  1. Thanks. I do use Nizoral, however not consistently enough. May I ask how often you use Nizoral? In terms of my itching, it wasnt that bad before surgery and the problem only really started post surgery.
  2. Thanks. I am considering moving to the foam option as well.
  3. Hi, I have been using generic propecia - Finax - for a while now and I am really starting to doubt its effectiveness. Since my FUE surgery, I have had an unbelieveable amount of shock-loss, continuing well into its 10th month now and I almost feel that the shock loss from the surgery far outweighs the benefit of the new hair. I am now really starting to think if the Finax I have been taking has been completely ineffective in handling this? I would love to have some thoughts on the effectiveness of the generic propecia? Also, I has to change to Propecia now what would be the best way to ensure that I am getting genuine propecia, considering I am based in Asia? Thanks
  4. Hi, Thanks for that May I ask if you are using the foam version by any chance?
  5. Hi, I am about 10 months post-op now after my FUE Procedure. Since the surgery I have had real issues with using Minox, as it seems to cause unbearable itching. Is this normal? Would appreciate some opinions on this.
  6. No, they are all day 3 pictures, taken just after my second 500 grafts surgery.
  7. Here is a really interesting picture of my 500 grafts taken during my second operation. What I found interesting was that there was no "white tissue" around most of the single grafts. I was told that usually single hair grafts do not have this and its normally only seen with doubles and triples. I wonder what your thoughts are on this as my initial understanding was that this is important for the hair to survive and regrow?
  8. Hi Guys, Sorry for the lack of updates as I have been super busy since coming back from the surgery trying to catch up on work. I will be exactly 1 Month post-op tomorrow. Attaching day 3 pictures below. I decided to get another 500 grafts done on the mid-scalp and crown region as I felt I needed more hair in those areas. Attached are pictures taken after my second 500 graft surgery. Do you guys feel the density is better on the middle scalp now?
  9. Hi, I just had my FUE with Dr. Hakan, and about the premises I can tell you that the new premises is pretty good. Its inside a private hospital hospital which looks fairly impressive and newly built.
  10. Hi, Dr. Hakan has a lot of recommendations and references on the forums, so you would definitely be making the right choice by going with him. Sorry for not being very clear, I agree, the frontal region has got more than enough grafts from the looks of it. I was actually referring to the region between the vertex and the front, i.e. the midscalp area. I have fairly light density of hair here, although better than the front and some density here would give me some hairstyle options but I do realise that working in areas with some hair density is a bit more challenging than areas with very low density of native hair due to the risk of damage to native hair.
  11. Hi, Had my surgery done today and thought this would be a good time to share my experience. I went for the less aggressive hairline and exactly 3000 grafts were taken. The breakdown of grafts was: Single: 1425 Double: 1425 Triple or More: 150 So I was a bit disappointed with there being just 150 grafts with 3 or more hair. Also quite a co-incidence that singles and doubles were exactly the same. I was really hoping for a lot more doubles and triples but I guess this is pretty much luck of the draw. My aim was to go for the less aggressive hairline but get the maximum density possible especially in the front area. While, I was told by the doctor that it would be hard to put too many grafts in the front to avoid damage to native hair, I really did want a bit more density here and hence repeated this quite a few times. However, I am not 100% certain, if I would achieve that density as based on the few pics I have taken I do see only a few grafts being placed in the frontal region (the area between the old hairline and the Vertex). I am currently not sure of the coverage I got in the Vertex and would try to get better pictures tomorrow morning when I see the doctor and go to get my hair washed. I would also like to have some honest opinions on the hairline? Does it look symmetrical and natural? I have also attached a picture of the "hospital room" for anyone who might be considering coming here. Apparently newer patients would be staying here for a day.
  12. Thanks for the opinion. I am also getting inclined towards the 3k, as I do feel the 4k one might be a little aggressive but would like some more opinions. Yes, I have been taking finax for a while now.
  13. David & Denny: Thanks Guys. I arrived in Antalya this morning and had my consultation with Dr. Hakan. I was told that I have a rich donor and hence 4k shouldn't be a problem (and I could have another 3k Donor left to be used in the future). Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow & day after and I need to make a call on the hairline. I have been given two options as shown in attached pic. The more aggressive hairline requires 4k grafts, while the top one needs 3k grafts. I initially came here with 4k grafts in mind and want to achieve the best possible look, however, I remember reading somewhere that its not a good idea to go for a very aggressive hairline as it could be hard to maintain in the future. I would absolutely love to have some advice from experienced patients on this. I only have a few hours to make the decision. I ideally want to achieve the best possible look, however, I would like to know if there are any pitfalls to going for the aggressive hairline. I do have a small forehead and the current measurement from the middle of my eyebrows to the beginning of my current hairline is about 6cm. Look forward to some ideas on this.
