My question for everyone is whether they have heard of any cases of facial hair loss as a result of using minoxidil (rogaine) on their scalp. I have read that a side effect is increased facial hair (particularly among women) but what about the other way around? Here is my history and why I suspect this can happen: I've been struggling with facial hair loss for over a year now. I get patchy hair loss mostly on and around my chin area and the neck. I have been seeing a dermatologist for this issue and have been receiving steroid injections in the affected areas to stimulate regrowth, which has been somewhat successful. However, even when successful, the problem recurs and sometimes even in the exact same spots. The only thing that has changed about my lifestyle in the last 2 years has been the use of Minoxidil on my scalp to prevent hair on my head from falling out (which definitely slowed down since I started using Minoxidil but has still been gradual). Since minoxidil is the only new thing about my lifestyle, I have begun to suspect that it may be the culprit causing my facial hair loss. I know this drug has been around for a while, which is why I'd like to know if any one else has heard of this happening even though I haven't seen it listed as an official side effect of the drug (although who knows, it may be in the future when it's discovered, if it is a side effect). As of now, I stopped using minoxidil for this reason. It's still too early to tell whether my facial hair loss issue will be resolved as a result of my stopping the use of minoxidil.
