Now that I have read about the side-effects of finasteride I am reluctant to use it. Is topical finasteride as harmful as the tabs?

Hey guys I am new here. I am a 19 year old guy.I noticed my hiar thinning a year back.I tried to ignore it like everyone else.Recently more and more are telling me that i m going bald. So i decided to do something about this.I consulted a dermatologist .She prescribed to me a solution named Morr-F .It is 5% minoxidil and 0.1% finasteride. I just wanted to ask will topical finasteride work? And now that i know about its side effects,should i discontinue it and use just minoxidil?
