Transplanted hairline?

I was curious if there was some sort of general rule of thumb when creating a new hairline, with regards to the previous natural hairline. I'm sure most if not all transplant are not exactly where the real one was, but how far above the original, is the new hairline generally placed at?

Brave, this is a very difficult question to answer. The reason it it difficult is that well, it depends. It depends on many factors including your future estimated hair loss, your donar supply, your hair and head characteristics, your age, etc. A qualified and ethical doctor will place your hairline where they believe it will serve you best in the "long term". There is no hard and fast rule as to where to place it. In my case, I am 50 with no crown loss, so I could go a little lower with my hairline. If you are 30 and showing signs of a NW5, then you would want to be more conservative with the hairline. Consult with several reputable doctors and you will get a better understanding. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. I'm actually 21 and have already had two procedures totalling around 4500 grafts. The hairline was placed about 1 inch approx above where it normally was ( I had a very low hairline when I actually had frontal hair). I was just sort of curious how they determined where it went. Thanks. icon_smile.gif
