9,961 grafts equaling 21,293 individual hairs over the course of four years. This was not done in one procedure. The patient was forty years of age when the very first strip procedure was performed. The last procedure was performed by age forty-four. Only strip harvest procedures were performed. The first image was taken before any procedure. The three images that follow show the improvement in density over subsequent procedures. Followed by close up images showing a natural looking result on each side of the front. And a view of the crown. These images are before treatment and after the very last procedure. Hair loss prevention used as well to discourage further hair loss. The image of the donor scar showed as a "corrupt" file in our imaging system. This patient is regularly in our office for Dermatological care, I will take another image and update it on the forum as soon as possible.

This patient is mid forties with history of using hair loss prevention, but wanted a subtle restoration of temporal peaks. Strip harvest was performed with a 9mm width strip and stapled Trichophytic two layer closure. 2,921 individual hair follicles were transplanted using follicular unit grafts that totaled 1,428. Included were single, double and triple hair grafts. Small number of grafts transplanted into the peak of the crown as well.

This female patient had a strip harvest and PRP was used as the graft media for all prepared grafts. Strip was 9mm in width using two blades on a multi-blade knife handle. Majority of the grafts were multiple unit grafts (MUGs) due to area of hair loss. No single hairs were transplanted. Two and up to six hairs per unit grafts were transplanted, yielding 6,002 hairs. The recipient sites were made with custom blades ranging from 1.1 for two hair units and 2.1 for the largest MUG. Trichophytic closure with staples. Hair loss prevention is encouraged with each patient prior to any surgery.

Female pattern baldness typically affects the frontal and mid scalp. The hair can look limp and lifeless, without any real form or body due to the effects of miniaturization from DHT. This requires a different surgical approach for hair restoration. Single hairs are not as critical, since there is not a hairline restoration needed. Naturally growing single hairs are left intact, and combined with an adjacent naturally occurring follicular unit to form a combined graft or multiple unit graft. This type of distribution helps provide more volume though increased individual hair counts, but may yield fewer total grafts. This patient had a strip harvest resulting in 2,150 total follicular and multiple unit grafts. For a count of 3,319 individual hair follicles. The images show before and one year after surgery, and an immediate photo taken at the conclusion of the procedure which displays graft distribution. Hair loss prevention is recommended to each patient seen for hair loss concerns. Note the increase in the amount of body in the concerned areas after the transplant. A second session could improve overall density, but a good improvement with one session nonetheless.

Light hair color frontal restoration with one session. 2,348 follicular unit grafts containing 4,817 follicles were transplanted using strip harvest. Preventative measures recommended to discourage further hair loss as well. One session increased the hair density in this thirty-something man, which improved his frontal facial framing, giving him a more youthful appearance.

2,215 follicles transplanted to frontal region in one surgery. No multiple unit grafts. 1,075 individual follicular unit grafts, 254 singles, 502 two hair grafts and 319 three hair grafts were transplanted.

Front hair line hair loss improved with one session 1,800 grafts, hair loss prevention always suggested. Increased volume and natural undetectable result.

Losing hair early in life; at high school or college age, can be a devastating thing for a young man or woman. However, having a surgery to help restore the hair to the original density is easier with a smaller procedure if the surgery is done at the early onset of hair loss. Here is a patient that needed 1,612 follicular unit grafts, totaling 3,399 individual hairs. The hair has been restored with a relatively small session. Also, confidence and a positive self image could be restored as well. The images show before the surgery, immediately afterwards, and just over one year after the surgery.

Some patients don't want a noticeable change in their appearance. This patient wanted a conservative receeding look. 2,547 follicular unit grafts were transplanted, strip harvest. Low hair density, and dark hair.

Stay ahead of your hair loss by doing smaller surgeries as your hair loss progresses. Hair loss prevention is always suggested to our patients. However, in spite of preventative measures, surgery is the best option for improving hair density naturally and more permanent. 1,533 follicles were transplanted into the frontal region within existing hairline to increase hair volume and density in the frontal forelock region. Visible gaps in frontal hairline restored with very natural, undetectable result one year following surgery.

Frontal Hair loss on middle aged patient with black and white hair transplanted using strip harvest technique. 2,532 follicles into frontal region. Front and side view show increased density with one procedure. Scar line closed with Trichophytic closure. Prevention recommended.

Mid aged female patient with temporal androgenetic hair loss. No previous cosmetic surgery reported. Small session by strip harvest with Trichopyhtic closure yielding 1,477 follicular grafts and 2,835 follicles were transplanted. After one year shows increased hair volume, allowing for more versatile styling of her hair. Patient reports that "Bangs" are now possible as a result of the surgery. Whereas prior to surgery, patient did not have enough hair volume for that particular hair style.

5,226 follicles transplanted into frontal region. 2,465 follicular unit grafts consisting of 1-4 hairs. Strip harvest with Trichophytic closure shoes well camouflaged scar. Increased volume and density in frontal hairline looks natural despite black hair. Hairloss prevention recommended and an additional surgery for the crown for may be preferred for optimal fullness.

