Super cool to see a 10 year post-op result - haven't seen many long-term results posts here before.

You mentioned before you were using topical minoxidil, did you continue that for the full duration of the 10 years? and did you ever start taking fin as well?

I didn’t use anything beyond I think 3/4 months after the procedure.

It is interesting to see that the hair which I still have is the transplanted hair!

So I’d be pretty bald without the op.

  2. Hi everyone,

So in 6 weeks it will have been 10 years to the day of my transplant!

As you can see, the donor hair has remained, however I have lost lost of my natural hair.

I'm considering another transplant to thicken things up.

I can see that since I had this done, prices are far more favourable as there are so many more doing the procedure now.

Anyway, I thought I'd offer a 10 year update for all those who followed this thread, from when I had the procedure.

    All the best!

  3. Thanks Clemens, Looks like I"ll be on the meds then forever. No biggie I guess!

Hadenough2014 - sorry for missing your earlier question re curl. I guess I've always had a slight curl when it gets to a certain length. I've always had short hair and generally would have it cut around the time that the curl kicks in!

In terms of the Crown... during the consultation with Dr Demirsoy I asked if, with the number of hairs he would be transplanting, he would be able to cover the crown as well. He said I would need a further procedure to get full coverage.

However, he did say he would do a design which helps cover the crown when looking from behind, straight on and the sides. When viewed from the top, it is still obvious that I have loss there.

BUT, he did place some grafts onto the crown as it turned out he was able to extract more healthy grafts than originally thought. I'm not not sure how many were placed onto the crown in the end, but it has certainly made a massive improvement. I used to run my hand over the crown and I'd feel the skin, however now it feels just like a normal head of hair, albeit a slightly thinner one.

I know I've said it before, but everyday I wonder to myself what it would be like if I hadn't had the procedure done and it almost scares me to think that I was humming and harring over whether to go ahead! I am so glad I followed my instincts and went for it - it's gotta be one of the most significant and best decisions I've ever made.

Anyone who is contemplating it - absolutely do it. I promise you it'll have so many positives and no doubt change a lot of people lives for the positive :D

Happy New Year everyone. Live long and prosper! And grow hair.

    ;)

  4. Merry Crimbo everyone!

On Jan 3rd it'll be exactly 12 Months to the day I had the op.

Here's the latest pics for you. Hope it helps everyone out who is browsing and contemplating getting it done!

CLEMENS - can you clarify something for me please...

I was told to take Monoxidil foam for 12 months post op. I obviously stopped for a little while but since your post where you told me to continue, I have done so.

Apart from the 12 Months of Minoxidil - is there anything else I should be taking? You mentioned Finisteride a few posts ago? And should I take minoxidil foam forever now? I originally was told I'd only need it for 12 Months?

    Cheers!

  5. I took Kelp because I've heard it's good for hair over the years. Could be a load of rubbish, but my mum always swore by it, so it must be true right... ;-)

Kelp was just one a day tablets from an online vitamin store, can't remember which.

Didn't use Propecia. I tried it a few years ago and it didn't seem to do anything, so I stopped using it.

IMO, and obviously based on my results, Dr Demirsoy is absolutely brilliant at what he and his team do.

  6. In terms of supplements etc I took:

    Kelp first 8 months

    Biotin tablets 8 months

    Minoxidil Foam 8 months

I was advised to take minoxidil for 12 months however I found that my hair became too long for the foam as it ended up being greasy.

The crown is definitely getting better and the results so far are beyond what I thought they would be. I am not going to get any more procedures done is respect of the crown.

  7. Cheers guys.

I'm not going to have anything more done - the crown is still growing and I can feel new hairs sprouting through as my barber pointed out (he's very interested in my experience!).

Clemens contacted me and advised that I continue Minoxidil, so I have ordered another 6 months worth. I'm also taking Kelp and Biotin Tablets each morning.

Definitely one of the best decisions I've made in my life! To anyone wondering whether or not to do it.... I would say absolutely do so! :-)

  8. I had a procedure with Demirsoy in Jan this year. It took 14 weeks before my shedding stage stopped and the growth began, with a noticeable difference after 16 weeks (see this thread for results so far: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/175014-demirsoy-before-after-16-weeks-3750-fue.html).

Sit tight and don't worry. And make sure you are taking your Biotin Tablets, and Minoxidil.

I've also been taking Kelp and have been eating a lot more Omega three via Fish.

  9. I think it's growing...? Although sometimes it looks like it's just stuck with the original longer bits getting longer alone. What do you guys think?

I wonder if I should get the longer bits only trimmed? I don't want to trim the implanted bits as that seems pointless when they are growing. Thoughts?

How do you deal with this time when some bits seem to be growing faster than others?

  10. There are variables and it's not as simple as saying "1 day = x amount of grafts". Variables include (but not limited to) patient scalp tension, blood flow, how healthy grafts are when removed (everyone is different) availability of donor hair (some have a very strong donor area, some is weaker and thinner) which can all affect the extraction and implantation.

I am sure there are more reason but a Dr will probably give you more info!

  11. Great stuff Jim. Good luck and I hope you manage to get a few hours sleep at least!

Your design looks very similar to my frontal design, so it'll be interesting to watch our comparisons.

If you are interested, I have put some new comparison photo's up showing pre up to now on my thread here as the most recent post: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/172724-fue-procedure-3750-grafts-jan-02-2014-dr-demirsoy-7.html

    Cheers mate, keep us updated!
