  1. I was in the process of getting a prescription for dutasteride through a website and the website had a bulleted list of warnings. One of the warnings was:

    "Do NOT take Avodart with Propecia or Proscar"

    However, I've read several threads on this forum where guys are supplementing their finasteride prescription with dutasteride twice/week. Are you aware of any research that has shown practical consequences of taking these 2 meds together?

    If there are real risks involved with taking these 2 meds together then is there any reason not to straight out switch from finasteride to dutasteride?

  2. I had my first HT in 2007, I needed another one in 2012 and then another one at the start of 2017. I started taking Finasteride in mid-2014 and hadn't taken it before then. Therefore, Finasteride wasn't a miracle drug for me. Maybe it helped a bit but I still needed another HT after 5 years like before. Wouldn't it make sense for me to hedge my bets with dutasteride at this point?

  3. Ah good to know. I've been using finasteride since 07/14 so about 3 years. I got another large ht a few months ago so I guess finasteride wasn't a slam dunk lol. Would the general consensus on this forum these days be that I should add dutasteride to my regimen? I have a buddy who wants to ramp up on hair preservation. Should I tell him to add dutasteride 0.5 twice/week to his regimen to play it safe? If he wants to maximize his odds then would there be any reason for him not to do this?

  4. I've read a few threads on this forum where members were adding .5mg of dutasteride twice/week to their daily finasteride routine and they generally seemed to be very happy with the results. Given the fact that generic dutasteride is now available, is it a no brainer to at least try dutasteride .5mg twice/week for a few months?

    Even generic dutasteride is pretty pricey without a prescription (Walmart quoted me about @ $5.30/pill) but if 2 pills/week is the sweet spot then this is only about $40/mo so I would have no problem paying this if the odds of satisfaction are high. As of a few years ago the no brainer hair loss regimen was:

    * Rogaine everyday

    * 1mg finasteride everyday

    For May 2017, does part of the no-brainer hair loss regimen include (at least trying) dutasteride .5mg twice/week for a few months?

  5. I received pre-op instructions from H&W on Friday. The pre-op states:

    "sedation is rarely used during surgery"

    Of course, they sent me this information the day after processing my $7500 deposit. I seem to remember having read other threads on this forum where past clients had described receiving anesthesia and they even fell asleep during the procedure.

    I don't think someone would fall asleep during the procedure without anesthesia. Did anyone else here receive pre-op instructions from H&W with this information?

    Did you negotiate anesthesia for your procedure? I've had hair transplants in the past and I think I had gas + 1 or 2 vicodin. The thought of having the procedure with no anesthesia seems sadist or masochistic depending on which end you're on.

  6. "Nizoral greed" or "Nizoral shed" happens when you use Nizoral 1% more than 2-3 times/week. Do you use Nizoral as your daily shampoo? If yes and you haven't experienced shedding then the "Nizoral shed" does not appear to be an issue for the Nizoral 2% formulation. Please let us know.

  7. Ah thanks for that info. I've tried generic Nizoral 2% from a US pharmacy which was also cherry red. The texture was somewhat like a liquidy gel. Is that the same texture as Nizoral 2% in the UK?

    Nizoral 1% has a smell and texture that is more similar to Pert Plus shampoo which feels like the 1% variety leaves my hair feeling cleaner and more manageable than the 2% variety.

  8. Hi, is anyone here familiar with Pyrithione Zinc as compared to Zinc PCA? PZ is mainly found in concentrations of 1%-2% in shampoos or .25% in sprays.

    Ive read several studies around the effectiveness of PZ for Alopecia. Have there been any studies around the effectiveness of Zinc PCA for Alopecia or is the jury still out on this one?

  9. please post before/after pics that u feel are on par with dr hassons work. here are a few "holy shit" transformations:

    ...with only 2350 grafts. wow.

  10. Actually, I have seen giddy results from all three. There are some absolutely killer Rahal results out there, his hairlines are amazing in my opinion. Shapiro has some as well, have you seen Sunnycool's results from his pass with Shapiro? They don't get better than that. You are on the right track, but keep on looking at the pictures and researching, you will see. I had a very rough time choosing between the three

    @gunther - who did u choose and can I see before/after pics?

  11. I don't disagree, but just remember that the photo gallery is going to be the best of the best results cherry picked. I always like to also search the patient posted results on forums like this. My top three are Hasson, Rahal, and Ron Shapiro

    Rahal and Shapiro are very good but Hasson produces "giddy" results. $11k for 2500 grafts with Hasson really does feel like an investment and not like an expense at all.
