  1. Honestly, no one can know whether it's real or fake unless you bring it to the laboratory for testing of the ingredients....

Like ^^ said, 2% is prescription grade.. You could just go to your family doctor and get a prescription... 4 oz here in U.S. is ~$30 for 2%.

Better buy the real deal than to have side effects later on. I also saw that same one from Amazon but decided against buying it ...

  2. I use foam during the day time as it helps to style my hair. At night, I use the liquid as it's more cost effective and also seems easier to penetrate directly into the scalp as it seems like it's less absorbed by hair strands.

Kirkland liquid is pretty cheap. For foam, I use Rogaine, both 5 %. :D

  3. It's partially correct, fin hysteria has hit me a little. However, I am also increasingly uncomfortable with the idea of taking a pill for the rest of my life. I come from a family that has always valued all natural lifestyle, largely because I moved to the US and my family didn't experience the ritalin, anti-depressant, etc. etc. hysteria of the past few decades. The result has made me deeply suspicious of it. I know the hard reality: bear with it or ditch it and face the consequences.

I honestly don't know if fin has been all that effective for me. I've been pretty irregular with its use (I dropped it for about a year or so and then started again on the MWF at 1.25 dosage). I may try to do the .5 MWF dosage and see where that takes me.

I'm just wondering if there have been people here who have made the switch successfully.

No switch but my brother uses ONLY min; he's never tried anything else, anything.

And even when he use min, he does it very casually and doesn't spend too much time. I haven't seen his before picture but he still has a head full of hair. He's been doing this for about 3 years so i guess if he's not complaining, just minoxidil is working for him.....

  4. WOW! GRATZ! I should've kept a before and after of my results... I'm also taking Rogaine for about 4 months now AM & PM as well as Propecia for the past year... Been noticing hair shed about 2 months ago. Maybe it's the Rogaine...

Keep going at it and update us on your 1 year result later :)

  5. Wow! I just noticed you're doing 0.5mg once PER WEEK!

How long have you been doing that, and was there any adverse effects?

I started Rogaine foam around the same time I started taking Propecia 1 mg once every 2 days about 4 months ago and have noticed hair shed up till now. Hopefully it's the Rogaine foam working...

But if Propecia stops hair loss, then by taking Rogaine + Propecia, shouldn't hair shed stop?.. hmmmm...

  6. Spanker,

Boba, that's a pretty good price for the name brand stuff but still outrageously expensive in my opinion. Given my personal income, I couldn't justify the expense as compared to $9 for 30 tablets of 5mg finasteride yielding a 4 month supply. My hope is that generic 1mg will eventually come down to a cost that makes it an attractive option for those who cannot afford the high cost of Propecia.

On the same boat as you, but unfortunately, my family doctor will not prescribe me 5mg generics as the pharmacist she called told her that the drug will oxidize (or something of that nature) if it is cut in quarters.....

Hopefully by when the Reddy agreement ends in half a year, we can expect other companies to start mass producing these and induce market competition.

  7. Hi guys,

I saw a thread on this forum a while ago with graph indicating that you don't have to take Finasteride everyday. Taking it every other day, or every 2 days, or skipping even longer seems to have the same effect as taking it everyday. Does anyone have the link to that thread? And is anyone NOT taking Finasteride everyday and still see good results?

  8. For those using minoxidil, how long was your initial hair shed period? Please specify brand you used and whether it's foam or liquid.

For me, I've been using Rogaine for at least 3 months now and am still shedding hair. I'm also taking Propecia every other 2 days. Started taking Biotin 1 per day about a month ago as well.

For my hair shed, it occurs when I'm massaging minoxidil onto my scalp. I can see strands of hair falling onto the ground.

Seems like this hair shed is going to last forever. I don't see new hair regrowth. Disappointed, discouraged :(

Btw: I did try searching for this topic; however, it seems like the search engine is broken. After I click search, it brings me to a list of all the forum members...

  9. Are you guys not using the Kirkland minox foam?? It is far cheaper and just as effective as the regaine from what i have seen.

i was at Costco a few weeks ago and i believe the price of Kirkland minoxidil foam vs. Rogaine foam were the same price if not Rogaine was tad bit cheaper. I can't recall, but i bought the Rogaine instead. I think it's because Kirkland just came out with the foam version and that's why it's priced a bit high right now. Maybe after a few months it will drop below Rogaine's price.

  10. Not 100% sure but I think your hair/scalp needs to be dry - check the instructions

I remember reading somewhere that somebody applied minoxidil immediately after getting out of the shower. He said it was better. Not sure if absorption was better, or it was just better since you can see the scalp more clearly, i forgot.

  11. I wouldn't say that it's going to make it less effective seeing as how hair drying just increase the rate of evaporation. Just use the cool setting from your blow dryer and i think you should be fine...

PS: Kirkland came out with foam version minoxidil as well recently.

  12. Where do you live? If you live in the US, try to get your doc to prescribe you the 5 mg generic Finasteride from a pharmacy. These "online rx" look suspicious, and they are often made by the same company but different rx names. That website looks fake as well...

If i were you, i'd refund my order, or at least throw it in the trash can if you can. Honestly, you are taking this ORALLY. It's not worth risking your health for it.

I wanted to try generics as well from online rx but went against it after weighing out the pros vs cons. Pros: cheaper. Cons: Possible adverse health effects and/or the drug being fake and not working, causing me to lose even more hair.

  13. What are the techniques you guys use to apply Minoxidil foam onto medium length hair without wasting the foam by having it stick to your hair strands? For my forehead, i just put some Rogaine on my fingers, and then rub it in directly to the scalp. For the top of my head, i find that harder to do without touching my hair strands.

Also, how much of the foam to apply for the entire head (forehead, top, vertex)? It says 1 month supply, but i feel i may use it all up in 2 weeks time of less.... The bottle is so small!

Last, out of topic question, but for those who have applied Rogaine foam on places other than the vertex, did it help with hair regrowth?

    Cheers!
