  1. I recommend you check out the International Society of hair restoration surgery. They are the governing body for hair surgeons globally, the surgeons attend a global conference once a year and you can check out each surgeons attendance record and they can advise you as a non profit organisation who to contact. They have surgeons globally and I would just ask that you check out their website as it is incredibly well presented. And yes I do have personal experience of using them succesfully as a patient.

  2. International society of hair restoration surgery. International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery for Hair Loss and Baldness This is the official world governing organisation of collective hair surgeons. They meet once a year to discuss the cutting edge developments of hair restoration and you can check each surgeons attendance year by year. Any surgeon on their list is a dedicated hair surgeon and they are the authority you should be choosing your surgeon from as they a non profit organisation dedicated to guiding and advising you through the whole process. Check them out and I hope that helps.

  3. Nick, I had a failed FUT and then 9 months later a succesful FUE. I would say that my growth rate second time round was very slow up until six months. I am now 10 months and the transplants look a lot healthier. I took a lot of dietary precautions second time around to boost the nutrients to my new hair. I can only say that it was when I started taking marine collagen supplements with saw palmetto daily that my hair really started to look shiny and healthy. Gingko biloba with vitamin E and dmae from twinlabs also with plenty of good protein foods and a non sulphate, keratin shampoo. Hope that gives you some ideas on healing and nurturing your transplanted hairs.

  4. Shane, I have had both FUT and FUE. I personally found FUE much more civilized and non invasive a procedure (apart from the head shaving before surgery). I had a 2000 FUE procedure over two days, 6 months ago so I would say the two day procedure is correct procedure for such a large amount of grafts. It is less traumatic for the patient and it is a very detailed procedure for 4000 follicles that requires intense concentration by any FUE surgeon. For your reference I had 2000 FUT strip, unsuccesful (Prestige Clinic, Wroclaw, Poland) and 2000 FUE (resulting in 4929 hairs transplanted) by Dr Flavio Barsali at transplantecapilar clinic in Lisbon Portugal. My second procedure is still a work in progress but I can say that I am comfortable with the progressive growth so far. I have never taken Finisteride or Rogaine. I take saw palmetto, egg white protein powder for the amino acid complex, a multivitamin, vitamin D and DMAE supplement on various days of the week and I also leave shea butter (pure organic and Argan oil in my scalp overnight for the moisturizing and hair strengthening properties. So If you wish to go natural then you have the right to choose to do so. All the medications have side effects (apart from hair growth or maintenance of existing hairs). Finisteride I have read some very frightening accounts of from users in particular. Hope that helps you make an informed decision.

  5. I absolutely agree with what you say ejl7. My first FUT yielded no obvious result so 10 months later I have just had FUE, this time with a well researched International hair restoration society surgeon (s). I too am in my late 40s. My GP also said that he sees many hair transplant patients who have more success with second or third procedures than first. Educating ones self to the intricacies of hair transplants can take time and first timers often don`t know where to start when looking for surgeons which makes them easier to pick of by the opportunist not so good surgeons.

Chris. Click on the blue header above. This page is the International Hair restoration surgeons home page. All of these surgeons are hair transplant specialists. I would recommend you use them. 900 or so Hair surgeons across the world. Just send the ones you choose (and choose a few if you can to send to) a standard e mail with photo attachments of front, back, top and sides of your head and what you hope to achieve with surgery and they will give you feedback and prices if you ask.

  7. I think once you have done all your research and you have decided that the only option is HT surgery then you really have to just throw yourself into it with your heart and soul and make sure that you have all the facts about aftercare, nutrition and that is it. I am sitting here writing after my first day of 1000 FUE grafts that yielded 2582 hairs in the front of my head. Tomorrow I have another 1000 hairs transplanted from the sides to go to the back of the crown area. I will be posting pics in about a weeks time so I wish you well on your surgery Spanker. Oh by the way. I can recommend Mastic Gum 500mcgs for a sensitive stomach. I think it is easy to get in USA and a natural product. Really calms the stomach.

Keep us all posted and we will offer our support on your journey,

    Shyshiny

  8. Grafts are anchored after about ten days maximum in all patients so the wisdom goes so no way do you have any grafts coming out 7 weeks post op. I can hear your worries though so maybe it would help ease your thoughts if you had a scalp skin checkup or post these pics to your hair surgeon for an opinion. You are seven weeks post op and the healing process is still ongoing so just have a good skin nourishment diet and positive thoughts help. It is good to see you here where we can all support you as you post.

