Sandyb
I visited a doctor recently and he suggested me both Propecia and Rogaine 5% , and while i was reading the information sheet which comes with Rogaine it says this should be used only at the vertex part. I have enough hair at vertex area so i would request members your opinion on using both ?

Guest
Sandy, Using Rogaine anywhere but in the vertex just causes Bad hair days. Because you can't avoid getting it in on your hair & it just weighs your hair down. And the fact that it does not grow hair in the front or temples it is probably not worth it. Do some research on propecia & possible side effects before taking it. You want to be an informed consumer!
Senior Member Gorpy Posted June 11, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted June 11, 2007 Hi Folica, I have to disagree with that. Rogaine does work on other areas (the front). The reason Pfizer makes claims that it is for crown use is because that is where they have done the tests. Having said that, it probably works best on the crown. That doesn't mean it doesn't work at all anywhere else. Why am I making these claims? I have had personal experience and success using it in the front. Your statement about it getting in your hair is true, however if you have any hair on your crown, the same would apply. ____________ 2700 Total Grafts w/ Keene 9/28/05 663 one's = 663 1116 two's = 2232 721 three's = 2163 200 four's = 800 Hair Count = 5858 1000 Total Grafts w/Keene 2/08/07 Mostly combined FU's for 2600+ hairs My Photo Album See me at Dr. Keene's Gallery
Guest
Gorpy, I stand corrected on temple regrowth. I only tried Rogaine a few months so I really never saw any impovement. I did experience a rapid heartbeat & that is why I quit using it. Are you still using it? Any sides? More improvement?
Senior Member Gorpy Posted June 12, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted June 12, 2007 Let me clarify a little more. I don't think it works very well right on the edge of the hairline and that includes the temples. However, behind the hairline and on the front half of the head, I think it works. That's great for getting a less "see through" look behind the hairline. I quit using it about 10 years ago, and like they say, I lost the hair it was maintaining. Too bad. I had no sides. I just got tired of using it. ____________ 2700 Total Grafts w/ Keene 9/28/05 663 one's = 663 1116 two's = 2232 721 three's = 2163 200 four's = 800 Hair Count = 5858 1000 Total Grafts w/Keene 2/08/07 Mostly combined FU's for 2600+ hairs My Photo Album See me at Dr. Keene's Gallery
Guest
Thanks for clarifying that. Yes minoxidil is a hard regimen to keep up forever, even though it works!
Regular Member Gossamer Posted August 4, 2007 Regular Member Share Posted August 4, 2007 Is the Rogaine Foam any better or does that also cause a lot of messy "bad hair days"?
