Hair loss is one of the most common medical problems and it will affect most men at some point in their life. A complex hereditary condition androgenic alopecia – baldness can begin for some even in puberty. Women can also suffer from androgenic alopecia. There are only two FDA medical solutions that can positively affect hair loss; finasteride (Propecia) and Minoxidil. Still, hair transplants are the most natural, proven and permanent solution for baldness. The FDA medications have proven to be a good adjunct treatment; but hair transplants are the most successful permanent solution for hair loss.


The purpose of this article is to clarify hair transplant (HT) so that the general public becomes better informed on the amazing technology and advancements that leads to the tremendous success that HT patient’s experience. Their loss of self image and esteem is greatly restored and fuels the personal confidence that leads to a happier and more successful quality of life.


Hair Transplants (HT)


Foremost one should understand that HT is a medical procedure that should only be performed by a medical doctor who specializes in hair restoration. It is an elective surgery that does not require hospitalization and usually only a few days downtime for most patients.


In the vast majority of people the hair follicles at the sides and back of the head are resistant to DHT. DHT is a hormone produced in the body that adversely affects some hair follicles. This effect is the miniaturization of hair in the temples, hairline and crown to various degrees. The end result is very thin hair in those areas or complete baldness. Medical science development of HT consists of harvesting high quality donor hair from the back of the head. This hair is naturally resistant to DHT and because it is the patient’s own hair it is the best natural and permanent way to alleviate baldness to varying degrees.
