  1. Wow you've seriously knocked off 15-20 years. Seems like the hair transplant might have motivated you into the weight loss also? Congrats!
  2. The only person I told was my girlfriend. I kept it hidden from family and friends(housemates) and work and therefore had to spin a massive web of different lies to different people but I think I will just mange to get away with it I was lucky to have some existing hair throughout the recipient area so it wasn't so obvious. family - I was going away for a work trip & managed to delay seeing them just long enough for it not to be so noticeable. work & friends - I was going for a holiday to visit my sister, cracked my head open while sightseeing (only part of the scar was visible as I had longish hair), and doctors had to shave part of my head because of swelling (recipient area). - I only managed 3 weeks off work! Once the grafts started to fall out the existing hair I had on the recipient area that was shaved at surgery had grown back just long enough for me to be able to start using Caboki to make it look similar density. lying caused me so much stress that I think it would of been easier just to tell people. I think if you plan what you are going to say & run them through it step by step, you might find you are pleasantly surprised by peoples reactions. I thought my girlfriend would laugh at me but she was proud that I was doing it and revealed that she wants to get a nose job because she's self conscious too.
  3. No indication at all. I look at my scalp closely in the mirror every day and just started to see little brown hairs poking through. They look darker and stronger than the existing frontal hair. Most of the few hairs that have started to come through have been on the very edge of the hairline. I would of thought the majority of the hairs would all come though around the same time within 2-3 weeks of eachother, that's why I am worried, but I guess this is not the case.

  5. Thanks for the replies everyone. I've looked into my scalp condition a bit more(on the internet) and it seems my symptoms look more like it could be something called craddle cap. I've never heard of craddle cap before now but the yellow flacky scabs look very similar to mine.. I'm going to see a dermatologist asap, I don't know why I never went to see one before. Thomasc - that must be so frustrating not even seeing one hair, but I'm sure your time will come soon especially with the psoriasis under control. I too have read in some instances it taking up to 5-6 months. At what stage post surgery did you find your psoriasis flaring up? & how frequently are you washing with Nizoral? gb83 - that sounds encouraging. I've booked a trip to Europe 7 1/2 months from my operation (4 months from now) and was really hoping to have some serious growth by then. Here's hoping. Thanks Michael and gb83 for the dermatologist suggestion, definitely going to go see one. Tom
  6. Hi everyone, In early February I had my FUT surgery with a respected surgeon receiving approx 2900 hairs to the front of my receding hairline. I've seen some great results on this forum by this doctor and felt that my transplant went very well. I'm just starting to worry because i am at the end of week 11 since the surgery and can see only at very best 100 transplanted hairs that are coming up. The majority of my transplanted hair fell out in week 6 since my surgery which means 5 weeks have passed since the hair has fallen out. Do transplanted hairs grow at different rates or if I'm seeing some hairs that have grown to 1-1.5cm already should I have expected to see signs of all the hairs coming through? Additionally I have been getting very dry scalp patches and some yellowish scabby buildup in patches of the transplanted area. I'm really worried that this is stopping the hair from regrowing. I have had this condition in the past but have usually been able to keep it at bay with regular use of Nizoral shampoo but at the momment it is not going away. I know this forum gets a lot of posts from worried patients post surgery who are impatient with their hair growth but I'm worried it is my scalp condition that may stop the hairs from ever growing. I've seen patients with a lit more regrowth by this stage. Any suggestions/feedback would be appreciated. Tom
  7. I recently started researching recommended physicians on the network to carry out a hair transplant operation. I decided on Dr. Radha and have booked in with her for January but being from Australia I was surprised and disappointed not to see any Australian physicians recommended.. Is Australia behind the 8 ball or has the network not looked into any Australian physicians? Surely there must be at least one physician in the whole country that meets the criteria. Or not? I doubt I would end up selecting an Australian clinic anyway give the extreme prices over here of $6 - $14 per graft. Tom
  8. Thanks so much for the replies.. feel a lot more confident to start on the medications! Going to order it all today. In regards to the hair transplant after seeing a lot of success stories on this site I'm feeling like this could definitely be a good option for me. Ideally I would be looking to fill in the forelock and receding temples and hopefully bring my hairline/forelock forward 1-2cm if that makes sense. Do you think that it would be possible to bring the front of my forelock forward down my forehead 1-2cm at all? Also I've read that patients should be on the medication for 2 years before getting a transplant done.. do you think this is essential? And lastly.. my only concern of getting the transplant done to early would be for my hairline to continue to recede forming a gap between the transplanted hair and my normal hair on the temples.. does this make sense? Thanks for any feedback
  9. Hi Im 25 & have had a receding hairline for the past few years but more recently have noticed my hair thinning in the front middle section of my hair. My dad at the age of 65 is quite bald so I am only sure mine will gradually get worse. Judging by the photos would you say I am a norwood 2? 2A? or something else After researching I am looking to start 1mg generic finasteride, 2% minoxidil and 2% nizoral shampoo. Although because I have only started thinning I am not sure whether to start taking finasteride yet. Is there any adverse affects for my hair of getting on finasteride too early in the balding process? Will the shedding phase cause strong hairs to fall out or only the thinning hairs that I have at the front middle? Thanks for your help
