FUE is a great donor harvest technique which requires as much planning and attention to detail as the recipient area.

Recently, inexperienced doctors have created terrible scarring problems in the donor area because they underestimate the damage that can be done even with small FUE sites. This donor harvest plan illustrated a safe and evenly distributed performance of 2000 grafts.

68 yo man who had large plug grafts placed 30+ years ago. He had several corrective procedures using plug reductions and about 2200 FUE grafts over 5 years.

This woman was interested in a lower hair line and smaller forehead. We discussed hair transplantation versus a formal hair line lowering operation. She chose the latter procedure as it was a one stage and immediate improvement that took 2 hours to perform. There is a scar at the hairline but in most cases the healing is sufficiently excellent to be inconspicuous. In some cases patients have a follow up small transplant to camouflage the scar or lower the hairline further. This result is seen at 3 months following the procedure. Her hairline was lowered by 2cm. No transplants were done. This case is submitted to illustrate another option to hair transplants in selected patients.

I completely agree that wet pre-op photos cannot meaningfully be used to assess dry post operative results. In this case the patient was thrilled with his result and I asked staff to post his photos for the network not realizing the limited pre op photos on hand. Nevertheless a happy patient is un-deniable and the most important result! Thank you all for pointing out this important point in assessing results.

This is an example of a woman who was interested in lowering her hairline. Hair transplants or a hairline lowering procedure were discussed as options. She chose the hairline lowering procedure because it offered the quickest and most direct approach to achieve her goals. This is a 2 hour operation to advance the front hairline about 2 cm (about 3/4 inch) . This technique is generally reserved for women with congenitally high hairlines and not men or women with androgenic alopecia.