  14. Thanks Mate. Reaching Turkey in a couple of days so both excited and a little nervous.
  15. Hi Guys, I have my consultation booked on 23rd & transplant for 24th & 25th (2 day session, for a total of 4000 Grafts approx) with Dr. Hakan in Antalya. I am a 28yr old Male & I started losing hair around 19 and it has been a steady decline ever since. My father has great hair & my mother has decent hair too although some of my maternal uncles did suffer from hair loss in their mid 30's, however, I seem to have beaten them all to it. So, I am going into this with a lot of hope but realistic expectations. Most doctors would consider me a Norwood 4 approaching 5, while based on my pics at least one famous doctor classified me as a Norwood 5. The reason why I chose Dr. Hakan was because so far compared to some of the other docs in Turkey, the responsiveness of the admin staff has been excellent and they have got back to me with answers to all my questions very quickly. I am really looking forward to the same excellent experience after I reach Turkey. The fact that Dr. Hakan was good feedback on the forum here was a major factor in my decision to go with Dr. Hakan. I wanted to start a diary here so I could document my result, share my experiences and at the same time take advice & motivation from the veterans here. Attached are some of my pics to give you an idea of where I am currently at. My aim is to get cover my crown area covered as well as the front. One of my concerns I have is that while based on my pictures most doctors said I have a decent donor, one of the doctors mentioned I may have a weak donor, as my sides seem thin and possibly the back (Pls. see pics). I would love to have others thoughts on this. A quick question for the veterans. How did you pass your time while you were being operated? - Was it comfortable enough to say watch a movie on your Tablet? It sure seems like a pretty long session to be sitting idle. Thanks.
  16. Hi, Work isnt a big issue for me, as I can work from anywhere as long as I have my laptop. The reason why I wanted to stay for 5-6 days was 1. To travel around a bit in the city and experience a different culture (I wonder, if this is feasible after the transplant?) 2. To get rid of the majority of scabs to avoid embarassment on the airport/flight (especially during security check). Any thoughts?
  17. Hi, Thanks for sharing your experience. My current plan is to stay for another 5 days post-surgery, as I was hoping I would be able to go out with a cap. Could you tell me more about why you think this would be difficult? Thanks
  18. Hi, Based on those who have gone through FUE, I wonder, how the doctors kept a count of your grafts? Is it simply a manual count and you just have the take the doctors word for it, or are there systems in place which provide more concrete evidence of the graft count?
  19. Hi Guys, I will be getting my FUE done with Dr. Hakan in Feb. My current plan is, that I would stay there at least 9 days post-op so I could at least get rid of all the scabs before I fly back. However, I would love some opinions on whether there is any real benefit on it and if 9 days is enough for the scabs to shed? The clinic said I need at least 20 days to recover but I thought they might be referring to other factors? I wonder, if its really worth staying there for 9 days post-op or if I could fly back 4 days post-surgery? The doctors said I could fly back the very next day, but I would prefer to avoid that, as time is not a major concern for me, but I wonder if its worth staying the extra days?
  20. Hi, I have decided to go with 4k grafts with Dr. Hakan in Feb. However, I noticed most of the Belgium based doctors said anything over 3k is risky in one session (2 days) and suggest at least a 1 yr gap. Do you feel 4k with FUE is risky in any way?
  21. Hi, I am in the process of shortlisting my FUE Doctor and want to go for 4000 grafts. I was adviced by one of the doctors that doing more than 3000 Grafts (over a 2 day session) with FUE Is dangerous as it will damage the integrity of the donor area and result in a lower growth rate and wasted grafts. I would love to know the community's opinions on this?
  22. Thanks Guys. I do wonder however, why the Indian doctor is banned? Is it due to negative reviews or commercial reasons?
  23. Hi Guys, After researching for a whole, I have narrowed my research down to 3 doctors, 2 in turkey (Dr. Hakan & Dr. Koray) & Dr. ****** in Delhi. Dr. Hakan & Koray seem to both have good feedback and a similar level of feedback, however, I have been impressed by their customer service so far (quick responses) and they seem to offer slightly better value for money. So, I am trying to mainly choose between Dr. ****** & Dr. Hakan. Their pricing is very similar so I would love to have your thoughts on the two? The only advantage for me going with Dr. ****** would be convenience (As I intend to travel to Delhi and stay there for a while anyways). However, that should not be the primary factory and I am more than happy to visit Turkey for the better results. Would appreciate your advice.
  24. Hi Guys, I am planning to go in for my FUE HT at the Middle or end of Feb and would really appreciate some advice on a few issues. * I was earlier taking Finasteride (Finax) on and off for a while, and only recently (about 20 days now) starting taking it regularly. By the time, its time for surgery, I would have been on Finax on daily basis for about 2 and a half months. Would you say, I would be at a higher risk of shock loss because of this? * Out of the 3 doctors I have shortlisted, some of them mention that the extraction part is done by "Nurses" only and the doctors are not directly involved. Could this effect the quality of the end result? * Post Operation Make-up: I normally use Kaboki now and I wonder, if it would be the best product to cover up the post-surgery redness or if there are any other recommendations as I would ideally like to be able to go to back to work at the most 15 days after surgery (without any embarasement). Thanks
