Maybe I can try lowering the amount of coke zero I drink and eat more greens will see if that helps

Yes, doing both those things would be beneficial but I think you need to do more than that. You have to understand that having an "itchy and painful" scalp is NOT normal and avodart is NOT a panacea for inflammation. You will continue having problems while the inflammation persists.

Green Tea is a simple anti-inflammatory measure (drink at least one per day) and so is egg white applied directly to the scalp and left to dry for an hour (soothes the roots and prevents excess sebum build up). Gentle scalp massage can also help.

People also use supplements like Biotin, Taurine, Stinging Nettle leaves, Zinc, R+ALA, Krill, Lysine, Borage oil for inflammation as well as Shampoo's with salicylic acid

my scalp is back to being itchy and painful and hair is not feeling good when touched.

That's your problem right there. You have a scalp inflammation problem and you need to adress the root cause of that inflammation (whether internal or external) otherwise you will continue to lose ground.

Have a close look at your daily routine including diet, supplements and daily activities etc to see if there is anything you have started or stopped doing that you weren't doing before.

I had similar symptoms in the past where I thought Finasteride stopped working but I found out years later that it was the effects of being in a high stress work environment, eating less healthy and switching to a higher protein (high Tuna content) diet. Tuna is absolute poison to the hair roots due to the high mercury and heavy metals content.

  3. I can tell you now that it is counterproductive to press down hard when dermarolling. All you are doing is causing inflammation and if you keep doing it the inflammation will trigger hair loss. You will get much better results lightly gliding the roller across the scalp and attacking the thinning areas in multiple directions.

  4. In my experience, spending some time in the inverted position each day does improve blood circulation to the scalp and helps slow down hair loss. It's also very good for your mind and general well being. You don't need to hang upside down - the shoulder stand position is good enough.

I take medication (including minoxidil) and can tell you that my baseline daily hair loss is noticeably less if I'm spending 5 mins per day in the inverted position. I think it genuinely helps prolong the hair growth cycle.

He's an interesting case on someone in their early 40s was a NW2.5 to NW3 that ends up a NW6.

Alan Alda is another one. Its not something that is terribly uncommon.

Yep, the baldness gene never sleeps

You can also add Michael Caine and Stevie Wonder into the mix.

Now I am thinking for going for second hair transplant with the clinic to cover my crown area. But I am not sure whether I have enough donor area left for the same.

Yes, you can go for a 2nd hair transplant and fill in the crown as long as you continue to use beard hair.

If I was in your situation I would definitely go for it, no doubt about it.

  7. People who have had hairs taken from their beard ABOVE the jawline (chin, mustache, under the chin), have you had any issues with scarring/hypopigmentation?

The short answer is that no, it doesn't cause any scarring. However, if you have sensitive skin (which I have) and have a lot of hair extracted (>1000) the area can look red and blotchy for a few months. In-grown hairs can also be a problem and take time to clear. I had a lot of hair extracted and found that it took around 4 months for everything to clear and get a nice even skin tone again.

The unexpected up-sides (apart from the net gain of hair on the scalp) is that the skin appears more youthful due to the reduction in the eleven o'clock shadow and I no longer have to shave everyday. :)

  8. 2 Months update.

Redness at beard has got reduced but there is clear sign of over extraction of beard hair from the left side. Friends ask me if my left side of the face got burned or something. Still early to judge what will the outcome.

Yes, it's important that beard hair is evenly extracted to avoid any patchy effects

With regards to redness, I found that using tea tree oil was great for restoring a nice even skin tone. Using a face wash with salicyclic acid and exfoliating the skin with an alum block after shaving also helps.
