Probably not. Just don't cake it on and wash it out at night.
What it means to cake it? (sorry for my english)

Yesterday i used toppik for the first time and i am very happy with the results.
But now that i look on the ingredients is see things like ammonium chloride, silica...
So can it damage the hair in the long term?
-
No, I meant the 85 pages that come up when you type "Shampoo" into the search bar!
Thanks for your suggestions. I'm reading that Nizoral should not be used more than 2 a week, which I've heard is about what you should wash your hair anyway (an experienced hair-dresser told me this). I'm looking into the Revivogen too.
Any other suggestions from folks here? The more info the better.
I used nizoral twice a week in the first month but now i use it once a week. In the rest of the week i use revivogen. So i wash my hair something like 5 times a week.

I'm so confused about all the different recommendations for hair loss shampoos too.
So far i can see only one recommendation so you have nothing to be confuse about.
I tell you what i do, you can try it and see if it works for you 2.
I use Nizoral once or twice a week, And 3 times a week i use Revivogen shampoo. Nizoral is the only shampo that has proves for its anti dht effect.
And for the Revivogen, my hair looked thicker right after the first time i used it.
I also use the serum but my hair looks thicker even in the places i don't use the serum.
By the way, since i use revivogen i notice more gray hair, but i dont know if there is any connection.

I have been using revivogen for 3 months and since the last month i notice more and more gray hair (i noticed 8 gray hair till last month and now i notice 20). Could it be there is a connection between revivogen and the gray hair?

I take 22 m"g of zinc every day because things which not relate to hair issues.
I know that zinc is good for the hair but too much zinc is not good for the hair and i wanted to know if the zinc supplement in addition to revivogen is not to much zinc?

Sorry, the shampoos I was recommending are not anti-DHT; as I mentioned before, such shampoos do not stay on the scalp LONG enough for them to have any significant affect on the levels of scalp DHT. I wouldn't waste your money. If you want to use something topical, such as topical Spironolactone or Revivogen Scalp Therapy (not shampoo), it needs to remain on the scalp for at least several hours for it to be of any significant benefit.
Besides Ketoconazole (shampoo), which I understand has a positive effect through its anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and, perhaps, anti-DHT properties, I do not know of any other proven shampoos that will have the similar benefits.
The big three are Finasteride (Propecia), Minoxidil and Ketoconazole.
So what so special about those shampoos? And talking about Spironolactone, does it has any side effects?
-
The shampoo will be of little benefit in stopping your hairloss. If you like the way it leaves your hair, then continue using it, but there are other much cheaper consumer shampoos that give a similar effect.
Can you give me the name of the cheaper shampoos? Right now im using generic nizoral with 2% Ketoconazole. Im using it twice a week but in the directions it says to stop using it after one month. Im not going to stop but im going to use it only once a week, so i need an anti dht shampoo without sls for the rest of the days.

Just because something is labelled as "all natural" this doesn't mean it will not cause side effects - False marketing on the part of Revivogen. Black Mamba snake venom is natural, would you rub that on your scalp? The difference is that natural treatments are not regulated by the FDA.
I know the mode of action of topical Finasteride is the same as oral Finasteride, such that if absorbed at sufficient levels through the scalp and/or if someone is particularly sensitive to this drug, it could, in theory, have similar side effects. I don't know whether this is the case with Saw Palmetto, but again, and although often marketed as "natural and side-effect free", when taken orally it can certainly have similar side effects in men.
Any shampoo is likely to be on the scalp for such a short period of time that the amount of absorption of so-called "active ingredients" is likely negligible. I wouldn't worry about systematic side-effects in this case. If you want to use a proven shampoo that might have some beneficial effect in actually slowing down hairloss, then use a 1 or 2% Ketoconazole shampoo (i.e., Nizoral) several times a week. I have written about my experiences with Ketoconazole and Revivogen Scalp Therapy (so far) here:
Thnx for your comment.
So by what i undertsand you recommend on revivogen right? You use only the shampo or also the Revivogen Scalp Therapy?
-
1) I know that one of the ingredients of revivogen is saw palmmeto which could have sexual side effects if taken orally. My question is if saw palmmeto has the same side effects if used in topical way?
2) I know that products like minoxidil has bad influence on collagen which could make the skin in the face get wrinkles (thats why i stopped using it), is revivogen has the same side effect?
-
Good advice.
Minoxidil and saw palmetto extract. I have a friend who uses both and not propecia and he's had great growth
Does the saw plametto extract has the same side effects as the saw plametto tablets?
-
You can try zinc

Click on the link 'view my hairloss website' in David's signature for his story. It's just underneath his comment. As for price, any reputable clinic would mention this on their website.
Thnx for the comment but couldn't find the price.

I don't think it's a solution for the long term becasue minoxidil is not "fighting" the dht it just has the reverse effect than the dht. In the long term the dht would win the minoxidil so maybe its a good thing to combine some unti dht
solution like azelaic acid.

Sigildark,
I don't think using extra to compensate for the once per day application is going to help. There's only so much your body can absorb at any given time. However, I do also use slightly more than 1/2 a capful as I apply it over my entire head. My whole front third is transplants anyway but I figure there may be a few pre-existing miniaturized hairs in there that could benefit from it.
If your only using it once per day, why not apply a little extra. There's no harm and you're still stretching your bottle beyond one month.
Can i ask in which clinic have you did the transplant? are you satisfied with the results? and what is the cost?
-
It doesn't matter. It will still diffuse through your skin.
But you wrote it only applies for a very short hair (or i didnt understand you right because of my poor english).
-
You can smear it around your scalp, but this only applies if your hair is very short.
But what if i have long hair (which i have)?
-
It's enough.
I forgot to mention that i am extending my hair so it's pretty long. So after i put the minoxidil on my scalp i need to massage my scalp so the minoxidil would spread all over the scalp area im taking care of. And because the length of my hair some of the minoxidil is getting stuck in the hair and not spreading on the scalp. So you still think that 1 m"l is enough?
-
On the directions of minoxidil it says to put no more than 1m"l. But i put minoxidil on all the upper part of the head and on the the upper back part of the head, or in other words, all the areas that could be bold. And i dont know if 1 m"l of minoxidil is enough for such a big area. What do you think?
-
Thnx.
And by the way, why do you use the oral minoxidy?
-
I bought minoxidy today and i read on the directions that it's forbbiden to use it on a tan scalp. So the question is how should i use it in the summer?
Can toppik damage the hair?
in Shampoos, sprays, and concealers
