  1. Dear all, I had a hair transplantation of 2000 grafts 8 months ago and have been on propecia for 4.5 months. My problem is, after I started propecia I experienced a lot of shedding and the shedding has not stopped yet. At the moment when I comb my hair I see a lot of but really a lot of thin hairs falling out with white bulbs. The shedding I have, results in a situation that I cannot judge the success of my HT. My questions are: 1- Do those thin white bulbed falling hairs show progress of MPB or should I expect that it is because of propecia and new fairs will replace soon. 2-Is there a way to distinguish between telogen efflivium and androgenic alopecia by looking at the hairs falling out. Additionally, does the white bulb indicate something? 3-If it is because of peopecia, I'd like to ask if someone on this site has ever experienced 5 months or longer shedding because of propecia and how did it turn out 4-If it is because of male pattern baldness why only thin hairs are mostly shedding not the others 5-If new hairs start to grow do they grow as thick hairs or thin hairs which get thicker in time Thank you for your time

  3. Dear all, I am a 31 years old guy. I am on 0.5mg/day propecia for almost 2 months. I have experienced a lot of shedding which means it is going to work! However, I have developed puffy areola. First of all, I would like to ask if anybody has experienced this side effect. My second question is; does this mean it will develop larger and cause male breast enlargement? Should I expect side effects go away after using propecia a few months more?
  4. Hello "mrcool", I have had 2000 grafts 4 months and 1 week ago. He is a very kind person. His credentials from "American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery" and patient cases that he showed me made me to decide on him. However, I have had diffuse pattern hair loss and 4 months is kind of early to comment on his job. If it was not diffuse I could recognize the brand-new hairs, but now I have to wait for 2 more months to compare the before/after densities.
  5. Hello mmhce, I don't have the opportunity to take a picture at the time being. I can tell the thinning but it is not that visible. I'll post a few pictures later. There is MPB in mother side of my family but it starts with diffuse pattern and progresses in time at most I can say to NW 6. I am a male who had an HT of 1000+2000 and waiting for the results of the 2000 operation. My doc told me that I was between NW5-NW6.
  6. Dear doctors and forum members, I would like to thank you for your precious comments in advance. It was 7-8 years ago when I style my hair with my fingers, I realized that my hair is thinning at lower left corner of my nape. Now after years, I saw that my hair has thinned both at lower left and right corners of my nape, interestingly, middle is OK. I am 31 and I wear my hair short. I have hair at both sides but a closely looking eye can detect a 2cm x 1cm (height x width) rectangular like thinned area on the lower left and a 2.5cm x 2.5cm area on the lower right. I have diffuse pattern hair loss and had 3000 grafts HT. I would like to get comment about my case whether it is a sign of a disease or does it mean that while I am having diffuse pattern hair loss at top, my hair recede upwards at the back in the future and I will deplete donor hair? Will they ever get worse in terms of both covering a larger area or turning into totally bald? I am planning to have a blood test but do you think iron deficiency causes this type of hair loss?

  8. Thank you very much for the reply. Actually my investigation is about whether to suspect I might end up in NW-7 or not. 2 of my uncles are bald but it is like NW-6 definitely not NW-7. http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...PatientID=610&DrID=5 this before photo of your patient looks like the current height of my rim hair. I have more hair on top (because I suffer from diffuse pattern). I cannot see the vertex of the picture so I cannot compare mine with that. As a matter of fact my doctor told me that I am between NW-5 and NW-6 but from the pictures and NW scale labels I can see that this field is open to conflicts. My questions are, 1) How can I measure my NW class? 2) What are the signs of going towards NW-7? 3) Are NW-7 people usually people who have diffuse pattern hair loss or loosing from front towards backward? 4) Is there a correlation between progressing towards NW-7 and age? 5) I thought having a higher rim in the front and a little bit lower in the backwards is a sign of NW-7 but the patient in the photo above looks like having exactly this type? 6) Do you agree with the comment that 3 inches and below is NW-7? Thanks in advance
  9. Dear all. I just turned into 31. I have always had very dense hair until my 25-26, then I started to loose hair on top and crown while preserving hairline (diffuse pattern hair loss). I had two transplantations of 1000 and 2000 grafts. At the time waiting for the results of the second operation. My question is about estimating my future norwood scale. First of all how can I measure if I am a class 6 or 7? Secondly my rim hair from front to back seems to go down more. Is this common or sign of bad news? I heard that rim hair of 3 inches or less is norwood 7. Is this true? because 3 inches looks like very high.

  11. Thank you very much, I would like to get your opinions about the 1st and 6th pictures, (5500 and 3300 grafts plus propecia after 1 year -a friend of mine showed and mentioned the details about the pictures-) on this gallery http://www.mcgrathmedical.com/0.html. Do you think that they are realistic? They are the best pictures I have seen so far. Should I expect such results? Thanks
  12. Hello, I have a few questions regarding the pictures published by clinics on this site and others; 1) They give the graft count but the picture shows only first half of the head. What should I imagine about the vertex? With that many grafts does the vertex or second half of the head covered or not? (even most reputable clinics do this) 2) There are some patients gained very good results with low graft counts compared to high graft counts. For example http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...tientID=539&DrID=138 with 6000 grafts and http://www.hairtransplantnetwo...ientID=1332&DrID=628 with just 2700 grafts. There are more pictures like this. It is difficult to explain by hair characteristics or doctor quality. Why is that so? Is it possible to grow only a small portion of the transplanted hair? Thank you.
