple points from. These are pre-op pics and also 1-2 day post OP. All were done in the hairline (where I was totally bald) and the very thinning frontal forelock-type area. The original plan was to do 3,000 FUT....but on the day of surgery, it was mutually agreed that FUT may not be the best scenario given I have a bit less density on my sides/back and that I do normally wear my hair a bit shorter on the sides/back. It just wasn't worth the risk in the small event the scar widened, etc.

Pain....hardly any. A 2 on a scale of 1-10. Hardest part of the surgery was sitting in uncomfortable positions for long periods of time. I took pain pills for one day and probably didn't even need them. Had a bit of swelling yesterday (Clingon style) but really iced it a lot and massaged it last night....swelling is much less today)....have a small bruise right under the hairline as you can probably see....quite normal, will be gone by the weekend probably.

    Hi Matt,

Congrats on your procedure. Did you both plan on maybe going FUE before surgery day? I'm thinking it would be hard to plan finances with a last minute change.
