Thanks alot for your reply Bobilero, its good to know that someone else only started suffering the sides after 3 years so im not alone. Only regret is that I rode through it for almost a year until it was too much so I hope it wont have caused permenant damage. Not fully back to normal but defo on the right track. Will take your advice about the minoxidil and maybe try saw palmetto. Strange that some HT docs will tell you that you need to take fin if you are getting a HT. I guess they are worried about the potential of loosing more of the natural hair rather than the new hair not growing out. Was thinking if it gets too thin in non HT areas I could buzz it down but then not sure if that is good for the 1st HT hair or how it will look. Hopefully the loss will stabilise in the next few months. How did you find the loss when you stopped taking it? Was it major?

Ive had the same issues with proscar over the last year as I gradually noticed the sides getting worse and worse. I had been taking it for over 3 years without any sides and then they gradually crept in. I stopped taking it 4 months ago and tried half and quater my original dose but the sides come back almost immediately. Its not a mental thing as a few weeks off it my morning glories returned. But the down fall is my hair has got so much thinner. I had a HT almost 3 years ago to zones 1 & 2 and the proscar was holding the rest of it together. Now Ive ceased it, my hair has started to look so uneven and i can see gaps appearing between the HT line and the original hair. Getting very hard to conceal. I have booked in for a second procedure in August but is the growth from a HT that successful without fin? Very worried at the moment. Is there any other medication I can use to help slow my hairloss. Currently using minozidil and a spray that contains saw palmetto. Also some herbal DHT blockers twice a day. Any ideas. Reluctant to go back on fin but if it dragged me through to August what would the result of going off it then be?
