not using any products such as concealer or Toppik and so on and furthermore never will 😊. My hair can look somewhat grey on top depending on the light, but I am pretty grey at the sides. I also haven’t dyed my hair but it’s an option I am considering when the crown is grown out after the 2nd op.

Here are pics taken after shaving it down. The hair will look more dense when grown out of course. The donor looks ok I guess but let me know what you think.

Looks good. Cant see any scars in that picture with that lighting.

Right 7 and a half months post op. Pic dated exactly 7 months post op. Shaved it down to a 6 guard on top and 3 at the sides  last week again cos of the crown.

note could not resist changing my user name to a bad pun. 😆

    Looks perfect. congratulations!

The top hair appears darker now compared to the sides and the pre-transplant top hair.

Are you using any thickening products or hair dye in that picture?

How is your donor areas looking with the 3 length on the sides? Can you see the scars at 3 or 2 length?

I think your best option is to grow it out for a few weeks/months. Try and get rid of the redness and inflammation, hydrate, avoid direct sun exposure, don't wear a helmet...

Here are two pictures from my post-op, after 2 and 6 weeks: the shock loss was still there, but much less noticeable. So don't worry too much for the moment,it will get better!

Your hair in the 6 week pic looks like it was never harvested. Nothing to worry about.

Also note that he wasn’t actually “bald”. ie slick bald with no hair, in the mid scalp and crown. Rather, he was diffusely miniaturized. In some patients miniaturized follicles can be salvaged and start to produce healthy hair again once DHT is blocked. Once slick bald, however, I’ve never seen fin be able to regrow hair.

6 months is likely far too fast to experience the miraculous unicorn level hyper-growth finasteride results that would be necessary for the appearance of natural full thickness in the photos.

It’s more likely that this patient is using a concealer(s) and some carefully selected lighting in the photos they supplied.

Again, without more info and more photos, it’s impossible to make an  informed assessment in this case.

The clinic have stated that the patient started on 1mg daily finasteride post surgery - which by the looks of things, has contributed overwhelmingly to the final result by thickening up the areas of thinning that weren't surgically treated. Finasteride can have this affect in some patients.

    Other factors that you should consider are;

Length of hair is longer in the post op pics, which contributes to the illusion of density via the layering effect.
Lighting is different, which also contributes to the illusion of further density.
We don't know whether the patient has used any sort of fibres or concealer in his midscalp or crown section in the post op pics - this could be a possibility.

You are correct that there are still too many unknowns in this case.

More photos and details about the case are required before one can make a truly informed assessment of the outcome.

Finasteride can re-grow hair on some people, yes. This isn't news.

So you are suggesting that finasteride grew-back almost a full of hair from a head that was approx 85% bald already?

This case would probably be the most miraculous hair-growth story ever seen for Finasteride if your assertion is correct.

    Finasteride

Finasteride can now re-grow hair on someone who is already 85% bald and make their hair look almost full again?

This must be a new secret-formulae finasteride, because the one currently on store shelves doesn't do miracles like that on bald people.

Where can I buy some of this new miracle hair grower?

He did not get that many grafts, if I recall he had around 1,500 each session, so 3,000 grafts. Growth wasn’t good, but not terrible, that’s how 3,000 grafts on a norwood 6 with thin hair looks.

I cannot find before/after pics of both surgeries to see where all the grafts were placed.

The 2020 pic is horrendous. It shockingly appears as if only about 500 grafts have survived out of 3000(or more) grafts.

3000 grafts should have been enough to cover the frontal 3rd of his head with decent density. But alas, there is almost nothing left in the spots where the 3000 grafts were placed.

Why did he lose most of the 3000 transplanted grafts? This is the thing that should be of biggest concern to anyone considering a HT.

All of you guys are wrong, that’s his hair from the hair transplants. He wears hair loss concealer, so these pictures were taken without the hair loss concealers.

You guys have to remember, he was a Norwood 5 by 25, he’s now going on 35. He’s had two surgeries with a maximum of 3,500 grafts. That’s how 3,500 grafts will look on a Norwood 6, which he would’ve been by now.

He would have no hair left on his head without hair transplants. He can always have another hair transplant with a better doctor. I’m sure he will when he retires.

IMHO, he probably had between 5000-6000 or more grafts over the two verified surgeries over the last few years..

Shockingly, it looks to me that lonly 1000 grafts have survived.

In addition, he likely has very few hairs remaining on the aide of his head for a 3rd transplant.

This is one of the worst results I have ever seen.

Considering he Is a high profile athlete, and he used a very high profile clinic in London, this raises questions about the efficacy of hair transplants in general.

There are allot of questions that all the Doctors on the forum should be answering in regards to what went so terribly wrong with this case.

Are hairs from the “safe zone” really safe after all?

What else could have gone so wrong with TWO surgeries?

    Hi Newby888 and HRSN community,

This is a response to Newby888 and my last post (for some years at least) . I have written extensively already for 8 months now and have completed my mission of giving a full and honest recount of my experience. I want to move on with my life now. Thanks for understanding.

    So now my answers.

    1. No topik or any concealer was applied. That would defeat the purpose of these posts so would not make sense to do.

    2. I am not an expert on density. What I can tell you is that I feel my density has improved somewhat from month 5 (approximately 35% more). Go back and see pictures. And so, again even with short hair, full light on, etc, result looks really natural, normal and good enough for me, even though I am a demanding guy. Also, people I talk too tell me they did not know I had an operation and everything looks great. I hope this relieves your doubts.

The only recommendations I would have for Dr. Laorwong would be that:

    1. before operation he try to be a little more methodical and explain the step by step process in a little more process-like and clear manner so as to appear more professional. This would help bring his approach to the level of an expert surgeon and help his patients feel they are in the hands of an expert and therefore feel really comfortable/relaxed before, during and after operation.

    2. He show a little more empathy to his patient. Again for the purpose of relieving stress of patient.

Having said all this, Dr. Laorwong's approach and attitude was good enough for me and though the intervention was not exactly cheap, I think the result is worth the price. In conclusion, if I had to do over at same price, I would go back to him for sure. Best,

    Peter

    Thanks for the reply Peter.

Honestly, based on the last set of pics you posted, you have one of the best results i have ever seen on this website. It looks completely natural in those pics.

Thanks for confirming your hair in the pics does not have any concealers.

Just one final clarification about a question that i had asked in my original post if you don't mind... under harsher light or sunlight, does  your new hair in the front look the same thickness as your original hair behind it?
