  1. Nick,

I think its normal to have some hair falling out. I was going through the same process when I was in month One. Currectly I am done with my 3rd month. just started my month 4. It seems like i dont see that much hair falling out nowadays. I do see 5 or 6 hair falling out once in a while, but i guess that's normal for anyone too.

As long as you dont see like 20 to 25 hair falling out everyday, you should be fine.

Good Luck, Keep taking your propecia. coez! thats your key to the kingdom.

    Thanks

    Nick,

I also started Propecia 4 weeks ago. I haven't noticed anything with the taste buds but I think I think I might be shedding some. Yesterday morning I ran my fingers through my hair and the more I rubbed, the more fell out. This was more than normal. But.....today it didn't happen.

  2. Hi FiveHead,

I am getting my Propecia from DrugStore.com, I am hoping they not sending me an expired Propecia.

I mean its not some a mail order, but it a well known site. what you think?

    let me know

    thanks

Yes, legally, you do need a prescription to get Propecia/Proscar. I'm sure there are websites that may sell it to you at an elevated price without a prescription, but I wouldn't do it if I were you.

First - taking Propecia without a doctor's knowledge could mask the early warning signs of Prostate Cancer by screwing up your PSA test. Prostate Cancer is a very treatable disease if it is caught early enough. Understand me here, because this is an important point ... IN NO WAY DOES TAKING PROPECIA CAUSE PROSTATE CANCER! What I'm saying is that it can give your blood test a false reading if you are taking it and your doctor doesn't know it.

Secondly - getting a prescription from your doctor is a piece of cake. Most of the time your doctor would even give a free sample for you if you are trying it for the first time. This can be your regular Family Doctor, or it can be your HT surgeon.

Third - And this one is just my opinion ... I would rather get the medicine from my local pharmacy than from some mail-order or internet site that I have no idea how old their supply is, or how it has been handled. All pharmaceutical products have expiration dates because they lose their potency over time. Yes, we need fresh drugs like we need fresh produce! Also, all drugs have handling information on them, like what temperature it should be stored at, etc. Some drugs are more sensative than others to temperature and light exposure, to name just a few factors. If they are exposed to extremely low temperatures (like in the back of a UPS truck in the north during winter, or in the belly of a cargo plane at altitude) they can lose potency. The same can be true at high temperatures ... like that same UPS truck in the south in the summer. Exposure to light can do the same thing. I'm not sure how sensative Propecia is to these factors ... but its something to keep in mind.

And, oh yeah ... its good to have a Prescription for it.

  3. Arfy,

Thanks for your comments. well I did meet with Dr.B at NHI. He mentioned that i have diffuse pattern hair loss which lead to Norwood 5A scale. He recommended me to start taking propecia. I am hoping that it would work for me, but i am not counting on it.

lets see what happens in a year.

    Hi Webpro

I don't think you are a "5a", you have too much hair. You are more like a "potential 5a".

I'm not sure how I would categorize your level of loss, but anyway the Norwood scale is not perfect to begin with.

    Hang in there...

  4. This is my 3rd month on propecia so far no growth yet, but i did noticed that its working, because i am not seeing any hair while i comb, or on the sink. maybe 2 or 3 which is normal everyone.

before using propecia, i usually see like 20 hairs when i comb, but not its only 2 or 3 sometimes i dont see anything.

I hope this might work for me!! but I will start posting more results as months pass by.

  5. Hi, I have also just started my 3rd month supply this week. I am actually a class 5A at age 23. I am hoping that propecia will atleast stop my hair loss, forget about regrowth at this point.

I am posting pictures every three month, just to see if its working for me or not.

I also...I'm 28 - been on propecia for 2 months now...about to open up bottle 3 of my 3 months supply...I am facing it thinning especially in front and a bit as it moves back towards the crown...so it goes...dunno when the time for a transplant is though...dun wanna just do the front and then in 5 years go bald everywhere else and look ridiculous...I figure I may have to shave for a good three years soon...anyway, SUCKS...so if any of you learn anything - TELL ME...

  6. I was not able to donate blood to redcross, because they said we cannot use your blood to a pregnant women.

if you cannot give blood, while are in propecia how is it ok to have a baby with your wife.

Dont you think the medicine will still be in your bloodstream.

