Regular Member dds Posted August 29, 2014 Regular Member Share Posted August 29, 2014 I have scheduled a hair transplant surgery with Dr Bhatti in Sep. I am hoping to have around 3000 grafts transplanted. I am debating if I should have the doctor include PRP during hair transplantation. I understand that PRP is yet to be proven to regrow hair. But I am wondering if PRP would reduce scaring and help the wounds heal faster. Any thoughts?
Regular Member dds Posted August 30, 2014 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 30, 2014 I've not read anything that really sounds ideal. Some doctors talk about it being good but there is no solid proof. But I have read numerous case studies where PRP is used outside of hair transplant for pain management and to heal faster. Some case studies appears to have helped in cosmetic surgery (for skin). If this is true, I hope PRP would help heal the receipent area faster (from wounds due to incisions)
Regular Member Dog Posted August 31, 2014 Regular Member Share Posted August 31, 2014 Good choice of surgeon. I'm 2 months post-op with Dr Bhatti and am very happy so far. I'm still a bit red, but you get over that once you start walking round without your hat and realise no one cares.
