Nick84
Hi. A couple of weeks ago I decided to buy Rogaine(it's branded in Europe as Regaine) and start using it, mainly as a prevantative treatment. I still have a full head of hair and I would be extremely happy with just maintaining what I've got, however I'm still 25 so I don't feel like starting Propecia right now. In any case, I've read on the instruction leaflet inside that rare side effects reported from the drugs use included alopecia, hepatitis etc. This is the exact extract: The most frequently encountered adverse effects in clinical trials with Regaine were minor dermatologic reactions. Local irritation was the most common adverse reaction reported, including scaling, erythema/flushing, dermatitis, dry skin, hypertrichosis (in areas other than where Regaine was applied), burning sensation and rash. Infrequently reported adverse reactions included allergic reactions (sensitivity, hives, generalized erythema and facial swelling); dizziness; tingling sensation; headache; weakness; neuritis; edema; eye irritation; altered taste; ear infection (particularly otitis externa) and visual disturbances. Rarely reported adverse reactions included alopecia, hair abnormalities, chest pain, blood pressure changes, pulse changes, hepatitis and kidney calculi. It's also here on a website: http://209.85.229.132/search?q...&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk This has made me think about using it twice, cause even if alopecia is a 'rare' side-effect I feel it's too much of a risk since I've got no thinning which is evident to the naked eye. I would be very grateful to listen to your opinions on the matter. Thank you in advance. Nick
Senior Member xxy Posted May 28, 2009 Senior Member Share Posted May 28, 2009 I think the alopecia would be caused by the irritation and aggravation to the skin? You might want to try it on a different part of your scalp (like the back/sides) and see if it causes irritation.