This is where i am getting confused, Please explain.

    thanks

"No developmental abnormalities have been observed in first filial generation (F1) male or female offspring resulting from mating finasteride-treated male rats (80 mg/kg/day; 488 times the human exposure) with untreated females."

This was taken from the Merck site in the prescribing information. Pretty much it means that when male rats on ultra high doses of Propecia had babies, those rats had no adverse effects from the drug. Therefore, you really shouldn't worry about taking the pill yourself while attempting to have a baby.

The only thing I, as a pharmacist, would say is DON'T let your wife TOUCH, or, of course, take, the tablets. They will absorb through the skin readily. Other than that you should be fine.

  7. Hi Everyone, Red Cross came to work today, and I was intrested in giving blood. Too bad i was rejected from giving blood.

One of the questions If you were taking Propecia!

The reason was if my blood goes to a pregnant woman she might have some affect for the baby.

Although i could give blood after I stopped propecia and wait for 4 weeks from the last pill that I took

    I did not know this!!!

    Any comments.

  9. Hi, I would like to read the regrowth on propecia, can you tell me the website.

    let me know

    thanks

    WebPro

    Webpro,

I agree w/ Dr bernstien, you may have caught your hairloss early enough to see "some" regrowth, I have read that "regrowth" from Propecia is more possible the younger you are. Remember though, Propecia takes at least 6 months, for me it seemed after 1 year the loss stopped.

Luckily, you have not lost your front hair-line, losing the front hair really can sting.

Stay the course with Dr Bernstien, he has seen a lot of guys like you.

  10. Thanks for the Info Norester,

Dr.B is the one that put me on propecia for a year.

    lets hope that best.

    WebPro

doesn't look to diffuse to me, but i am not a physician. Stay on the propecia for a while, if no results, i would see if dr b would play w/ the dose of finasteride for you. 23 is way too young to consider transplant, you still have plenty of hair, stay religious w/ the drug, good luck.

  11. Hi Mr.Hair, I was wondering if you took picture when you are in propecia for the past 6yrs. did it helped. let me know

    WebPro

    Webpro,

If I were you, I wouldn't worry to much about the side affects of Propecia. It only happens in 2% of people, and stops when you stop taking propecia. For me, I've been on Propecia for 6 years, and I'm still as hard and horny as I ever was. Especially at 23. If a girl grabs your willy, and it doesn't stand to attention. I would blame it more on a case of stage fright, then propecia.

  12. Hi Everyone,

I am 23yrs old, and I had my consulting with Dr.B @ HNI, he mentioned that I have diffuse pattern hair loss. Right now i am consider class 5A in diffuse pattern. He recommended me that I take propecia for a year, and see if there is any effect.

I have been on propecia for a month. it seems like my hair does not stop that much, but i do see less hair in the sink.

As far as side effects I have not seen any, but I was wondering if i did see side effect, is there any anti - agents that i can take.

I have read in one of the posting that someone mentioned something about it, but i can find that posting again.

any suggestion on what should I do?

I will post my pictures as soon as i can

  13. Hi, my male pattern baldness started around age 19. I actually waited until 21 to see how much of a hair i am going to loose.

right now i am 23, and i have been to different doctors. all of them suggested that i should take propecia.. i just started it this month, so i have to wait until the end of the year to see if there is any progress.

Also, most Dr. would say that it is unethical to do a HT, under the age of 25. This is a very helpful sites, so please read as much as possible from this site and gain more knowledge about HT.

    good luck.

  14. Hi, Just wondering where is Dr.Rose in the list, i did not see his name in pat's list.

    let me know

    thanks

    webpro

I met with Doctor Rose yesterday in NYC. I have to tell everyone on this site how impressed I was with him. Not only is he a true professional and very knowledgeable but also a caring person. He spent almost an hour with me answering all of my questions and explaining in detail the all FU procedure. He was honest and open about the procedure and even showed me the instruments he uses and explained why he prefered one instrument over the other. He carefully explained to me all of my options given my donor supply, the characteristics of my hair, the diameter of my hair shaft and hair color. I have had two consultations with other physicians in the NY area who are both recommended on this site. By far Dr. Rose consultation was the most open and comprehensive. Any potential candidates who are contemplating a hair transplant in the NY area owe it to themselves to have a consultation with Dr. Rose. He is a true professional with outstanding credentials and he is on Pat's list of recommended physicians.
