  1. Hello Bazancourt. I am 23 and I am currently 8 days post op with Dr Hakan Doganay. Like you I didn't want to take pills or be spraying stuff in my hair forever, so the only way I could do that was to have an operation and be prepared for more in the future if my hair was to recede past the point it is at now. Fingers crossed it doesn't.

Either way, Sept/Oct isn't that far away so make sure you research LOTS before booking. I have been researching for the past 3 years and thought I knew 90% of what to expect, but I am learning this week that there are still things that I did not know.

  2. Hi mate. Were all or the majority of your hairs hook hairs? I had quite a few hook looking ones but a lot were just normal hairs, others with bulbs at the end. All sorts really. I didn't really analyse it at the time but now wondering if there should've been more hook/ transplant ones on my pillow! .... I'm prob also just having one of those doldrums moments where you worry about everything... ha

I only saw one hook shaped and that was from gently massaging the scabs off. I'm sure you were/are fine and you're supposed to see a mixture. Don't sweat it, you'll be fine :)

  3. Hello all, I am 5 days post op and I have a few questions with a picture below:

    1. Does everything look fine so far?

    2. Am I right in believing that where I can't see hair but there is a scab, there is hair underneath it?

    3. I found 2 hairs stuck together in white liquid, the bottoms weren't hook shaped nor was there blood, did I lose a graft?

Additional info: Procedure was done with Dr. Doganay in Antalya, Turkey. 2000 grafts in the front only.

  4. Hey! I would be glad to keep following your blog, already bookmarked it! :)

    Johan

Thanks mate! the internet has been down in the hotel I'm staying at but I'll be updating it later today.

    Throwaway-

You can (and should) create and keep a blog on here as David suggested, and just update both. The members of this forum are definitely pulling for you, and want to see your progress and updates. Your link wasn't removed to imply that you didn't have the community's best interest at heart or because you weren't helping people......this forum just has a strict guideline about linking externally to third party sites.

I have a blog on my hair restoration surgeon's website, but I also keep one here as well. I think you can reach a lot of people by being a contributing member on the Hair Restoration Network. You can help the members by allowing them to follow your results.....so it definitely doesn't hurt......and again, we'd love to track your progress along your journey.

At any rate, congratulations on your recent hair transplant, and welcome to the forums!! Looking forward to hearing updates from time to time from you, as Dr. Doganay produces some nice results!

    Best,

    Mike

I understand your desire to control your content. You have full control over your content here in terms of adding, deleting photos, blogs, etc.

We encourage anyone wanting to share their knowledge and experience to take advantage of the resources we provide.

Best of luck on your journey!

Thanks guys, I think I came across rude the other day when I didn't mean to be. I'll get a blog on here too once the internet improves in this hotel.

  5. Throwaway28925,

Congratulations on your recent hair transplant with Dr. Doganay! I look forward to following your hair restoration journey. However, our terms of service to not permit linking to third-party blogs.

If you'd like to share your results with our community, I encourage you to create a Hair Loss Blog, Hair Restoration Website, or simply upload your photos to this discussion thread.

I hope you'll continue to update us on your progress.

That's a shame. I'm sticking to that blog as I have more control over when and what can be deleted and things. Ah well. If anyone wants to see it, PM me. If not, I won't keep updating it as I was mainly doing it to help others.

  6. I can see it, looks very good.. Very exciting! If you have time, could you please continue to take a photo of recipient area once a week the nearest 6 weeks after surgery? That's the part I'm worrying about, having obvious redness for longer than 4 weeks when getting back to work..

    Thanks!

Sure I can do that for you :) I am also worried about redness.

Good luck! Hope you keep posting your results!

Thanks mate and I will be :)

Hello all! Yesterday I had my procedure done with Dr. Doganay in Antalya, I'll be keeping track of my progress through this blog.

No pictures have been uploaded yet due to me being on holiday still. Although I should be putting some up within the next few days.

Feel free to ask me any questions :)

  8. Ok great, finally some good news!

Also can someone maybe provide me with some insight on Propecia. I know it is a very debated topic, and there are people who swear by it and people who swear against it. My hair transplant doctor recommended that I start taking it but the fact that he has samples in his office to distribute makes me believe that he is getting paid to promote it.

I think I am prone to developing prostate cancer in the future because I already have a crazy amount of DHT causing my alopecia at such a young age and this DHT is also acting my prostate cells. Would something like Propeica therfore decrease my chances of developing prostate cancer or prostatic hyperplasia in the future? Or are they unrelated?

Because if that is the case, that means the benefits of propecia, 1) decrease chance of developing prostate cancer and 2) possibility of regrowing hair, far outweigh the reversible risks of potential impotence.

Can anyone confirm whether or not my thinking is correct?

While it is in early stages, many surgeons agree that Keratene Retard (the name makes it sound pretty shit..) is the next best thing. It's basically like Propecia but has no known side effects. I would link you but I believe it'd be taken down.

I am 23 (nearly 24) and I'm having my procedure next week, I really hope I don't end up regretting it.

  9. Hello! As some of you are aware I am scheduled to see Dr. Doganay in a few weeks time and I have a few questions as to what to buy before.

I am having the operation on my second day in Turkey and I am then there for a further 12 days, so I will need to buy a few bits before I go, I was thinking I would need these things:

Biotin Spray OR Vitamin E Spray.

    Neck Pillow.

    Cotton Pads and aloe vera.

Is there anything I have missed that would be essential?

As it's going to be boiling out there, I plan to stay out of the sun for most of the day, but I will be wearing a hat (snapback) to shelter my head.

    Cheers.
