Regular Member Lavaman Posted February 2, 2004 Regular Member Share Posted February 2, 2004 I was just curious to know what the most vulnerable "time frame" is for someones donar scar to stretch? Is it more vulnerable to stretch between 1 and 2 months or is it just as vulnerable to stretch at 6 months? Is there a "safe" time when the chances of it stretching are next to nil?(say 6+ months?) Thanks. male pattern baldness sucks! male pattern baldness sucks!

Guest
Lavaman: Scar stretching should be relatively complete by 12 months post-operative and perhaps even earlier in most cases. It is uncommon to experience significant stretch after one procedure. If you were to use the safe donor area this one incision would yield around 3,000 follicuular unit grafts. If you need 3,000 or fewer follicular unit grafts, the risk of significant donor scar stretch is small. B.L. Limmer, md/jac Dr. Limmer
