  1. Well it's been 21 months since my visit to Dr Feller. I am still very happy with how my hair is. It's still very thick at the front. Maybe a very small loss of hair.

After taking finasteride for two years, I've decided now to stop.

I have been with my girlfriend for 15 months and it has seriously affected our sex life. I need to be happy and feel this is something I need to do.

  2. Well I'm coming up to 7 months and thought I'd do a quick update.

Not a great deal of change since my last update.

Very pleased with where I am currently.

Had a grade two at the back this week. Although you can see the scar a little at that length.

I still have less hair in the middle of the front where I have a scar. Although the density around it is so much better than before my HT.

  3. Congratulations! From the pictures, it looks like you have nearly the greatest hair possible at your age, even at this stage yet!

Remember how you introduced yourself only moths ago? "Please help a depressed man" "Well it's got to the point with my hair that I’m so low on confidence that I so want to restore my hair to get my life back."

How do you feel about that now, if I may ask? Has the result met your expectations so far?

Thanks. Yes, it's getting harder to remember how I worried everyday about my hair. Just need to find myself a new woman now :)

I had a bald bit in the front of my hairline since I was a kid as I smacked my head against a wall. The last few years that area has got thinner and thinner as the rest of my hair got thinner. Even that area looks better than it ever has since I had that accident.

My hair isn't really thick at the front, but I wasn't expecting it to be.

It looks very natural for someone who is 42.

    So far, yes, very happy.

  4. 5 MONTH UPDATE

I haven't posted anything on here for three months so I thought I'd better pull my finger out and update.

Hair seems to be coming on really well. Although I can't really see any new hairs coming through my hair looks and feels so much better.

I had my hair cut number two yesterday at the back. As you can see by the photos you can still quite clearly see the scar with my hair that short.

I feel confident again with my hair. I don't have to spend 20 minutes in front of the mirror any more trying to move my hair around so it looks alright.

Looking forward to the next 6 months.

  5. Well, I must admit I did find the period between week 4 and 7 particularly hard.

I was getting frustrated and a bit down where many weeks had gone by where I couldn't style my hair how I wanted.

The last 10 days I have felt so much better as I can style my hair pretty much how I used to before the HT. Although the hair at the front isn't the same length as the top of my hair yet. I think that will take another 5/6 weeks yet.

Really pleased that you can’t see the scar after having a grade three at the back.

Looking forward to the coming months now.

  6. Its good to see your progress man, I've had my worries over the last week but over it now.

How are you getting on? Its like looking in a mirror image of my work looking at yours. Same amount of grafts in the same place, its good having someone else to look at, I think it helps the situation a little knowing someone else is going through exactly the same thing as you.

Have you had any problems? Hows your donor area? Mines a little tender still, other than that I'm ok.

I'm ok mate. Get frustrated sometimes. Wish i could style my hair how i want. I suppose we have to realise it takes months.

Glad you feel less stressed about it now. Many more ups and downs to come i bet.

No other problems. Donor area a little tender like you, but no big deal.

  7. Well that's the first month out of the way.

The front part of my head is still numb and slight numbness and a little tender at the back of my head, but nothing that really bothers me.

It appears I have shed most of my new hairs now. If I look at the photos from today and two weeks ago, my hair now is a lot thinner at the front.

The bald bit where I had a scar in the centre of my forehead is clearly visibly again now.

It also looks slightly redder (more so in the pictures) than before, with the old spot now as well.

My hair length is starting to get on my nerves so I’m having my first trim tomorrow night. I would say my hair is at least 4 weeks longer than I normally have it.

  8. What you are worrying about is exactly what I thought and worried about. In fact I did up until about 3 months like a fool. Mate. Go to my blog site here and have a look at my 2 weeks pics Hair Restoration Journal for spreadlocks - 12 Days Post Op

then my one month pics Hair Restoration Journal for spreadlocks - 1 Month Post Op

In that time I noticed no shedding but look how much had actually shed. You'll be in the same situation. Just be happy you haven't had much shock loss :)

Thanks for that. Really helps when you are at the same stage as me and Arthur are currently.

  9. Wow! I totally get what your saying now I've looked at your pics. Its exactly what I was thinking and worrying about. I felt a bit stupid worrying at the 1 month mark and now its really put my mind at ease knowing that its just par for the course. I was shitting myself over it at the weekend and now its like a weight has been lifted.

