  1. Chavtastic, I had almost similar hair on the temples as you do, but my hairline at the front was definitely more receded than yours.

I consulted with several doctors, both in person and through virtual consulting. I was told that I am NW2.

Do your research thoroughly before you take the plunge on HT. I did my HT surgery 3 weeks ago, and I am 34. I researched for several months, before taking the plunge.

    Hope this helps!

  2. Moldilocks, my doctor's office told me that I can use a hair dryer, with low heat settings, from two days after my surgery. However, I avoided having the hair dryer directly on my recipient area till 2 weeks after the surgery.

I was told I can put most products in my hair from day 9. For Rogaine, I was told that I could use it after 14 days.

  3. I had very slight swelling (almost unnoticeable) in my upper forehead the morning after my surgery. Also on my third day, I again had hardly noticeable slight swelling on my forehead. On both occasions, the swelling did not last for more than a few hours.

Fyi, my doctor gave me a medicine to reduce swelling, that I was supposed to take for the first 4 days. I also occasionally applied ice packs on my forehead for the first 2-3 days. Hope this helps.

  4. My doctor has the same policy that Dr Carmen stated. My doctor told me upfront that any extra grafts that they get from the donor site would be transplanted free of charge, and if they fall short of the target number, they'll refund me for the shortfall.

So I was desperately hoping that my doctor would have something like 500 extra grafts or so icon_smile.gif Anyway, he is a smart dude, and got only about 20 more than the target icon_smile.gif

  5. Bill, TC, Smoothy, and Dr. Arocha, thanks for your responses.

Yes, it is every HT patient's dream to retain all the transplanted grafts and not go through any initial shedding.

From what I am hearing from you guys, it seems that Rogaine can help in this regard. My doctor's office recommended that I can start using Rogaine after my scabs come off - that is, about 2 weeks after the surgery. My scabs are all gone, but I'll wait for a couple of more days to complete the 2-week post-surgery period before I start using Rogaine.

Will keep you guys posted as to whether it makes any difference regarding not having to go through shedding.

  6. Fallenstar, wow!!!! Amazing results! I had my HT done about 2 weeks ago (from a Coalition surgeon in the US), and I can only hope that I get results as good as yours!

Also, considering the fact that I have the exact same skin complexion and hair color as you have, I am trying to be optimistic. icon_smile.gif

Great job, and you look great! Good luck with your second HT in November.

  7. Hi everyone,

After being a silent lurker on this forum for a long time, I decided to start posting. I have been doing research on HT for several months, and then finally took the plunge and did my HT procedure (to restore my hairline) with a coalition surgeon. I had my surgery 11 days ago.

I have a question for you guys. I understand that the transplanted hair starts to fall off a few days after the surgery, and then the hair reappear in a few months. In your experience, how long exactly after the surgery did you see the transplanted hair fall off? Did anyone retain most of your transplanted hair throughout?

Thanks in advance for any responses.
