  1. Hair is getting long again, but it is really starting to fill in. 9 months now.
  2. I live and spend a lot of time at the beach from March until August surfing and such. As a result my hair gets extremely blonde during the spring and summer. Now it is back to its original color. The transplanted hairs are the same color as the rest of my hairs. It is actually the left that is not quite as filled in as the right. But I think it is more that the right has come in really well rather than the left coming in poor. I may go back in and have them do a small session on the left, but really I am more than fine with how it is now. Plus, I am only at eight months and probably have a few more months of growing left. Also, I do think some if it is the camera. I will say this. I work in a very, very bright office building. It is filled with those horrible lights that make even people with great hair look poor. Before, when I stared in the mirror you could see through my hair and to my scalp. Now you can't on either my left or right.
  3. Here are some photos are exactly eight months: 2,800 Grafts with Dr. Cooley - Page 9 - Forum By and for Hair Loss Patients
  4. Here are some recent photos: 2,800 Grafts with Dr. Cooley - Page 9 - Forum By and for Hair Loss Patients Exactly eight months with Dr. Cooley. I never tried Rogaine. I have been using generic Finasteride and have not experienced any side effects.
  5. I have never tried Rogaine. I use generic Finasteride and haven't experienced any side effects at all. I think it really helped to stop any further loss. But I would stop in a second if I experienced any of the potential side effects I hear on the commercial.
  6. As requested here are some photos as exactly eight months. Please forgive my camera. I am using an old Macbook Air and the photo quality is not great. I would say that it actually makes my hair look worse than it really is. I tried a bunch of angles and used a variety of flashes. What do you think?
  7. I will do that. The density has really come in since the last time I posted photos. I was taking pictures on this MAC from like 2008 and it always makes my hair look limp and shitty. In fact, it makes everything look pale and gross. Anyway I'll get some up later on this evening when I get home.
  8. Hey, I am at eight months with Cooley. You can go through my thread. Basically, I had around 2,800 graphs. Things were slow until around 5 months. Then my hair literally started exploding. It looks better now than it did as a senior in college. Lollie wasn't there during my actually appointment, but I can say that Dr. Cooley and his staff were some of the most professional, accommodating individuals I have ever met. I was a bit nervous going into the procedure, but after meeting them I was totally at ease. Remember, Lollie isn't the one putting hairs in your head. I would say my decision to go with Cooley was life changing and that is not hyperbole. I don't pretend to be an expert in HTs but I feel I did my research in that I spoke with many Cooley patients before going through my procedure. All of them had what I would say were good to amazing results. I may go back for a second one. Not because I need one, but because this one turned out so much better than I could have anticipated that I think with one more I could have Robert Plant hair. Well maybe that IS a bit hyperbolic. Anyway, happy to help if I can.
  9. Hey man! I will be eight months post-op from Dr. Cooley as of tomorrow. Sorry to hear things are taking this long. I think around four months I saw a little something, but I am not sure if that was just shocked hair returning. I would say around the middle of month 5 or early month 6 is when I really started seeing results. I am hesitant to add to the cacophony of "don't worry" but you really shouldn't. Easier said than done though, right? My hair is looking amazing right now and I am sure yours will be as well. I have never met a Cooley patient (and I have talked with A LOT of them) who did not see results. Good luck.
  10. I am cured! Well, not really. If only hair loss was that easy, right? What I mean is that I am back to around a Norwood 2. My hair looks awesome. I feel great. I no longer wear hats out in public. I think for 34 years old I have awesome hair. Thank you Dr. Cooley. Thank you so very much. But I suppose it is not all sunshine and roses. I stabilized my hair loss with Propecia, but I imagine at some point in the future I'll be back to battling loss. My hope is though, I can maintain what I have now (and I think I will be able to) for another 10-12 years and at that point who knows what will be available. Hair Transplants aren't cheap. The process is frustrating. But this is by far the best thing I could have spent $10K (I think it was around there) on. Good luck to everyone out there. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
  11. Straight up vanity, I suppose. I really do not need a second procedure. My hair, after seven months looks more solid than I could ever have dreamed of. I am 34 and my hair looks like it was at 24. That is not an exaggeration. I get a lot of comments on my hair and how it looks great for my age. Shallow? Yes. But it makes me feel good. I think with one more hair transplant, I would go from having good hair to having amazing hair. I did not think I would get the results I did after the first transplant, but now that they are coming through I am a 100% believer in the HT. With another 2,500 graphs I think I could have Hollywood style hair. Dr. Cooley was absolutely right on the graph numbers he recommended an about being conservative. I think that is a testament to his professionalism and dedication. I got everything I asked for and more...but now, I am greedy. The responsible thing to do is wait, I suppose in the event that better technology is available in 10 years or I lose more hair and need to call in the reserves. I think I am going to wait on a second procedure, but I don't know...life is pretty cool with good hair. I don't mean to sound cocky or like a d-bag, but I am just super happy about where I am at right now.
