  1. Hi I bought a bag from JustIngredients about 2 kg I think , it wasn't expensive and I take 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon twice a day. I am guessing the bag would last me in excess of a year, so time enough to evaluate it.
  2. I saw that you feel you have some new growth after taking nettle root, did it take 7 months for you too see some evidence ? Are you on any other meds ? If so, are you sure it is the nettle root that is working. I myself started nettle root after reading this thread. I have been taking it for about 2.5 months now so keeping my fingers crossed I may see something.
  3. Thanks guys, yeah that is what I have done, I am still using the Alpecin shampoo, but back to Rogaine twice a day.
  4. I have been using Alpecin Shampoo and lotion for a week now. I shower using Alpecin Shampoo and then towel dry hair and use Alpecin Lotion, which gives a tingly type feeling when massaged into the scalp. My question is : will it be OK to use Rogaine foam on top of this ?
  5. Anyone know the reason why pharmacies in UK will not supply Rogaine Foam to over 50's ? I tried to buy some the other night online at Lloyds pharmacy and was refused as I was over 50 !!
  6. Thanks Nick, just had a read, good info there, DS
  7. When would the the minimum reccomended period one could wear a baseball cap after surgery ? I am talking about FUT where one would have the large sutured cut across the back of the head. The majority of grafts would be filling in the top with a few in the hairline.
  8. Thanks all for you advice, it's an intresting subject
  9. Hi Matt, thanks for that link, that was exactly the thing I was looking for, and from that it may well be worth giving it a try. I will speak with HT surgeon next.
  10. I am 55 years old and Norwood 6/7 and had transplants done around 10 years ago that give me some coverage in the front and top. I read somewhere that if one has been losing his hair / been bald for 20 or 30 years that Propencia and Minoxidil Rogaine or whatever will have no effect at all and that once the hair follicle it dead / dormant then no amount of praying or drugs etc will bring it back and it has to be used when one first starts noticing hair receding. Is this correct, and is it a waste of time for the more mature gentlemen who has been shedding hair for some time to start using these drugs ?
  11. I have been browsing through these threads and am amazed that I have not come across any mention of MANE hair thickening spray. I have been using this for around 10 years now, and for me, if is way way in front of any other hait thickening product I have used, ( and I have used many). A few of the other sprays I have used have been OK, usually they are a bit wetter when applied, but there was one in particular that I bought on ebay which was quite frankly terrible. It looked and smelt like a coloured mix of bug spray and diesel - quite awfull  I have kept a hold of it to see if it will kill the weeds in my drive !!! Back on subject, I have tried several of the shake n cake fibres but each time I have used them it looks as if I have been in the attic and got my head covered in a pile of dust! I tried Caboki once and that looked liked someone had poured a pile of small hairy springs on my head. As I said at the start MANE is great but takes a little getting used to as you have to master spraying through the hair and try and minimise the amount that goes onto the scalp. Like a lot of these products, it is best used sparingly. In the begining I think I used to put too much on and I was using a slightly too dark shade. Now I have mastered putting it on and the shade is lighter I think it looks great. Oh and I just use a regular hairspray from the supermarket to seal it and it's fine.
  12. Thanks Hairz, yes Dr Bisanga does seem to get very consistant results.
  13. I had a HT around 12 years ago when my hair had thinned and the transplant was done in London with , I think, 3 sessions of 1500 grafts. At the time I was pretty happy with the result as it gave me considerable coverage where it had previously been sparce. Since then more hair has gone from the crown and back and what was left at the front has gone leaving only the transplanted hair. With some thickning spray and hair combed back it gives me a fair coverage in the frontal area. I have now had a couple of consultations and several email consultations and all have been fairly consistant in their summery. In all cases they reckon that 2500 grafs can he got from strip and around 60 to 800 FUE is possible. The FUE would be used the make a more natural hair line and basically fill in. The strip grafts would be used to fill in the crown but not really all the way down. I am happy with what I am being told. Being from the UK I was initially planning to have it done in UK but after spending some time on here and taking into account my travel areas I have got 3 surgeons I am considering, and all have very favourable posts made on here. The three I am considering are Dr Bisanga in Belgium, Dr Saifi, in Poland and Dr Path in Thailand. Would anyone have any preference in any of these gentlemen, and also bearing in mind cost is not a real issue here.
