  1. Okay, I was wondering if the follicles actually "die" from the dht or do they just become so miniaturized that they can't produce hair any longer? If this is the case does minoxidil open the follicles so that hair can grow again. I guess I'm curious because after having a transplant a few months ago I'm wondering if the use of minoxidil could possibly help produce more hair from those follicles that were dormant if there is such a thing. Any feedback is appreciated.

  2. I have been reading about emu oil and its use as a carrier oil since it penetrates the scalp and skin so easily. I have started using emu oil on my scalp and then putting the rogaine liquid on top of that. There are a few articles I located through google about this. The thinking is that since it is so penetrating that it can help carry the minoxidil deeper into the scalp thereby causing it to be more effective. I've started this in the past 2 weeks and will keep everyone posted. In the mean time has anyone else tried or heard of this? Thanks.

  3. I can empathize with you as I had some of the same reservations. I will say that I was off for about 10 days and so it was still noticeable when I returned to work. Suprisingly though I did not receive many negative remarks in fact I received some postive feedback. Particularly when after about three weeks the same people that had noticed then looked at my head and were telling me they were actually very impressed at how it had healed and was no longer noticeable. It sounds like you aren't having a very big session and you will probably be fine. I've learned that we notice things much more than other people who aren't concentrating on it. Besides, you are doing it for you and a year from now you won't even be thinking about this. Best of luck.

  4. Actually, I only have about four red bumps with one of them having the white head which I'm guessing is puss. It's really not that bad. I've been reading previous posts and am just going to put warm compresses on it like others have done. No, I don't have pics yet. I'm still in need of buying a digital camera. Yes, I know I'm a little behind the times. icon_smile.gif Thanks for your concern though.

  5. I have been using a shampoo called Hair Cycle which I found after researching on google for a shampoo to use post HT surgery. I've been using it for about three weeks and it is really a great shampoo without the harsh chemicals that some shampoos have. It really adds thickness for thinning hair. Hope this helps.

  6. I had a HT a little over a month ago done by Dr. Samuels in Chesterfield, Mo. I was greatly impressed with his professionalism and that of his staff. I of course don't know how my transplant will turn out because it's only been a month. But, I was wondering if any others on this site have heard of any reviews on this doctor. Any imput would be appreciated.

  7. Okay, I am probably seeing things but other people are seeing it to so I thought I would ask. I had my transplant on 05-20-08 1150 grafts mostly hairline and mid section of head. I have noticed little hairs growing into where the hairline was created. Now I will say that I do exercise 5 to six times a week and take a few supplements that include MSM, b vitamins and a whole food supplement but I'm sure that this can't be possible as of yet is it? Is there a way to distinguish between transplanted hair and hair that hasn't been transplanted?

  9. I was wondering if any of the medical professionals out there can give me their opinion on what age that the hair loss may stop. What I mean is that I've heard that in some cases that a person can have hair loss and then for whatever reason the dht does not effect the remaing hair on the crown or top of the head. I'm a 3v and am 43 years old. My father has thinning and receding but still has a good amount of hair is this something I can also use to gauge what my hair will be like when I get to be his age? Any imput would be greatly appreciated.

  10. I am currently one month post op and have been using a shampoo called hair cycle. It has a lot of good ingredients that are known to stop inflammation and dht. It also supposedly helps keep your hair in the anagen stage for a longer period. I don't know about that but I also like that there are NO lauryl sulfates either. It really does make my hair and scalp feel clean and much thicker. I found it after researching shampoos for post transplant surgery. Check it out at haircycle.com and see what you think.
