  1. The color will fade, now doubt. I'm curious as to why you have your hair so short? A little length would go a long way to cover that. I realize everyone has their own reasons, but if I wanted my hair that short, I would just shave my head and forget about transplants.

  2. In my own experience, I saw the most improvement between 8-10 months. Remember, your hair at most grows about half an inch a month. Atlthough it starts coming in in 4-6 months, it's at least another couple of months to make a cosmetic improvement.

The HT docs are giving you the best case on everything; back to work after a weekend with nobody noticing, virtually no pain, etc. Most of us are not best case... I took two weeks off of work after my first HT, and was sweating returning to work then. Plan on appreciating your investment around Thanksgiving...

  3. Ouch,

19, already had an HT and currently wear a "piece"!! I find it outrageous that a doctor would even consider operating on you at that age. I would fear later hair loss outside the current recipient site and little donor hair in the future, especially since you stated that the Propecia isn't helping. I have had two HT's, the first not until my late 30's, and have never used Propecia. I would think you'd be better off avoiding any future procedure for at least 10-15 years to see where you are. I have know guys who had HT's after wearing a "piece". Although some of them are satisfied, assuming you'll achieve the same density with hair transplants is not realistic....

  4. I have just read Dr. Beehner's post. I had posted on the same thread as Ron Danny. I have reviewed my post and saw that it could have been misconstrued. I would add that upon my original consultation with Dr. Beehner some time ago that he advised me that his plan, after considering my goals, donor hair, etc., was that he believed I would need 3 procedures. My comments are based on having had two procedures. I have no basis to believe that if I continued with my original plan that the final result would not be excellent( It actually is now). I was responding to a poster who sounded like he was very concerned about being "found out". What I should have added was that having 3 procedures is a lengthy commmitment and that it would be quite sometime before his result would be "undetectable". My experiences with Dr. Beehner were positive, I would not want anyone to believe otherwise.

  5. I would take off two weeks' minimum, which I have for the two I have had. Try the Graft Cyte KIT. That sped up the scabs falling off. If it's your first procedure and you are totally bald an top, There will evidence for two months minimum, (redness, lumps)I have heard people saying return to work in a couple of days, no one will notice. Bull. I went back to work after two weeks on the first one and was sweating it every second. If you can wear a hat, fine. I wear a suit to work so the baseball cap doesen't cut it.

    Good luck...

  6. I have had two procedures w/Dr. Beehner. There has been enough time that both have grown in completly. Am I satisfied with the results? Yes, because my expectations were realistic. There is an abvious cosmetic improvement.

Is it undetectable? Absolutely not. FU's were used at the hairline and look quite natural. As far as the minigrafts in the middle of the top of my head, if I seperate the hair with my fingers, I can see obvious "plugs", meaning there are several hairs from a small graft, a bald space, more grafts and so on. I comb my hair straight back and wear it several inches long. In that style it is not easily noticed that I had the procedure. This is beacause the hair combed back blends with the hair behind it and offers decent coverage.

Does my barber know I had an HT? Yes. Did I have to tell him? NO.

The bottom line is, I don't feel the result is undetectable as far as the mini's. If you want closer to undetectable, I would suggest all FU's by a skilled surgeon. That list would include Dr. Beehner. If I were to have a 3rd HT, I would consider him, however I would want all FU's.

I can't speak for anyone else's procedure(s), I just want to give a candid view of my own experience.

  7. I have had two HT's w/ Dr. Beehner, both around 1000 grafts. My personal experience is that you will be able to tell you've had a hair transplant for several weeks after the surgery. I don't know anyone personally who has had an HT besides myself. I read these forums on occasion. I am doubtful of many of the responsesboth regarding the redness and swelling after surgery as well as when you can expect to see the transplanted hair. My experience is about 6 weeks for the redness to disappear and about 6 months before I saw significant improvement as far as growing hair. My last HT was 6 months ago and I am just starting to appreciate the results.
