Using Minoxidil 5% on transplanted area temporarily for TE

Recommended Posts

I have healthy thick hair overall with no visible thinning and had a successful HT on the hairline recession a few years ago

I currently am going through Telogen Effluvium according to my Dr and most of the transplanted hair has fallen, I'm not on Minoxidil and do not want to depend on it but my Dr has advised me to use it to only speed up regrowth, I am taken aback about using it and I most certainly are not going to stay on it long term

My question is

If I use it only for a few months just to kick start regrowth of the transplanted hairs (normal thick hairs, there is no thinning or miniaturization)and then discontinue, will it affect my already healthy thick or surrounding hair?

Can I use it only a couple of times a week just to enhance circulation?

Thank You

The effectiveness of minoxidil for TE is very hit or miss. It's usually a self-limiting process. It won't impact your already healthy thick/surrounding hair.

My advice does not constitute a patient-physician relationship nor as medical advice and all medical questions/concerns should be addressed to your medical provider.
