Regular Member glajo Posted August 21, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted August 21, 2008 Just how long does shock lossed hair take to come back? In my situation, the hair and areas that were shocked were in recipient area in back of head to correct prior donor scar and donor area on side of head also had good amount of shock loss also. These areas lost hair and apparently went into shock on the same day of surgery. Im going on 10 months and there has been minimal hair growing back in these areas and I basically look worse than I did before surgery. At 10 months Im about to throw in the towel. Work was done by coalition doctor who is aware and said things will heal with time. Is it possible that it may take up to a year or more for shocked areas to come back? Any advice or support would be appreciated.

Regular Member tofueornottofue Posted August 21, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted August 21, 2008 I would think by 10 months it would have grown back. Did the transplanted hair grown in? I have heard of growth maturing after 12 months, however, I haven't read anything about shock loss taking that long to come back. I guess if the coalition doc said it still could return...it's possible. Who was the doc? Good luck T
Regular Member glajo Posted August 21, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted August 21, 2008 The transplanted hairs are growing in I think but it was just minimal one hair grafts I believe that were placed in recepient area which also experienced shock loss. The problem is so much hair was shocked and still missing in this area that even when grafts will fully grow here, it will not make a difference and I look worse than before I had surgery done. This shocked area is in back side of head where grafts were placed to fill in donor area scar and surounding hair whch is supposed to be permanent on back of head was shocked and still gone. This is weird. I will reveal the name of doctor after a full 12 months to be fair to him. It just shows that even in the best hands, things like this can happen.
