  1. I've just looked back at a previous photo which made me realise I needed to do something! I had forgotten how bad it had gotten! The first one was February 2015.

The second one is from today which shows frontal third/half  needing work!IMG-20150201-WA0001.jpg.55b18e7e4b0a5d93ec270a28f82da62a.jpg

The one above is again from today, but with hair brushed forward ! Definitely a great advert for Finisteride!

I'm 46 years of age now.

  2. I joined this site around 10 years ago where I gained some invaluable information. I've been out of the loop for the past 8 years

I started on Finisteride 1mg 8 years ago. It regrew loads of hair at the crown and back and held what was left of the the front.

I've noticed that my hairline is creeping further and further back now. If I've got this right, I'm probably IVA on the scale now. I'm now at the stage where I'm contemplating shaving it down, which I'm really not keen on, or getting a transplant.

    I've got a few questions:

1, I know everyone is different, but do you think it will keep on creep back, or should the Finisteride hold the back half and crown?

2, Could someone give me an estimate (again, I know everyone is different) of what it would cost to get the transplant. I'm UK based, and I'd prefer to have it done here if possible, but would consider a reputable clinic in Europe if it was worth the travel.

3, I think I'd prefer FUE over strip. Are there any other methods to consider?

    4, Any do's and don'ts gratefully received

    Thanks all in advance 👍

  3. I've been on Finisteride for 3 years.  Hair loss has drastically reduced, and everything still works downstairs!! If any newbies have any questions regarding fin, don't hesitate to contact me.

I started fin too late, so I need to plan getting the front third of my hair line filled in.  What sort of price will I be looking at? I'd consider close to home, like Manchester, or even abroad for a reputable surgeon.

    Suggestions please people.

  5. Hi Newbie,

IMO you could probably have a hair transplant now depending on how much hair you have lost and if that loss is affecting you.

The propecia will help sustain what you have left but will not bring back what has gone.

A few pics posted of your front will help you get the right advice.

Thanks. I'll try taking some in the morning.

  6. So I've been on Propecia for just over 9 months. I wish I'd have started it years ago, as I appear to have had no sides, but as I waited too long, I've lost a lot of the front. So much so, that I'm going to have to probably get it shaved down this weekend :mad:

My questions are, how long should I leave it before considering a hair transplant?

9 months in, am I likely to have stopped loosing hair?

  7. So, I went to my doctor here in the UK to ask for propecia. He said he'd give it to me but asked me if I was aware of the side effects! I've done a lot of reading on here so I was well aware of the potential side effects but the way he made out I would definitely loose sex drive and get man boobs?!

  8. All drugs have side effects for a certain percentage of the people taking the drug....propecia is no different. You ever seen those TV commercials for drugs that at the end list all the possible side efffects?...It's like "this drug may cause stroke, heart attack, nausea, kidney failure, blah blah blah" and millions of people take those drugs for the benefits because they tolerate the drug well. The millions that have zero to almost no side effects we rarely hear from; the people that do have some side effects we hear loudly from....making it appear much worse than it really is. Many times the initial side effects greatly decrease after several weeks or by adjusting the dosage. As with all drugs those with serious side effects from propecia sadly will not be able to benefit from the wonderful anti-balding effects of propecia and will most likely bald more and quicker than those on the medication. That's why most of the respected hair transplant surgeons recommend propecia to their patients if they are one of the millions that tolerate it well. Are all these respected hair transplant surgeons "retarded" or reckless? I suppose we can agree on one thing......2EachHisOwn.

Well said! I nearly didn't take the tablets the doctor gave me when I ended up with shingles because of the POSSIBLE side effects, and guess what, I had none of them!