4,178 follicles equals a good first step if you have extensive hair loss and are not using hair loss prevention measures. That sounds like a lot of hair, but it may not be enough to give you optimal coverage. This patient has a great improvement. However, despite a large number of hairs, he needs another session into the crown, and hair density in the mid scalp can be increased as well, with another surgery. Good patient counseling prior to surgery, leads to realistic expectations. 2,086 follicular unit grafts by strip harvest and Trichophytic closure.

The crown was transplanted with 1,488 follicular units, 2,870 individual follicles. A larger session with more grafts was recommended. However, due to budget issues, a smaller session was done, and a great result was achieved. In the crown more grafts are preferred due to the natural shape of hair growth in that area. A strip was taken, with Trichophytic closure with staples.

One of the goals of cosmetic surgery is to get an improvement in your appearance, without anyone knowing specifically what you had done! 1,715 individual hair follicles were used to improve the temple area on this patient. The after photos were taken one year after surgery. More grafts can be added if preferred, but the change in the hairline and temples with a single small surgery is significant.

Young man with significant early adolescent hair loss. Prevention recommended to maintain as much hair as possible. 4,090 follicles transplanted in one session. Discussed additional sessions will be needed for optimal fullness, and due to potential for progressive hair loss. Images show before surgery, markings, immediately after, and finally 1 year after result, including donor scar with Trichophytic closure.

Mid aged patient with frontal hair loss, including temporal point. Temporal point hair loss can make people look older even with minimal frontal hair loss. Strip harvest with Trichophytic closure utilizing staples for best possible healing in donor area. 407 Single hairs into 0.6mm opening, 1,816 total follicular unit grafts were transplanted. Frontal hairline and temporal restored, looks natural and conservative. Hair loss prevention recommended. Images show surgical markings prior to surgery, 1 day following surgery, and one year after surgery. Patient very happy with final result.

Frontal hairloss due to FPB and Cosmetic surgery. Multiple unit grafts and standard follicular unit grafts both used totalling 3,242 follicles. Strip harvest Trichophytic closure with staples. No single hairs, all grafts were 2-4 hairs per graft for immediate increased density with minimal grafts. Very little hair for "Bangs" prior to surgery, now patient has more hair for "Bangs" for more versatile hair styles.

3,660 follicles transplanted using custom .9mm, 1.2mm size blades. Improved hair density creates more body throughout the scalp. Prevention meds recommended. Strip harvest 24cm X 8.5mm, layered closure with staples. 173 single hairs, 715 two hair units, 605 three hair units, 42 four hair units and 18 five hair units.

"Salt and Pepper" colored hair looks very natural and undetectable due to the lower contrast between the hair and skin color of caucasian patients. Multiple haired grafts(MUG's) are utilized, which yields more hairs per graft(more follicles), but possibly lower the overall graft total. Four and Five Hair grafts would not be uncommon with white hair patients. Images of Pre surgery, surgical markings day of surgery, immediately following graft placement, and one year after surgery.

Interesting patient with mid scalp hair loss, frontal hairline still relatively intact. Hairloss prevention is recommended for every patient prior to surgery. 2,334 Follicular Unit Grafts were transplanted via strip harvest (32cm X 9mm) with Trichophytic closure. 1-4 hair FUG's, 5,117 individual follicles transplanted into custom blade openings .7mm for singles, 1.1 for doubles, 1.3 for triples and quads. After photos taken 1 year 1 month from surgery date. Notice the increased volume with more hair in the clips in the angled photos, single hairs used along front hairline and in temporal points. Greatly improved density in mid scalp region with one procedure.

Young patient with frontal hairloss concerns. Preventative treatment with Proscar/Propecia and Minoxidil. Additionally, Avodart 3xweek. Average donor density with medium coarse wiry texture. 32 cm X 9mm Strip harvest. Two layer Trichophytic closure with Monocryl and Staples. 2,081 1-4 hair follicular units, 3,890 individual follicles.

Grafts session performed on patient that was an admitted smoker with no intention of cessation. Patients that smoke are more at risk for poor or substandard surgical results than patients that do not smoke. Mega session Tranplantation into crown was not considered due to history of smoking. A conservative 1st step of 1,616 Follicular Unit Grafts was perfomed without using PRP. 9mm Strip harvest, Trichopyhtic staple closure. Recommendations made preoperatively to discontinue smoking were ignored. It is unclear whether patient smoked during healing time following surgery. Despite those factors, the graft session perfomed took well. 2,3 and 4 hair follicular unit grafts were transplanted with a very reasonable result. A second session of similar size was recommended for increased density.

Hair Transplants are an option for other areas of the body beyond the scalp. We have tranplanted areas many different including the mustache, beard, eyebrow, and even the pubic area. Here is a patient with an unsightly scar on the chest, from a required surgical procedure. Going shirtless at the beach or in the gym was uncomfortable and possible embarassing. This is one procedure, 253 total FUG's, over 500 indivdual hairs. Hair obtained from the scalp by strip harvest. Post operative results will be posted after 4-6 mos.
