I think you should definitely do more research. In fact I would spend at least 6months to a year researching and narrowing down options before you make your final decision. A real bad hair transplant can ruin your life, no joke! In the ht business there are more bad surgeons than good ones. I also think you need to stop being so hung up on websites because the not so good surgeons sometimes use flashy websites to attract patients, so why would you want to fall into that trap? Bear in mind that a majority of ht patients are men and that is why the b&a pictures will be mostly male. In reallity, most top docs have more than enough experience with female patients. I would also make sure you are a good candidate for an ht to begin with (medical conditions, genetics, donor hair, etc.). Another thing you could consider is a hairline lowering procedure. Many times this can look much more natural than getting a hair transplant as your natural hairline is lowered and the hair grows through the scar. Other than that, if you are set on having a hair transplant I would check out Dr. Konior or Dr. Ron Shapiro. Both have posted several very impressive results of female patients with transplanted hairlines and both are considered to be world class ht surgeons if not the top 10. You should look through the pictures section of this website to see for yourself. As far as going to Dr. Epstein, I would advise against it. There are several posters (women included) who have been unhappy patients. In the end of the day its your head your choice. So good luck!

Just curious if any of the recommended surgeons have started experimenting with using acell on plucked hair for eyebrow procedures? Being abe to pluck out similar looking body hair and then transplanting it into the eyebrows seems llike the perfect solution to the problems currently facing eyebrow transplant procedures but it seems like nonone has any interest in trying it out.

Thanks for the response. I will check that out. The only problem is that I do not know the exact cost of the transplant as I have only had an on-line consult. I have called my bank and was told that I cannot write a check in a different currency and that I should ask my clinic if they will accept a check in dollar amount as most international banks will accept it and covert it at the current exchange rate with no fee. I have e-mailed the clinic about this and await their response but I just wanted to see what my other options were as this is my first time having to do this. I know there are quite a few people who go to Belgium for transplants on this forum. Can anyone else chime in and tell me how they went about paying for their transplant?

I am wondering what is the best way (best conversion rate and lowest fees) to pay for a transplant if you have a US bank account and traveling to Belgium? I have already had to wire a deposit so I know how badly the bank will rip you off to convert the money.

Do you have a current picture of the donor scar? It would be interesting to see how it healed up as I have been told that a strip taken from the nape is prone to stretching. Please post when you get a chance.

Dr. Simmons is this patient wearing brow pencil or powder in results? Also, are there any immediate post-op pics to see exactly were the grafts were transplanted in the hairline?

This is very impressive work. It's not very often you see transplanted sideburns that look so natural. What caliber hair did this particular patient have? The hair must have been very fine to give such a natural result.

Excellent result Dr. Kabaker. I just wanted to know how long it usually takes for the scar to fade? I read it is harder to surgically lower a hairline if there is a cowlick involved. Can this procedure be done on any person who does not have a family history of thinning/ receding?

yeah you definitely do not want hair flap. If your hairline is still intact and you have a good donor supply I see no reason why a surgeon coudn't cut some of your scar tissue out and implant grafts in the remaining areas.

I agree that this is THE problem with people with thicker hair. Especially in those that will end up losing their nape hair anyhow. Transplanted hairlines usually look better when you have finer hair, especially when you are a woman. Hopefully when they start cloning hairs they will be able to make fine hairs.

I have to second TheEmperor's comment. I don't mean to put Dr. Epstein on the spot but I just can't help but comment. You have no right to post such personal information about glajo. Being very depressed after a bad HT is very common.

As in, is it possible to transplant all hairs in the exact direction as your native hairs? Now I know that it depends on the skill of the surgeon, but I imagine that even if you go to the very best that there are going to be a few hairs out of place. I don't know, maybe it doesn't really matter because variation to that small of a degree would not even be caught by the eye. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Yeah my cousin had some laser hair removal on his neck. You have to shave the area prior to treatment so just make sure you get someone to shave it to a place where it isn't too high into your nape hair and make sure they only remove that area. Generally the laser does not kill off the finer hairs so I think you should be fine.

Eagle10 what type of electrolysis was used in order to remove the hair? Generally there are two methods use most often today (three in total), thermolysis or blend. Blend generally has a higher kill rate and I would definitely suggest you try that out as I know people who have had their plugs removed by this method. As far as the scarring goes it's hard to say but I have noticed that blend causes less inflammation.

Mp96: what is electro-epilation? I don't think I have ever heard of this and would be interested in knowing about it.

Now why are plugs harder to remove? I have read it's because they are implanted deeper than the native hairs in order to ensure a better blood supply, but would this also apply to grafts? Are they also harder to remove. I was told that it was the same as removing native hairs.

Another option might be to go to an electrologyst. Laser hair removal is not permanant hair removal but permanant heir reduction. Just make sure you do your research and go to a good eectrologyst who has experience removing transplanted hair and will not leave any scars. You see transplanted hair is rooted a little deeper than the rest of your hair and is harder to remove. Look into "blend" electrolysis.
