What happens to unimplanted hair?

I am considering hair restoration to restore my thinning hairline,but i was wondering what happens to my natural hair? Assuming that it will eventually fall out, won't the implanted hair look strange sitting there by itself? will I be obligated to repeatedly have the hair restoration performed? -
