I've always refrained from using regaine foam at the front and would be interested to know if other members of this forum share the same opinion.

Which members have have had a positive experience?

I am on finasteride and noticed that it works well on the crown, but the sides..ugh..I need help with regrowth. I use Spectral DNC all over the place wherever I see I need regrowth. it is very good. I hope fin does not hinder growth on the sides. im a woman and I need hair on the sides.

Sometimes stress can make ur hair fall, poor nutrition. Try prenatal vitamins coz it has biotin. Foods rich in protein like eggs, fish and soya products. Drink lots of water. You can try olive oil, use it before bedtime and wash it in the morning. enough sleep.

It's really a hormonal issue. A genetic predisposition to DHT or an autoimmune response. if we can normalize the immune system then I beleive that wil cure most female hair loss. It's something with genes and the immune response.

    Hi everyone,

I'm a 19 year old guy and unfortunately I'm experiencing some thinning hair. I visited a hair clinic and I was told that I'm experiencing DUPA (diffuse unpatterned alopecia) and so a hair transplant is out of the question. Since it's completely unknown what truly causes it (just my luck!), whether or not the medications will work is a toss-up.

Nevertheless, around Christmas last year I started taking finasteride, and a month later I started applying minoxidil (I use some of it on my hairline, not just on the crown). So, as of today, I've been on finasteride for about 8 months and on minoxidil for 7 months.

When I began the treatments I noticed some shedding; I was pleased because I was told that this indicated the drug(s) was working. The shedding wore off after a bit, and since then I'm pretty sure that my hair has gotten thicker. The crown seems fuller for sure, while my hairline seems somewhat fuller.

However, I'll still go through periods of shedding, or what seems to be rather increased hair loss. The past week, for example, I've noticed hair on my pillow when I wake up -- this is unusual. When I'm in the shower, I'll notice about 20ish strands of hair on my hands after shampooing and then after conditioning.

The strange part is that the hair on my crown seems to be mostly stable; it's mostly the hair in the front that goes through this "shedding." Has anyone experienced this? Is periodic shedding normal, even several months into finasteride/minoxidil treatment? Why would the hair in front be more susceptible, even if it seems to have gotten somewhat fuller? Also, is there anyone here who has DUPA and can tell me of their experiences?

I am experienceing the same thing. i've been on finasteride and the crown towards the back is filling in, but I have shedding on the sides. I hope i can see regrowth in those areas. This condition is so difficult. It seems we have to try many things to see what works. We need a miracle to restore our hair and I am praying for one.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I disagree. i can concur with manco. I've been on Finasteride for only two weeks andI have experience regrowth that I, my dematologist, and my husband noticed on the top back portion of the crown. I am hoping it works of the fromtal crown, the trouble spot for most women. But I will take all the hair I can get. I am determined to get my hair back!

I agree with Maxxy. Fin is fin - as long as you're getting them from a reliable source.

I am a female on finasteride. It appears to be working however I get dry scalp and oily alternating. It seems like it grows and then stops..back and forth. Is this an adjustment? I have been on it two weeks. My husband said he sees new hair growing in the crown where it never was before. I hope I don't have to stop because of the scaling etc..

I am a woman on finasteride. it appears to be working after only two weeks, howeveri get dry scalp or oily alternating. Any comments? Do you take finasteride finpecia or propecia?

Where do you get your supply? Are they different?

  7. I started finasteride two weeks ago. It is possible that the dryness i have been experiencing is from that. It is really helping. I hope this can be resolved because it is not a good environment for hair groth when your scalp is dry. It seems to go from oily to dry. And I am getting exzema also. I fi don;'t take this I may go bald. This is tough situation