  9. If you value your surgery and hair, give your scalp time to heal. Remember, doing weights will release testosterone and cortisol which is a stress hormone that helps release amino acids that rebuild your muscles but may also rob your body of skin healing nutrition. I would say concentrate on a good nutritional supplement for skin healing and get your Doc. to check the scar before you go into the gym and hit the big weights again. After all, you value your hair and a couple of months nutritional rest doesn`t diminish your muscle sets to much.

  10. Saw Palmetto has allegedly been found effective in blocking male testosterone which speeds up the balding process. You have to be so careful though about popping pills left right and centre because often the side effects or interactions with other bodily functions or medicines you are using can be dangerous. And of course the amount of misinformation on the internet is enormous.

  11. I had FUT strip surgery and had facial swelling for about 2 weeks quite badly afterwards. I definitely would not have gone to work looking like that. It varies from individual to individual. I also think the calmer and less stressed you are before the operation and during transplants the better the chance you have of healing quicker. I can`t actually say anyone noticed because I already had some hair that I could comb over the transplant area (which sadly did not yield an outstanding result or cover my balding patches).

  12. Interesting Question Daksh84. It would be preferable for your HT clinic to advise you as they are the only one who have seen and presumably assessed your hair before surgery. I prefer not to take any hair solutions or medications. That is my personal preference. But if I was advised by an HT Doc that my existing hair was minituarized and going to fall then I think I would have two choices. Medication to retain the hair not transplanted so that I had a good even growth of hair as my transplanted hair grew back or no medication which would see my original hair fading away and a second HT operation to correct this at some point in the future. You are absolutely doing the right thing by researching the medicine though. Better to be educated to the choices you have to make. And, who was your surgeon, what was your procedure and do you have any pics you want to share with us all. Well done on choosing to have your HT.

  13. Great description and set of photos. Thanks for posting. Yes, now we all want to follow you through the next year to see your updates. It sounds like your procedure went very well. Just look after yourself and follow the post op instructions to the letter of your surgeon and of course be patient. Waiting is the hardest part after surgery. But of course you have the support of this excellent forum and all its members to lean on.

  14. As long as the poster purely states the given results of the hair transplant without malice or resentment then there can be no legal recourse to sue for slander or fictitious comments against a company or individual or physician. Our experiences are to be shared in a free and competitive hair transplant market and I applaud this sites protection of its posters.

  15. Thank you Buzz2. I`m staying calm and learning from my mistake and trying to pick a good surgeon for an FUE op soon. Yes I have been trying to communicate with them, and yes I am trying to salvage some kind of refund to go towards hopefully an FUE HT of about 1500 grafts possibly. As yet though the clinic has failed to offer me any further advice or a refund so I have started to post and warn others to be careful when considering Prestige Clinic and Piotr Rataj. My thoughts are mainly towards picking a good FUE surgeon for an FUE op soon. Dr Mwamba in Belgium right now looks good. A consultation and then hopefully a transplant in July of this year. I`ll keep you all posted with pics should I manage to get the green light for a second attempt at hair growing glory.

  16. I am presently 9 months post op from 3000 FUT with Piotr Rataj of Prestige Clinic, Wroclaw, Poland. I have no visible growth and have deemed the hair transplant to be unsuccesful to date. I had no underlying pre-existing physical conditions (two years of extensive blood tests, MRI scans and medical consultations) and I am taking no medicines or hair loss medicines. The surgeon is in fact a accomplished plastic surgeon but has no extensive portfolio of hair op patients to his name as far as I could find out. I only had a small window of opportunity to have the FUT and this guy got back to me quickest. Add to that the vulnerability of most hair loss patients and a good price thrown in and I ended up on Piotr Ratajs operating table. Customer care immediately after my op was non existant and no hair care info pack or nurses checked on me for the four hours after my op. before I was picked up and taken back to my apartment. I must therefore advise anyone who contacts this clinic (who are advertising FUT) to be very thorough in there questioning and research of this surgeon. I share this experience without malice or resentement towards Piotr Rataj and my experience is based purely upon my FUT results whilst at Prestige Clinic, Wroclaw, Poland. Two pics. First is September 2011, second one is June 2012.
