Regular Member jlennon01 Posted July 29, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted July 29, 2015 Hi Folks, I have signed up with Dr Hakan Doganay in Turkey, for approx 4000 fue, in September. Took me a while to decide on my Surgeon and after seeing alot of great results and at a reasonable price i made my mind up. I have started using regaine foam (about two months now),propecia for about one month (no sides) and biotin supplements for about two months. I will be getting my surgery done on the 2nd and 3rd of september and will post monthy picture up to 18 months. I am hoping for advice pn recovery and opinions in general Here is my hair today (attached)
Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted July 30, 2015 Senior Member Share Posted July 30, 2015 Congratulations! You've made an excellent choice! As far as recovery goes, follow Dr. Doganay's post-operative care instructions and everything should go smoothly. FUE is not too tough to recover from. Is there anything specific you're concerned about? David - Former Forum Co-Moderator and Editorial Assistant I am not a medical professional. Regular Member jlennon01 Posted August 19, 2015 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 19, 2015 Hi, I have question about something that has been concerning me... Basically the majority of my hair is thinning apart from the front which is gone. I have started minox and propecia (two months now). I am concerned that if I get fue transplants beside areas of thick thinning hair that it may cause the thinning follicles to die and i will not get the benefits of propecia and minox. Is this cause for concern? Thanks, John
Regular Member jlennon01 Posted September 2, 2015 Author Regular Member Share Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) Hi Folks, Day one of my op went well I think. I got 2500 grafts done today. I was told I would need 4000-4500 but Dr Hakan didn't want to take any more than 2500 from my donor as he said it wasn't strong enough. He suggested we take 1000 from the beard for the crown area. I have agreed and doing this tomorrow. It means I will need to come back at a later point and have the donor area on my head looked at to see if I can get the rest. Positive experience so far. Ahd staff are really nice and the hospital staff are really friendly. Few fit nurses as well . Below are pics of my hair yesterday and the op today. Regular Member jlennon01 Posted September 3, 2015 Author Regular Member Share Posted September 3, 2015 (edited) Here's the donor, they say they won't be able to tell if I can get anymore until another 8 months at least. But told me to keep using minoxidil, Biotin and propecia (started two months ago) they say it may fill it in for me and I may only need a few hundred grafts! What are your opinions on the result now? Regular Member jlennon01 Posted September 3, 2015 Author Regular Member Share Posted September 3, 2015 (edited) Got 1341 beard grafts done to fill in the middle area. The clinic says they cant do any more until the see the donor area in 8-12 months. So my crown is not finished, bit disappointed in that but what can you do... Here's the pic from above... Regular Member thewalker10 Posted September 18, 2015 Regular Member Share Posted September 18, 2015 how much was the cost if I may ask? Also, this is a silly question...but how does "beard graft" work? As in...when they extract beard graft...does your beard region get covered like a mummy? Regular Member jlennon01 Posted September 23, 2015 Author Regular Member Share Posted September 23, 2015 Hi, I haven't been on in a while to update this, so here is goes. Finished my Op in Turkey the cost was 8350 euros, I got 150 off for letting the clinic use my pics with the face covered and the rounded it down to 8000 euro! So good result there. Overall a positive experience. The only negative things i can say were that; A: When you get picked up from the airport they had a sign saying "AHD hair restoration clinic" i don't know if i'm being picky but i found this a bit embarrassing as the place was busy. B: Dr Hakan and his staff were all great, but i think out of the two days of surgery Dr Hakan maybe did around 2 hours of work. I know there were another two patients in but would have been nice to have more of the surgery done by him (although the staff seemed well trained and Dr hakan came in every now and again to check on them). I think he mainly does the most important part i.e. the hairline. Overall i was happy with the exp. Oh yes they let me stay two extra days in the hospital free of charge as i had a change in personal circumstances. ..... To answer your question on the beard Grafts. They put a wrap around it with bandage for a day from what i recall. ..... My two week update pics are attached. It looks quite well in them and the hair was all growing. Since then my "shock loss" has started and the hair has started to fall out. My hair looks a total mess as my original hair wasn't cut on top. So it is all different lengths and rare! But what can you do! Ill put month pics up showing this (before and after shave). Thanks, John