I've read other peoples blogs and they said that it used to fall out in their hands and could see them in the bath after a shower. I saw none of that so started to panic a little. Panic over now tho! I'm due another haircut this week sometime, it doesn't look that bad at all so now I'm just gonna wait and let nature take its course.

Like you say, at least no shockloss. That can only be good news!

    Thanks for your info man!

Glad you are feeling better about it mate. I've just posted my 1 month pictures.

I haven't really noticed a great deal of shedding, but if i look at my pictures from today and two weeks ago i can see i have lost most of my new hairs.

  10. Got a bit of numbness but nothing too major, my donor area is a bit sore tho and a bit bumpy in places, again tho nothing major.

I'm struggling with what I see at the moment. I can't make out if the hair at the front is my native hair or transplanted hair. I haven't seen hardly any shedding take place unless its happened without me noticing. Think I'm probably fussing too much, promised myself I wouldn't be like this!

Keep going mate. We've nearly done a month now. It is hard to tell what's the new and what's the old hair at the front. I have shed a bit more now, but not a great deal.

  11. Good pics man. How you getting on? Are you shedding yet?

I'm trying my best to forget about it but its harder than it sounds!

Hello mate. I'm alright most of the time. Every now and then get a bit cheesed off that i can't style my hair how i always do. Lucky we can do the comb over the front hey?!. Had a bit of shedding at the front but not much yet.

    How about you?

Do you have any numbness in the front still?

  12. All coming along nicely. Had the staples taken out a few days ago. Apart from a few nips it wasn't too bad. Certainly makes sleeping alot easier.

The back of my head still feels a little tender but no real complaints. My hair at the front is coming along nicely. When i go out i hardly ever wear my beanie hat.

A little frustrating as i can't syle my hair the way i normamly do, but i know this will take another 2/3 months.

Looking forward to going back down the gym next week.

  13. Easier said than done for def. Haha. As for shockloss, I don't really know if I got it as I had not had my hair short in years before the HT. All I know is that at 2 weeks my HT looked ok then by one month after the shed it looked the worst that it did the whole time. By two months it was a touch better but not much. Then it got a little better each month. I'd say by 1 - 2 months it will look the worst it is gonna look. After that it is all slowly uphill.

Mate. Here is my honest adice though. Forget shockloss, forget 2 month mark, forget the 3 month mark. They are such small, irrelevant little things in the grand scheme of things. Style your hair each day, look how you look, get on with stuff and remember that in 8 or 9 months you are gonna look great. You will look back at all this and realise it wasn't worth worrying about. If you are ever feeling in doubt or having a crisis, feel free to message me. I can pretty much remember exactly how I felt month by month post op. I just imagine that after 2 bad HT's your anxiety will be even worse.

If I were to break it down.

Month 1 and 2. Just felt weird and new. Newb jitters and nerves.

Month 3. Thought I was getting some early growth.

Month 4 and 5. Realised I wasn't getting early growth. Plodded on.

Month 6 and month 7. Things were happening but I had some weak patches. Looked at some results online where I realised other people had better HT's than me at month 6 or 7. Thought I had all the growth I was gonna get and that the HT hadn't worked like I wanted. Started to have a crisis and think I'd had the wrong procedure, wrong doctor, never should have had it etc.

Month 8. Saw loads of improvement and thickening. Eased my mind a lot. Realised that with toppik my hair looked great.

Month 9 till now. Complete cosmetic change. Hair looks great. Main thing is that for 3 weeks solid I have felt like my hair has looked good every day after styling. No bad hair days.

Nice breakdown of events. Cheers for that.

I went to Dr Feller the same as Arthur. I think i was in the chair three days after.

Good to have someone on here who is at the same stage as me and pretty much the same area done.

  14. Hello Lamx121,

Most of us here emphasis with you mate. The answer is short and simple. Choose a recommended surgeon from those here on HTN and get a consult and evaluation right away. They will help you set the best course through options available for You. All the Best, Michael.

Cheers for the reply. I'm 10 days post op with Dr Feller. My life has got a whole better since a wrote this. Sorting my hair out and a few months of going to the gym sorted me out.
