  1. I bought this recently at the recommendation by my hair stylist. http://www.amazon.com/DS-Laboratories-Revita-Stimulating-Shampoo/dp/B002UD52WQ/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8 My problem is that lately I've avoided shampooing more than once a week because even light scalp massaging leads to my hand being full of shed hair. So this shampoo is supposed to help with my hair loss but it seems like it's making it worse by having to massage my scalp. Can anyone advise if this actually helps or does more damage? The package recommends using at least 5 times per week. Hair takes a few months to grow and be noticeable so if I'm shedding lots of hair 5 nights per week, wouldn't I be pulling out hair quicker than it can regrow??
  2. That actually brings up a question that I had about this... when I shampoo my hair and see a bunch of hairs on my hand, were those hairs that were already disconnected from my scalp or did scrubbing my scalp pull them out of where they were in my head?
  3. This is comforting. I've always been someone who washes his hair every night and it wasn't until the last few weeks that I noticed shampooing my hair leaves me with lots of hair in my hands, so I've cut the shampooing to about once a week. Crazy to think that my hair would probably look much thicker if I didn't shampoo so much
  4. This is great to hear. All of the hairs that I see lost are short and very thin, so fortunately I haven't lost any thick follicles. I also googled fin(after posting this) and saw that it's most noticeable after 1 year
  5. I got a HT 2 years ago and the new hair is growing fine enough, but I recently noticed that in the shower when I run my hands through my hair, a few hairs always end up in my hands. And in my sink there are hairs sporadically laying around. I've been on finasteride since around June or July, so I would think that 6 months would be enough to start the prevention of hair loss, but is it not enough? Should I also be using something else to help with it?
  6. I figure I would take some pictures to update on my hair. All of the transplanted hair is growing. It seems like the natural hair on top grows a little faster because the top seems longer(in a faux hawk style). The follicles were put in standing straight up so it's pretty difficult to get my hair to lay down and even if it does, it isn't all straight, it kinda curls around in weird ways. I would say that I am *mostly* happy with the results, and of course a follow-up HT would be best to put hair in between the new hair, but I don't have the time and I work around customers all day so it would be too embarrassing. The section where the hair was transplanted is noticeably thinner if you look close. But if you're standing 3ft away or farther, it's hardly noticeable. Also I've been taking prescription finasteride for the last 4 months. Not sure if it's helping but my hair that I had before feels like it is thicker than before the HT. Unforunately I know that it can't thicken the hair that was transplanted
  7. Not sure what you mean by miniaturization. I just ordered nizoral 2% online based on reading from other posts here, hope to start that soon. My concern with fin is the sexual side effects. But nowhere can I find exactly how often it occurred among users. If anyone can help with that, I'd greatly appreciate it. Since I already spent the money on the comb, I'll just continue to use it. It might not help but it can't hurt. And I've attached a pic from right after the HT
  8. I read stories and see videos about guys talking about their hair loss and how they see hair falling off and into the sink or in their shower... but I've never noticed that before. My hair is longer now and I notice a bigger gap between the old hairline and the new hair, but I don't know if that's normal or if my hair is still receding. I've been using the hairmax lasercomb(yes, I know everyone here bashes it) and 5% monoxidil. I'd really like to avoid propecia if possible so my question is a) does this look like the hairline has receded further, and b) what else can I take to prevent future hair loss? by the way, in the picture I combed the 2 separate hairlines away from each other so it doesn't look nearly this bad when all of the hair is in the same direction.
  9. I've read about the sexual side effects and I'm aware of them, but it finally hit me when I was reading the label that came with the pills and how it described side effects as "will continue after you stop taking" and that really worried me. The thing that I can't seem to find anywhere is the percentage of males that this occurred with during the study. Also, I've read on this forum about some guys bashing the hairmax lasercomb which I though would work well, so can somebody give factual information on either of these issues without incorporating their own biased opinion?
  10. But then you're like me where you get the HT but still are losing hair, then it looks really bad because of the noticeable split between new hair and previous hairline
  11. How do I get some of that? I never looked into it before and a google search didn't give much help. Is it entirely prescription? Or is there a generic that also works that is OTC?