  12. Three months sucked for me. Really, four months sort of sucked. By month five I started noticing some serious gains. Stay positive.
  13. Hey everyone, I wanted to provide an update of where I am at since undergoing my procedure with Dr. Cooley. I am now officially seven months out and I could not be more pleased. I think most of the hair has already grown in, however I have noticed the transplanted hair getting stronger and thicker every day. The results are very natural and I am extremely glad I have been able to go throw this entire process without anyone ever knowing. I am going to wait for the year mark and then decide if I am going to do another procedure with Dr. Cooley or not. I would say that my hair is where it was in my early to mid-twenties. I think with a few thousand more graphs I could get back to where I was in college. Ultimately, I'll talk it over with Dr. Cooley and see what he suggests. Really glad I went through with this. I know hair transplants are not cheap, but I don't think I could have spent money on anything else that made me feel this good.
  14. One of the best decisions I have made. Of course still waiting on final results, but so far so good. I would just say skip the nonsense and just go straight to Cooley. You won't regret it.
  15. I also wanted to add that I got my hair cut really short a few weeks ago. I am sure many of you all can all relate, but I asked the barber to keep it long and instead she shaved it super short. Anyway, I was worried that you would be able to tell that I had an HT because I had always kept my hair long since getting it. But nope...still all good. Recipient area looks natural and even with clippers you can't see the donor scar.
  16. Going to be at five months here in six days. What do you think? Looks like my hair continues to thicken.
  17. I know this isn't the greatest show, but I wanted to provide an example of how I normally wear my hair. Fourth months ago you could see through the front part of my scalp. But now it is totally covered. The temples are transplanted hair.
  18. I feel amazing where I am at. I was at the pool today swimming laps and when I got out, I saw a group of people that I used to work with hanging out and I went over to talk with him. A girl was teasing this one guy about his hair and he said, "well not everyone can have hair like [insert real name] when they are in their thirties." I know it sounds shallow, but it really felt good. Especially because I used to get comments like that. I almost wanted to pull him aside and tell him, but I did not. I would say that I was a little stressed the first month or two. There was some shockloss and my hair overall just looked shitty. But I just did my best to not worry about it too much and kept thinking positive thoughts. By month 3' things started to get exciting. By month 4, I knew I made a great decision. Now at nearly month 5 I am freaking pumped. You'll be good. Your pictures show really clean work. You'll go through some ups and downs, but with your donor hair, I think you are going to look awesome.
  19. You look almost exactly like I did when I was one week out. The only thing I did not experience (at least not that I was aware of) was the bruising. But it sounds like that will pass. Fortunately I had a lot of mid-scalp hair to cover up the recipient area, but even at a week it was noticeable if I pulled my hair back. I took two weeks off from work and remember that by the time I got back I was good to go. You are looking great for a week out. The donor area will continue to improve and once the scabs fall off, it will be a big difference in appearance. Have you seen this thread yet? It is another Dr. Cooley patient. He documents the highs and lows for about 7 months. I assume he disappeared because his hair looks amazing and he has moved on. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/170209-my-2500-grafts-hair-transplant-w-prp-acell-treatment-journey-dr-cooley.html
  20. I was pretty cautious for the first 10 days. I started combing after the first 6-7. And didn't start fully shampooing until 10. By day 14, I was back at work without a hat. As far as getting the ointment on the scar, I was pretty bad at that. I only applied it about a dozen times. I was in the same position that you are, in that I have a lot of donor hair and it was hard to get it. My scar still turned out fine, but you probably shouldn't go the route I did and find a way to get it on there. Donor scar was still a little sore for the first two weeks. By the end of the month it was totally fine. There would be this phantom pain every so often once I got the stitches out. But after two months, I couldn't even tell I had a scar. I would say your are right were you should be at day 6.
  21. This looks like solid, clean work by Dr. Cooley. I went through everything that you are describing in regards to regarding tightness, feeling more bald when my hair was wet, etc. However, like you said, the pain was minimal (I kept expecting it to get worse, which it never did) and I felt back to normal after 4-5 days. Just remember to keep spraying those graphs. I made a promise to myself that I would not make any sort of judgment on my progress or even think much about it until at least 3-4 months. I did my best to hold myself to that promise, which I am very glad that I did. You could literally spend hours in the mirror looking at your hair and making yourself crazy. Now at month four I can honestly say this was a life changing event. I feel great about myself. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Cooley. You chose an awesome doctor and you'll have amazing results. Glad you ended up with 3,000. I think that is a proper number. Heal well and let me know if I can answer any questions along the way.
  22. Fourth months and seven days. Coming along quite nicely.
