  1. Also, another somewhat related question about finasteride dosage: After reading the last post in this thread, I think I'll be taking a smaller dosage of finasteride than 1.25mg, at least initially. Can the 5mg proscar tablets be split into sizes smaller than quarters? This may determine whether I buy 5 or 1mg finasteride pills, even though it seems like 5mg pills are the much better value. Thanks again!
  2. Hi RCWest, I was just wondering if you could talk about your experience with liquid minoxidil vs. foam. I have been using generic liquid minoxidil (Kirkland Signature) for about 10 months, and I'm somewhat pleased with the results on the crown and vertex. Do you think I would benefit from switching to Rogaine foam at this point? I have read a few threads cautioning members against trying too many topicals, shampoos, and other miscellaneous products in a short period of time as one's system might get "shocked" and shedding could result. It's also important to note that I plan on beginning the use of finasteride (thanks for the note about that in this thread), so maybe I don't want to change two parameters at once. Thanks!
  3. Great tip with the flashlight, I'll give that a shot!
  4. Hey dwtp, I've been using generic minoxidil for about 10 months (granted it's the topical solution, not foam), and I've found it to be particularly effective on the crown, and fairly effective on the top. I didn't really see too much effect at the hairline, but that seems to be consistent with what I've read on this forum and elsewhere. This being the case, I generally just apply it to the crown and top of the head. You should certainly try for yourself to see where it's effective for you (and keep in mind it could take a few months to notice Rogaine's effects as well), but that's been my experience with it. Best of luck!
