  1. Here's my experience:

    1) I have had many people comment on my great looking hair. The closest someone came to even noticing was, ironically, my boss. He said in a very kind tone "I was gonna ask you what you did with your hair -it looks like you had a magician or something." I just told him I am growing it out, and that was the end of it. Just wasn't expecting it from my bossicon_smile.gif

    2) I've been to three different barbers, and they don't have a clue.

    Hope that helps!

  2. Hello again,

I would not say the hair looks unnatural. Overall, the HT looks impressive, and just today I had my haircut and the cute girl outside said "wow, your hair looks great!" I haven't had that in a loooooong timeicon_smile.gif

However, as the previous posted said, in the hours following a shower and in the absence of gel or wax, many hairs tend to stand straight up, and are curly or "wiry". It might be my imagination, but it appears that with every haircut, there are less of these "rogue hairs". Or maybe I'm just hoping.

I have brown hair, and the hair is quite thick at the back in the donor area.

    I hope this helps.

  3. Hello,

Unfortunately, I have had the same issue...the new hair on the hairline always wants to stand straight up, or it actually curls back on itself which is a bit annoying. I am at 10 months, and although I am mostly pleased with the result, I do plan to ask my HT surgeon about this when I visit in a few months. I also chose a top surgeon, and so this is a bit surprising for me.

I use AG Hardgel, which works well, and I like my hair spiky, so it's a bit easier than your situation.

ANyone else with thoughts on this? WHy does the hair come out curly and wiry?

  4. Hey everyone,

SO after much deliberation, I've taken the plunge and started on proscar (1.25mg every 2 days).

I'm just looking for some encouraging words from the gallery so I don't feel like I won't ever be able to enjoy sex again or will get some other serious side effect. The pharmacist said it was a miniscule percentage...is it possible to stop proscar and reverse side effects if I get any? Also, will this medication affect an otherwise normal prostate?

Please understand that I HATE any pills of any kind, so taking this is tough step.

Thanks everyone. This site is amazing. Good job.

  6. Hello everyone,

So here I am at 7 months...things are good, but I have a few questions...

    1) Can someone honestly tell me what the chances are that I have an adverse effect with Proscar? I know I should start taking it, I just hate taking pills and I really don't want any side effects. I always hoped I could get by without having to take any.

    2) How much more new growth can I expect after month 7? Things seem to be slowing down.

    3) How long should a person wait before having a second hair transplant? Does it feel any worse than the first one?

Thanks guys, I will try and post a few pics soon.

  8. Hey everyone,

Coming up to 6 months post op with Dr. Wong, and so far I am fairly happy with the new growth.

However, while my new hairline has hair and appears fuller, the hairs themselves are of different lengths and are sort of curly and coarse - almost like they've been fried...they always stand up too, the hair is not laying flat.

Just wondering if this is normal and if it will change with time...also wondering if at 6 months, I can expect to see any more new growth?

    Thanks everyone.

  10. Hi everyone,

On Nov. 1, 2007, I took the plunge and got 3600 grafts with Dr. Wong in Vancouver.

It seems that some of the grafts stayed, and I can't believe I can actually go to the hairdresser and they have something to cuticon_smile.gif

I am wondering though, is this it? It appears that the original hairline is not as nice as it was just post-op...will there be more hairs coming, or is it now just the thickening of the hairs I see on my head?

    Thanks!

  12. Hello all,

So I am 6 weeks post op. Just thought I would pass along a few comments about my HT experience thus far.

Right after surgery, and for 4 days I was not happy...looked like crap. Day 4 was a good day, started to heal. Day 8 was the turning point, hardly any pain or tightness when the staples were removed. Then at Day 14 I took off for 3 weeks to New Zealand on a tour. Awesome time, although the grafts started falling out and that was a bit stressful.

Now I am back and my hair is buzzed, #1 on top, #2 on the sides and mid, #3 over the back scar...nobody really noticed anything, a couple of comments about the short hair. No pink region, basically I look like I haven't had surgery and just buzzed my hair.

    Couple of questions:

    1) I still have a few grafts coming out every morning, is this normal? How long will that last for? (I was kind of hoping the remaining hairs were native and this was the worst it was going to get)

    2) When is the earliest someone has seen growth, and how will I be able to tell? I have tiny small hairs amongst the native hair, but I can't tell where they came from.

Thanks, guys, I wish I was more computer minded so I could post some of these pics.

  14. Hey everyone,

Major question...I am at three weeks post op...all has gone well, no pain, perfect healing, some hairs starting to fall out.

However, I am now on a trek and cannot wash my hair very often - will this affect results, or are the hairs pretty much set, and will fall out on their own with time?

I can resume regular washing again in a week or so...if you guys think I should leave the trek, please let me know, I don't care about the money - however, from what I have read, there is not much damage I can do to the hairs now that they are in my head after three weeks time.

    Thank you all so muchicon_smile.gif

  16. Just feel the need, based on my recent experience with Hasson & Wong, to recommend this clinic highly!

True, I have not had more than one HT (hopefully this will be the only one) but I did two years of research and was initially considering a HT with another coalition doctor.

While I have no doubts about the other coalition doctor's skills, Hasson & Wong specialize in HT - other clinics, such as the one I visited, can be housed inside a larger dermatological clinic, and I simply didn't feel it was as high of a standard. (yes, I flew to Vancouver to interview H&W, prior to booking)

Big kudos to Doug at H&W for an amazing haircut, which basically makes my HT unnoticeable after only 10 days.

  17. Hello,

I am 10 days post op from a 3,000 graft FUT from Dr. Wong.

I also have the dubious distinction of having dropped roughly $10,000 in the past two years on the laser treatment.

In all honesty, the laser hair therapy (LHT) DID provide mild to moderate improvement in my hair loss, but as you have probably guessed, it was not nearly what I was looking for. It simply seemed less invasive than the transplant, and thus more appealing.

However, after the superb experience I just had with the transplant ( I will create a web log as soon as I get back from holidays) I would say that if my hair grows in the way it's supposed to, the laser thing was a waste of money (big money)
