  1. Today it's the 6th day since I have reduced my Fin dose from 1mg to 0.5mg, my itching has reduced significantly. My scalp pain was so bad that even shampooing was a painful act for me and that pain while shampooing has also reduced now. I believe that I didn't shed loads of hair in the last two showers(too early to say this i know).

These may not be the direct side effects of Fin but Fin is causing them indirectly(probably by messing up the hormones).

  2. Sheraz,

Where did you hear the term "reflex hyperandrogeniecity?" This makes it sound like the finasteride increased your androgen hormone levels?

I've never heard of finasteride increasing hair loss. You could be a "non-responder," and the increased acceleration and increased sebum production are actually just the results of your progressive androgenic alopecia?

    Have you seen a doctor?

Yes I did talk to the doctor about Fin being the cause of my itchy scalp but he thinks otherwise!, I wasn't balding this fast before starting Fin in june 2013 but since starting Fin I have shed not stop and now the top is visibly bald

  3. Yes I have seen more than 10 different dermatologists since the condition appeared. Most of them diagnosed it as SD, one as Lichen Planus and a couple of them suggested me to do a biopsy. Almost every derm gave me steroids to use. I've had steroids in oral, injections and topical form and nothing has improved. Nizoral and tgel didn;t work. I've shared my concerns with derms regarding Fin being the cause of my condition, some of them didn't have much experience with Fin and other said it's unlikely to be related to Fin.

It's just my personal observation that Fin might have caused it as I didn't have anything like this before, it's nothing like normal dandruff or even severe dandruff, my scalp easily starts to bleed if my comb through extremely affected areas, even pushing against the scalp with my finger generates intense pain.

I've started to believe that I may have reflex androgenicity reaction to Fin.

  4. I have been on Fin(1mg/day) for 19 months now. I developed a bad case of dermatitis and scalp pain 2 to 3 months into Fin which I didn't have before and and it's still getting worse. I still don't know if it was Fin that caused it or it was just going to happen with or without Fin.

Last year(April 2014) I stopped Fin for two weeks and I can recall that my symptoms of dermatitis improved but due to fear of further losing hair I got back on it and also the dermatitis wasn't all that bad in those days.

Now that my dermatitis is worse than ever and I have been losing ground and getting visibly bald for the past 6 months or so. I have been thinking about stopping Fin for two months and see if my dermatitis improves but if it doesn't then I will be at great loss.

So, recently I have thinking about reducing my dosage to half than to stop completely. So, what do you guys think is better .5mg/ED or 1mg/EOD?

What if I switch to Dut? probably will make symptoms worse!? what do you think!

  5. I had two injections of triamcinolone acetate(40 mg each) 1 week apart, used prednisone(15mg/day) for two months and used topical diprosono for two two weeks(2 times/day). All these meds were taken between May and July 2014.

I experienced massive thinning of hair in September 2014 and hair continues to thin all over the top. I'm on Finasteride since June 2013.

I am worried and wondering if these meds have accelerated my balding.

  6. Hi, from reading your other posts, you have seborrheic dermatitis. There is no cure for it. It can be controlled, but it will flare up from time to time. Your best bet is to use an anti fungal shampoo regularly, and a steroid lotion when needed for flare ups.

    No supplement will help.

    I hope this helps

    Thank you for the reply!

I was taking a multi-multivitamin(perfectil) before and it pretty much arrested the dryness but gave me more flakes and something in that multivitamin is making me shed more hair.

Now that I'm off that multi-vitamin, my scalp is back to being extremly dry and it still flakes.

I'm looking for that specific vitamin which will soothe the dryness. Perfectil has a long list of ingredients in it and I don't which particular one was helping with the dryness.

    Thanks

  7. I had a severe case of dandruff(Seborheic Dermatitis) in the last winter (January-March 2014). After that I still had dandruff but not that severe.

I was dandruff free from June to November 2014 and in the middle of November I started taking multivitamin (Perfectil).

Immediately after starting Perfectil I noticed that my scalp became oilier and my hair were greasy. Scalp and hair have remained greasy since starting Perfectil.

From the past month I'm experiencing a great deal of painful dandruff and I'm wondering if it's related to the oilier scalp caused by Perfectil.

Please share if you know any information regarding any multivitamin causing dandruff(Seb. Dermatitis)!

    P.S.

I actually like the greasy effect of multivitamin as it gives softness and shine to my hair.

This is the formula of Perfectil vitamins

  8. Everybody is different but adding Min into the mix may help you also, so your doing all what you can at this stage.

How long have you been on Fin for?

What NW scale do you think your at?

I've been on Fin since June'13. My hair were good till Sept'14 and then suddenly I started thinning again with a heavy shedding which continues to this day. I'm thinning in NW 6 pattern and 22 years old.

  9. I've been on Fin for 18 months or so and I believe that it slowed my hair loss. In October this year I was on Sporanox 100mg/day for 15 days and soon after starting it I started noticing thinning of hair which has continued to this day.

I google about itraconazole-Finasterdie interaction and found out that Itraconazole inhibits the enzyme 'CYP3A4' which metabolites Finasteride.

Does it mean that Itraconazole decreased the effectiveness of Finasteride?

  10. I am 22 and diffused NW6. I've been on Fin for 17 months and it had slowed my hair loss and my hair line was somewhat intact but two months back I started notice thinning on hair line, top and crown area. Now my hairline is not intact anymore, it has thinned overall and there has developed a large spot on the middle of hair line. Top and crown areas has extremely thinned out.

I've shed heavily for majority of the time after I got on Fin and in the last two months there's little but not significant increase in shedding compared to before. Two months ago my hair were not too bad compared to when I started Fin but now I'm balder than ever.

    Is Fin losing effectiveness?
