Yes, the call was absolutely worth it for me.

I'd already submitted high-quality photos for her to review prior to the call, so our time was spent covering my most important questions. I felt like I was getting answers straight from one of the most highly-regarded hair restoration surgeons in the country, if not the world.

She was actually the first surgeon I spoke with during my research phase. Talking to her really set a high standard for me beyond that point, and as patients in this business, we really need to keep our standards quite high.

Anyone considering paying what Dr. Nadimi charges probably isn't worried about $200 anyhow. It's really nothing in the grand scheme — the cost of about 20 grafts — and I wouldn't personally schedule a procedure with someone I'd not spoken with directly, so I'd say it's definitely worth it. :)

Thanks, very useful to know. I agree, the price factor isn't as important but I just wanted to get a sense of the efficacy of doing an online consultation. I would've thought that a doc would have to examine the miniaturization up close etc to suggest tailored medication. I say this because I'm not yet at a stage where I need a transplant but looking to slow the recession at my temples.

For instance, last year I paid $200 USD just for a quick FaceTime call with Dr. Sahar Nadimi of the Chicago Hair Institute. She's widely regarded as one of the very best in the business.

Going off at a slight tangent here but was the facetime consult worth it? I'm at an early stage with hair slowly receding at my temples. I corresponded via email and told her my situation and she said it would likely be a combination of fin and minoxidil. I'm curious though if she can really give a decent assessment over a video call?

  3. Greetings everyone!

I'll be in New Delhi in the coming weeks and I'd really like to get my hair loss assessed and diagnosed by a good trichologist. I'd really be grateful for any recommendations. I had thought to consult with Dr Nadimi online and although the consultation fee is quite steep, I felt an online call might not fully do justice to the consultation and since I can't visit Chicago I decided against that.

Any pointers/recommendations would really be appreciated.

    Thank you all,

  4. Hi all,

I'm at a stage where I've begun to notice hair loss at my temples and I'm keen to do something about it. By that I mean, I would like to get a professional opinion and accordingly start on prescribed hair loss meds instead of self-medicating. My hair loss isn't severe and therefore would like to get an accurate assessment and diagnosis.

My question is, would it be better to go to a dermatologist or to a hair loss surgeon for this? Also, would it be better to do an in-person consultation or would a virtual one suffice? I ask this because I've been considering doing a virtual consultation with a top hair loss surgeon but traveling to them for this would be out of the question. I'm aware that the virtual consultation alone would be quite expensive with a top surgeon but I would prioritize quality over money. Having said that, I don't know if a virtual consult can be as comprehensive as an in-person consult. I live in Germany and don't know which option would be best. Any advice/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

  5. Hi all,

I'm in my mid-30s and have noticed a fair amount of hair fall over the last 5-6 years. My temples have clearly thinned out not too aggressively but it is noticeable to me, one side more than the other. I'm fairly new to the forum and wanted to ask what I should do to arrest further degradation. I've read through the forum quite a bit and I'm aware of medication such as finasteride and minoxidil but I don't know what doasge etc would be right for me. Should I be consulting a physician/dermatologist/hair surgeon? I don't want to self-medicate and I'd ideally like to get a good assessment of where my hair loss currently stands and what to expect if I take medication or if I even need to. At the moment, I still have a pretty full head of hair, just thinning and some recession at the temples.

I'd be grateful for any advice and it would be great to hear from other members on what they did.

    Thanks
