Reading these comments makes me want to just give up on the idea of ever getting a hair transplant even though I really need it. I lift hard and heavy every week. It is one of the only things that makes me feel good. Taking time off to heal the scar would be a major league bummer.

I also met with Dr. Epstein in Miami and he told me the same thing, that I don't have a lot of donor hair to cover the front, top and large bald crown area. He suggested only about 1800 or so for my first HT. But it seems like not enough to be worth the bother. If and when I do it, I want more like 3000+ to fill in more. I appreciate his honesty, but I must say that I went home discouraged. I keep cutting my hair shorter, but I am approaching NW 5 or so and I am almost ready to just give up and shave my head.

It's a hormone therapy I started on recently to fix my somewhat low natural testosterone level. It's most serious effect is that it has so far greatly enhanced my libido and sexual function, which makes me happy.

I am really afraid of the potential side effects of Propecia, even though many people report no side effects. I already had intermittant libido & sexual performance problems in the recent past before I got on testosterone replacement therapy (for my health and libido, unrelated to hair loss) and I don't want to chance it. And the rogaine I tried in my 20's made my feel bloated and gave me heart palpitations when I laid down so I stopped in after a few months..

I never took Propecia because it wasn't previously available and now I would be scared of the much publicized side effects on my libido, which is working phenomenally now that I am taking a daily application of 10% testosterone gel. And I figured I am kind of far gone now to get much out of it.

in FL, you can see some of the work goin on in that part of the country.

 

..you need to make decisions on what you want to accomplish. are you interested in total coverage, hairline only, a mix.

Yeahh good info. in the other thread. I was impressed by Dr. Jeffrey Epstein's clinic nearby in Miami. I pretty much am interested in coverage across the top of my head, not just in the front of my hairline.

I am thirty-six and have been losing hair steadily since I was about eighteen. I am a single guy who is otherwise in good physical shape but I am really self conscious now that my hairline is this far gone. These pics are in completely unflattering light of course, but it shows just how diffuse my straight brown hair really is across the whole top.

There seems to be a lot of good advice here. What do you experts think about my prospects for a decent result with a modern hair transplant? I am based in South FL and I know from reading the forum that there are at least one or more top notch ht doctors in the area.

Has anyone else has a satisfactory result with a ht with a hairline like this? How many grafts might it take and what kind of investment am I looking at?
