Well here I am 13 years later and I am contemplating having a little more work done . The 1st procedure worked out really well and stood the test of time quite well but there has been thinning in the last few years and I'm thinking of having it "thickened " up a bit. I will keep you guys posted as to what I do and will document it all.

Hi guys. Just checking in for my annual hello. It's now 7 years since my procedure with Dr. Shapiro and it has held up quite nicely. I'm still using minoxodyl and finasteride on a fairly regular basis. It is now 8 years that I'm on the finasteride and close to 25 years using minoxodyl. Here is a pic from last month..........

Just checking in.......
Everything is good and although I have had some thinning in the transplanted area, things are holding up pretty well and 6 years later I am still very happy with the result on my newe hairline done with Dr. Shapiro. Here is a pic from Aug 09

He did the same type of work for me-almost the exact same FUs-- About 2k grafts for me as we placed a few hundred in the upper frontal core in front of the crown area.
Nobody will tell-- not even you!
Great work-- he's the best in Hairlines bar none!

Just so no one gets confused here, This was my 1st and only procedure 5 years ago. I posted the recent pics to show how the work stood the test of time. Hi Smoothy. Yes I remember you too. Glad to hear you also had such a positive experience and result with Dr. Shapiro.

I've had a few PM's with questions that I responded to. Anyone one else should feel free to contact me privately should you desire any info or have any questions pertaining to my procedure and don't wish to do so publicly.

PS: Not bad for 52 years old huh?

I'mmmmm baaack! It's been almost 5 years since I had my prodedure and it has been holding out quite well! There has been some thinning in the hairline area that was worked on but all in all it has held up quite well for a one time stand alone procedure. Here are a couple of pics that were taken in february.

Don't forget it also depends on the survival rate of the grafts.

I have a hard time with any doctor who advertises on the radio and television. Dr. Jones does.

Dr. Shapiro said I wouldn't run out of donor hair and I surmise he meant for someone of my age (50) with the amount of loss I have experienced, should have enough donor hair to keep up with any future loss.He never said I have "unlimited" donor hair, he said I wouldn't run out of it. Yes I am taking finasteride.

Hi guys! Bluesman here! I haven't been on the sight for a while and thought I would stop in. Here are some shots of how I look now at 18 mos. post op with Dr. Ron Shapiro. The phots are a little dark but as soon as my camera is charged, I'll do some where there is more daylight. Overall I am pleased with the results I got but I am so vain , I am considering adding some more density to the hairline.

I drove through the Toronto area yesterday and was very suprised to hear a 30 second radio advertisment by Dr Robert Jones and his "1st in North America, scalpel free technique".

Hey guys. Bluesman is back! Actually I have come in and lurked from time to time but I did a couple of shots last week and finally got the time to post them. These are indoors with no flash but in direct sunlight. Hair is wet and combed back. The new hairline is now noticable from a good ways back and there are TONS of tiny clear-white ones just coming up.
Shadows... If you want to carry on a conversation, please feel free to send me a private message.

I'll be posting my 3 month pics in another week or so. Yes this was my 1st procedure.

Drivers license and birth certificate together are as good as a passport.

Actually starting to get some peach fuzz on top. No real side effects to speak of.
Chaos, panic and disorder...my work here is done.
Good coverage!

At day 11 you are more than OK to stand under the shower head.
-
You are not supposed to ice directly on the recipient area. You should be icing the full forehead below and only directly on the donor area. Dr. Shapiro will also prescribe prednisone which will help.

If you were sitting up in the chair while being transplanted you will probably swell more than the patient who was lying further back.
Dr. Feller, I had my surgury done by Dr. Ron Shapiro while sitting up and I had virtually NO swelling what so ever.
I was given prednisone before surgury and continued to take for 5 days post-op.

With 1200 grafts spread across your frontal core, you shouldn't expect miracles. When you consider that frontal core region is about 100cm2, that works out to about 12 grafts per cm2 which is not particularly dense. I had 1584 grafts done in a 32cm2 area just for my hairline region.

Regrowth at less than 7 weeks is possible... I started seeing regrowth at just 5 weeks! I was stunned. I am now at about 2.5 months, and my regrowth is just now getting beyond just a few hairs here and there. It's actually starting to take shape and have some cosmetic value. I can't wait to seeing what the next few months will bring.
Well I'm happy to say that I will be 5 weeks post op tomorrow and I have already had 6 ingrowns and I am definitely seeing the 1st signs of regrowth. There are definitely some new little buggers poking through. There are also still some hairs that never shed and are growing.
-
Wow! startingout, you mean to tell us that you are under 7 weeks post op and seeing good growth? That is great! I'm 4 weeks post and can't wait to see signs of new growth.

I think you picked a great doctor, possibly the best for hairline work. You'll be in good hands and he won't steer you wrong.

I can vouch for Dr. Ron Shapiro. Extremely fine to the point I occasionally buzz the back of my head down to 1/8" and it isn't really noticeable.