  12. I've read about sexual side effects from propecia and would like to avoid that if possible. And I currently use the foam version of monoxidil
  13. I got my HT done last July and I'm mostly happy with the results. I've been using the hairmax lasercomb since the HT and about 3 months ago started using monodixil 5%. I feel like my hair may still be receding because of the noticeable space between my old hairline and the new one(in the picture I've attached), but I was told that the lasercomb would prevent any future hair loss. Is that no true? Is there anything I can take that will ensure no future hair loss?
  14. Haven't updated in a while so I figured I'd update. I've been using the hairmax lasercomb since the HT and started using monoxidil twice daily for about 2 months. I got a haircut a few weeks ago and the hair appears a little fuller when it's longer. I also have a trial order of Caboki in the mail and want to try to fill in the sides of the top where it appears thinner
  15. My only gripe was that they kinda concealed how long it would take to get results. They advertise on the radio saying "no scar, go back to work the next day" but that simply isn't true. I had a medical cap on my head for a day or so after, and then for a few weeks after, I had the scabs on the back and side of my head. And even after those were gone, the newly transplanted hairs mostly fell out and then took 4 months to even show a little bit of growth, then 6 months later the hair was actually visible. Also for about the first month, the white flakes that fall out look like terrible dandruff and it was quite embarrassing to go out in public. Even now, I saw the doc a month ago and he said I'm 2/3 of the way to 100% growth. He said it can take up to a year to be at 100% and that is definitely not what was conveyed in the consultations and radio ads, but then again I would probably be more hesitant to get it done if I knew all of these things. I'm lucky that I worked from home all while I was recovering, I seriously cannot imagine someone having a job where they have to interact with people all day while going through the recovery. It really looks terrible before it starts looking good. I've been taking a weekly video since before I got it done and I'll compile it all probably at the 1-year mark and post it.
  16. Yes, I remember my head being sensitive on the pillow for a month or even maybe 2. It wasn't painful to the point of waking me up, but I had to lay gently and if I rolled my head on the pillow, it would certainly catch my attention. The worst part was the itch because they tell me don't use my fingernails anywhere on my scalp and various parts itched so much sometimes, it was really hard to deal with. Then a span of a few weeks where my hair was so flaky and I couldn't get it all out that I tried to avoid going out because it looked like terrible dandruff. I don't really recall numbness in the donor area, other than it being sensitive to the touch for a month or so.
  17. fue. the doc's office calls it "neograft" but I'm not sure what that even means, compared to a regular fue transplant
  18. One other thing: I guess my hair was transplanted in the upward direction because it is pretty much stuck upward. It might look like I styled it like that, but I really have no choice. If I put full water pressure on it and pat it forward, it will kinda go forward, but will look very scattered, it won't go straight at all. Kinda upsetting but I guess I'm happier like this than I was before the HT
  19. I needed to post an update because in the last 2 months, I had more growth than in the previous 5. I had a 3 month checkup near the end of October with the doc and I was very unhappy with the growth. Then 3 months later I visited and I was much more happy. He claims that my hair growth and thickness is still about 2/3 of the way to 100%. Though I think that's a bit optimistic, I can definitely still feel small hairs just starting to grow, as well as current hairs that are very thin and haven't reached their full thickness. My hair still looks thinner in bright light, as you can tell by my pictures. I tried to get angles in the light and just outside the light. Unfortunately, I've only used a laser comb and never monoxidil, though I just started tonight so hopefully in 5 months when it's been 1 year since my surgery, I will have a healthy full head of hair.
  20. It would be best if you could post exactly where the grafts were placed right after surgery. The first pic you posted doesn't really look that bad, so it's hard to tell where the improvement will show.
  21. I just hit my 5-month mark and got my hair shaved yesterday and the hair stylist suggested shampoo with monoxidil in it. Now maybe he was just trying to sell me their product, but I know that many users on here use monoxidil. I know it's good to use, but my question is that since I bought the lasermax hair comb, and have heard wonderful things about its results, is the monoxidil really going to help me any more than the comb? I get if both would help me individually, but I don't want to buy the monoxidil if the comb will eventually give me the same exact results.
