Hoody
Hello, I am a 22 year old male with a receding hairline and experiencing thinning hair around my scalp. My hairline is currently suffering the most. For 3 months I used 15% minoxidil and saw some improvement in my hairline. Due to the high cost and scalp irritation I had to stop using it. I also use nizoral and take saw palmetto. After I stopped using the minox my hairline has gotten progressively worse. What non-surgical treatments have helped you guys the most with frontal hair loss?
Senior Member TakingThePlunge Posted October 27, 2011 Senior Member Share Posted October 27, 2011 Hoody, Welcome! I'm sorry to hear that you've had to face the reality of hair loss at such an early age. Unfortunately, neither Rogaine (minoxidil) nor Propecia (finasteride) are particularly effective for restoring frontal hair loss. As these two drugs are the only clinically proven and FDA approved medical hair loss treatments, it's highly unlikely that you will find a more effective alternative. At present, the best course of action for a young balding man such as yourself is to begin a regimen that includes Propecia, Rogaine and perhaps Nizoral as well. If you respond well to this treatment you can expect hold on to your existing hair much longer and possibly see some new hair growth as well. Once you have stabilized your hair loss, you may want to consider hair transplant surgery to restore the front. Best of luck!
