  1. I came to this site to figure out how to stop my receding hairline. However, I have a lot of experience with working out and losing weight. There is a lot of BS "miracle diet plans" out there which are impossible to abide by. Here are a couple general tips that will help you lose weight: - Don't eat large meals. So many people want to sit down at dinner and eat a huge meal. This is horrible for you. Your body can only digest so much nutrients and calories in one sitting, the rest of the calories will not be efficiently used and turn to fat. Eat many small meals throughout the day. For example, eat some cereal with fruit for breakfast, have an apple for a mid morning snack, then one healthy sandwich for lunch, then a can of tuna around 2 PM, then maybe another sandwich for an afternoon snack. As you approach the evening, stick to low carb foods, such as a chicken breast for dinner and protein shack right before bed. This diet does a few things: 1. Eating constantly throughout the day keeps your metabolism running, thus burning calories and avoiding sugar highs, overeating/digestion fatigue/sleepy periods, etc. 2. Stops you from going to bed with a bunch of carbohydrates in your stomach, which turn to fat overnight since they are not being used. - Eat healthy whole foods. Stay away from processed foods, especially canned or frozen foods. This food is junk. If you are on the move and need to "eat out", go to a subway instead of a Wendys. It may be hard at first, but eventually your body will get used to it. Now if I eat at a fast food joint, my body isnt used to it and I usually feel sick to my stomach and almost throw up after eating that fast food junk. - Stay active. For some, this means going to the gym twice a day. For others, it means talking the dog out for a walk twice a day and maybe taking a walk at the local park for lunch. Also take up some hobbies, such as biking, hiking, etc, which require you to be active in something you enjoy. Once again, this targets your metabolism and keeps your body burning calories all day. In addition, it keeps your overall energy level high throughout the entire day. - Vegetables are worthless. Eat fruit instead, there are a lot of good nutrients and vitamins in fruit.... plus they usually taste good. Overall - keep your metabolism running steady and keep the carbo intake low. Good Luck Chris
  2. I just started using rogaine. I am shedding like crazy. I know it is common to shed for a few weeks when initially using rogaine. Is this initial shedding good? Does this mean that my scalp is responding good to Rogaine and it will eventually help regrow/maintaine my hair? Or can you have shedding even if your body doesn't respond well to rogaine? Thanks Chris
  3. As I read the label on Rogaine, and I believe I saw it on a Propecia description awhile back, they say that the medications work on the thinning of the crown on top of the head, but are not meant for the receding hairline at the front of the head? Is this true? Is there actually a difference on the parts of the head? Can you really stop hair loss on the top of the head but not the front? What are you opinions? I have been using rogaine on both the crown and my receding hairline. Thanks. Chris
  4. I am a 26 yr old who has been having a receding hairline and some slight thinning of my crown for the past 2-3 years. I started using rogaine on my receding/thinning frontal hairline about 5 months ago. There was some hair falling out when I first starting using it, but I heard this is normal for the first month or two using it. Well, i got to my 5th month using rogaine and it was still falling out at the same rate.... possibly even at a higher rate. I stopped using it a few weeks ago and there is no more noticable hair falling out. Is it possible Rogaine did the opposite and just made more hair fall out? What are your opinions? It may be time to see the doctor and get some propecia Thanks
  5. How do I go about getting propecia? Do I just go to a regular doctor and ask for a prescription? Or get a referral to a dermatologist? Thanks. Rogaine isn't doing the trick, my hair is falling out at an alarming rate, so i think it is time to go to the next step and use propecia.
  6. I'm sure there are a lot of different opinions on this one, but is it effective to use rogaine on the front hairline (receding hairline)? I have been using it this way. Initially, there was some redness/bumps where I was putting it, but I haven't had that side effect for awhile now.
  7. Interesting. I have been on rogaine for a good 3 months and the shedding has been pretty constant... so I guess it may actually be my hair falling out. I have been using rogaine on the receding hairline in the front of my head instead of the crown... is that ok? I may have to give in and go to the doc and get a prescription for propecia. I'm only 26 yrs old, but I'll try and stop it before it starts getting bad. Thanks.
  8. I have noticed my hair thinning so I have started to use Rogaine... I have been using it for about 3 months now I have been noticing that my hair has been falling out - been finding hairs on my pillow, the bathroom, etc. My questions is; is the rogaine causing my hair to fall out? or am I just physically losing my hair? Thanks. Chris
