  1. When I consulted with Dr. DiStefano, and his salesman, last fall, I was sure he was the right one for me. However, I remember them mentioning that they were working on an infomercial and I distinctly remember serious doubt creeping into my brain. Makes you wonder why Doctors would rely on mass marketing efforts to solicit business. I'm glad I hesitated and did some more research and found this site, and other sites. I now know who the top Doctors are and why. I've also seen lots of HT experiences related here. Of course, you do have to be careful and not necessarily trust everything you read or hear, including infomercials.

  2. Hi Miker. I am seriously considering Dr. Jones also in the next few months. Based on an "online consultation" and a phone call, Dr. Jones feels a 2000 FU procedure would give me reasonable coverage. I'm a Norwood 5A. I'd be interested in hearing more from your experience and perhaps trading email addresses. I've had two smaller procedures, 250 HT's each time, in the early 90's using micro and mini grafts. Considering the technology of the time, they did ok. So, any additional info ranging from how you're doing now, to how the actual day of surgery went, to how you came to select the good Dr. Jones over all others, would be great.

  3. Dr. DiStefano quoted me $5 per graft, so it's about the same as what you've experienced. Bosley was $8-9 per graft, depending on numbers. I was not familiar with MHR in Mass until I found this forum. I'm in my mid 40's and a Class 5. I've had two smaller HT's done in 1990 and 1995. I think both Dr. Davis (1990) and Greenwald (1995) are no longer around. In fact I believe Greenwald had his license suspended, although I don't know for what reason. Anything else you can tell me about MHR?

  4. Did you have any consultations with any other Doctors in Mass or surounding states? I have visited Bosley (in Boston) and DiStefano (in Worcester) and I'm leaning towards DiStefano, but I'm curious what selection process you went through?

  5. John,

I met with Bosley in Boston and was shocked at their prices, although the Dr. seemed very professional. Their high prices may be somewhat related to their intensive use of infomercials and their location on Boylston St, in the Penthouse suite. I am now seriously considering Dr. Mark DiStefano, who does surgery in either Worcester or Rhode Island. I went to the main ofice in Worcester and felt very comfortable there. His prices are also more realistic. You wil get more transplants for less money, and the Dr. and his staff seem wonderful.
