  1. NoBuzz,

The highlighting procedure involves pulling small strands of hair through a plastic cap with holes. Bleach is then applied and when the hair has lightened to the desired shade, the bleach is washed off and a toner is applied and left on for several minutes before washing. An alternative is to bleach the hair completely and then use hair color to achieve the desired result.

The bonus in all of this is that the bleaching swells the hair shaft, which provides extra bulk.

Hope this helps, if you need specific product names, I can obtain these.

    Thanks for the feedback.

  2. Hi Don,

I had a lot of donor area shock loss. I am now at month 4.5 post op and this has come back nicely.

I am a little concerned about the "cracking" you describe in the recipient area. Make sure that you have moisture in this area - this should encourage the scabs to fall off and promote healing.

To Bill's point, this is a bit of a long road but should be worth it. Hang in!

  3. Hi Miles,

Not to worry. I had two small HT's with Bosley (400 in 1995 and 488 in 2000) and had fairly extensive shock loss from my HT (for more density) on January 30, 2007. I can confirm NN wise words - it does come back!

The next while might be tough. When you have existing hair and are going for density, the "step back" for the first while can be a real jolt. Hang in, this will turn around.

If you want, take a look at my pics in the Album section. I will be posting my 4 month pics in the next couple of days, and things are on the upswing.

    Keep the faith

  4. Crazy Baldhead,

    Welcome to the forums.

I'll save you the trouble of looking for the bandanna post - it was mine. Bear in mind that there are no hard and fast rules regarding the inspection of headwear, but the snugger fit allows for a lesser hiding space, thereby reducing the need for inspection. The most important thing is to check with your doctor if he is OK with this type of headwear so soon post op.

With regards to flying the day after, I would not foresee this being a problem. H & W will see you the morning after to ensure that all is in order and you should be fine for travelling barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Best of luck. Many posters have great results with H & W and I believe that you have made a very good choice.
